"Why do so many Republicans believe man-made climate change is a hoax? The two most common explanations are that the deniers are uninformed or that they have been bought off by corporate money. Bestselling author Chris Mooney isn't buying either of those arguments. In fact, as he points out, the better educated a conservative is, the more likely he is to dismiss climate change concerns. How can that be?
Part of the answer lies with motivated reasoning—the psychological phenomenon of preferring only evidence that backs up your belief—but in The Republican Brain, Mooney explains that is just the tip of the cognitive iceberg. There is a growing body of evidence that conservatives and liberals don't just have differing ideologies; they have different psychologies. How could the rejection of mainstream science be growing among Republicans, along with the denial of expert consensus on the economy, American history, foreign policy, and much more? Why won't Republicans accept things that most experts agree on? Why are they constantly fighting against the facts? Increasingly, the answer appears to be: it's just part of who they are.
Mooney explores brain scans, polls, and psychology experiments to explain why conservatives today believe more wrong things; appear more likely than Democrats to oppose new ideas; are less likely to change their beliefs in the face of new facts; and sometimes respond to compelling evidence by doubling down on their current beliefs."
Chris Mooney, oh yes, clearly he will present an objective and completely unbiased point of view. A great example of a conclusion searching for data that be skewed to fit - kinda like man made global warming - I'll pass.

There is an overwhelming avalanche of evidence that the most wealthy and powerful in this country are intentionally and systematically dismantling the middle-class of America and stacking the game in their favor despite the cost to humans, the environment and the fabric of our democracy.
Yet you still contend that anybody that has a problem with that is "jealous" because they aren't rich.
Your mindset is pure insanity.
No, I'm just using the evidence that you have provided that even if a program helps the middle class, you would rather see it reduced or destroyed entirely rather than take the chance a "rich" person might possibly get some benefit from it. Don't worry, I get your priorities now loud and clear.

Based on his research he predicted that you'd say that.

Don't deny the science just because you don't like the results. Brain scans are brain scans.

Thank you for the opportunity to repost this link.

You are welcome. And thank you for the opporunity to post another rebuttal.

"The fundamental mistake made by the IPCC was to neglect or pay little attention to natural changes, except for solar changes and volcanic effects, thus eliminating both
the Medieval Warm Period and the LIA (Little Ice Age). The IPCC adopted the so called “hockey stick” figure
in an attempt to demonstrate that the abrupt and unexpected temperature rise during the last century began as a result of the hypothesized manmade causes. If the IPCC had taken the LIA
into account, they would have found that the linear warming began in about 1800~1850,
meaning that the warming may be due to the recovery from the LIA. Their prediction has already
failed during the first decade of the present century, because they ignored the multi-decadal oscillation. They should have studied the causes of the LIA, the multi-decadal oscillation, and
other natural changes and included those processes in the GCMs. The present GCMs are still
very inadequate for the purpose of predicting future
temperature change.
Since they ignored both the LIA and the multi-decadal oscillation and assumed the
temperature rise from 1975 to 2000 to be due mainly to the effects of CO2 (instead of the combination of the linear change and the multi-decadal oscillation) their predicted temperature
rise in 2100 is unreasonably too high.
Climate change studies on the basis of GCMs are a young discipline. There are many
unknown processes and uncertain factors in climate change. It is inappropriate to bring results of imperfect science to the international political stage.

Obama won in every state that did not require aphoto id and lost in EVERY STATE that did require a photo id in order to vote....Imagine That! He got 247,713 votes in St. Lucie County, Florida where there were only 175,574 eligible voters. Hmmmm! Theres no wonder all these investigations are currently going on.

You really do have a problem understanding the written word don't you? There is no mention of self-insured at all. This is another way to put money aside to cover things insurance doesn't. But, go ahead, keep displaying your ignorance - it isn't the first time and I am confident it will not be the last. This is one thing you should have no problem with, an opportunity for those in the middle class to keep a little more of their money and try to get ahead.
But I guess you have been showing your true colors all along and I just missed it. You are so bitter towards and envious of those you declare to be "rich" that you would rather hurt the middle class then take the chance that some "rich" person somewhere might save a little money too. Damned if you'll let Mr and Mrs Joe Smith be able to save enough money that Suzie can get braces or Joey can go to that special needs school - Mr "Rich Guy" might save some tax money too - can't have that, no matter how many working families will be hurt in the process. Okay, we get it now, thanks for clarifying your position.

Good post. Those socialists libtards hate anyone with money, except Obama the millionaire.

Weird, isn't it? Just more proof that we're not dealing with intelligent rational people.

They just LOVE the Heartland Institute. It keeps telling them what they want to hear. They don't care that we've proven it's paid BS from the Big Energy companies.
The sane reaction to a company like ExxonMobil or Koch Industries intentionally flooding the American marketplace with lies is outrage and boycotts and demands for more transparency and regulations. That would be the sane reaction.
What we see instead is right-wing-whackos running over there begging for more false information. It's pathetic.

The Miller Country Liberal - Where all the hard-hitting news is reported first - NOT!

What you've said here is actually in the OPINION section of the news paper. It is submitted by a reader.

The first line of the article is "IF THIS IS ONLY HALF TRUE, we are in real trouble."

GET IT? It's NOT NEWS!! It's someone running their mouth and making stuff up!!!

Why can't you people distinguish between the two? It's mind-boggling!!! I really feel sorry for some of you -

It said what she wanted to hear though, and she read it in a newspaper - so now in her simple mind it's true.
