To all those in topix forums, don't try to reason with republicans just say " May the Lord Rebuke you". You cannot reason with a demon and the same holds true for these hardcore republicans. Be glad they are not in power now building their 2 trillion dollar navy with golden toilet seats and solid silver sink handles.

First you deny it happened.
Then when proven wrong you say it doesn't matter because it was almost - Gasp- 8 years ago. That's a million years to a Right Winger -history bores them.
So now you admit that McGuire did get over a BILLION in just a Golden Parachute - not including the regular compensation.
But it doesn't matter because he was even though given a BILLION DOLLARS that could have been used for healthcare - it's OK because he was fired for getting caught stealing even more from the shareholders.
Does that thinking actually make sense to even you ?
Thanks for admitting you were wrong.
And now your new theory is that it doesn't matter because he was forced to disgorge some of the more than BILLION DOLLARS he was paid as a golden parachute .
Ain't that great - in Right Wing America, if you steal a BILLION DOLLARS - that's fine - as long as you have to give some of it back.
And on Planet Earth he have up a small portion, not "most".
Here's a more bit of info for you.
This guy got OVER TWO BILLION DOLLARS in compensation.
That's TWO BILLION DOLLARS.
Fact:
.. In fact, by the end of 2005, McGuire's total take for his career as CEO had a staggering paper value of $2 billion....
Yep, how many sick children could have been treated and maybe given life with TWO BILLION DOLLARS.
Ah, never mind, we worship those who steal the most - and if people died to make McGuire a few Billion Dollars - well that's what our Capitalist God would want.
Let us pray:
Dear God of Unregulated Capitalism.
We gather today to worship those amongst us who have accumulated the most money, as we know it was Your will they do so.
We especially worship our brother McGuire, who managed to divert Two Billion Dollars to his personal aggrandizement at the cost of the sickness and death if those denied medical care.
Truly you found him to be worthy of Billions and found the sick and dying unworthy.
We can take a hint.
Curse those who have not accumulated sufficient material goods we hold in contempt and decision as we know you teach.
As Jesus said - the meek shall inherit the earth - and we know that meant give the poor the dirt they deserve.
Please make me rich.
I owe my neighbor nothing - it's every man for himself - unless if course I need help.
Please look out for the rich, the healthy, and those fortunate enough to have avoided sickness and disaster.
Blessed be the almighty dollar.
Amen.
You can't read or you just put your words in my mouth. Your orig. post#5830, p.272. "The medical insurers love it-the ceo of United healthcare received over a billion dollars for one corporate shill. Imagine how many kids could have received medical care with that billion dollars". I said I didn't believe it show me. I was correct because it was never paid and did not happen. See page #279, post#5967. This was written in 2012 not like your 2006 articles. Mine is not an article but done by a company that specializes in information. McGuire did not receive his golden parachute. I said he was a sleazeball and a crook. I know he did wrong , so what more do you want me to say? So I am not wrong as he didn't get the money. Should he have gone to jail? yes. But he has money just as the people in Hollywood and they do not go to jail either. I wasn't the judge. Saying that I thought this was o.k. and that I thought it was right is incorrect. You are like others on topix. and just make things up. So please say a small prayer for yourself so that you will learn not to put words in my mouth. I will go back and look up past post to prove my points.I say very clearly what I intend to say and do not need your help. Sorry for punctuation and spacing as your long winded post ate up all the space. I actually ended up with more room than I thought I would have.

Bill in D'ville doesn't need my help, but you really are being an a$$. He is obviously very knowledgable about taxes (I suspect he either is/was an accountant or some kind of financial officer). He posts facts after facts that people either ignore or do not understand - so I get his deciding that the intentionally ignorant will choose to remain so - why should he waste his breath.

".......The bulk of the costs for this month's production, though - and all others since the program's inception in 1978 - isn't shouldered by the administration, or by taxpayers, the White House told CBS News.

Kate Kelly, a spokeswoman for WETA - the Washington-area PBS station that created the series under President Jimmy Carter's administration and has produced the concerts ever since - confirmed that its budget covers the costs of the concert event and the television production, including the broadcast, transmission, travel, staging, recording and presentation. The White House, she said, "invoices for event-related costs."

Some taxpayer money will be in play through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and PBS contributions via the Program Challenge Fund, but corporations, foundations and other organizations sponsor grants that help cover the costs. Pepsi-Cola, The Annenberg Foundation and the Anne Ray Charitable Trust will sponsor "Memphis Soul."

This month's concert will be streamed live on the White House website, and broadcast April 16 by WETA, and at a later date by the American Forces Network to service men and women and Department of Defense locations internationally. It will be the 10th under President Obama; having hosted 17 productions during his administration,

the presidential record for most "In Performance" concerts goes to Ronald Reagan."

Chickenbutt, you know as well as I that BillinDville has explained various taxes over and over. It's not what you libs want to hear(you accuse conservatives of doing that, too), so you play dumb or think you know MORE. Trust me. You don't. He KNOWS his stuff about taxes, so you might as well let it go and move on. ALL of us are pretty sick of posting the same stuff over and over. I have stated that many times. I only make half attempts anymore. It's fun until it's not. Some days I decide to jump in the fray and others I just make jokes.

I got an email from Newsmax. Not left or right media. It said taxpayers have definitely been paying for these concerts since 2009. You are right. It should be interesting but will probably never know because
everything at the Whitehouse is secretive these days. I wouldnt believe anything that comes from CBS.

Who paid for the extra security? Also, when Reagan held the performances, how was the economy doing? How about jobs? How about military threats from other countries? In other words, what was the general morale of the country at that time? Was Reagan in our faces with celebrities as this president is? This president is TOTALLY smitten with celebrities.

Supposedly, he is going to contribute $20,000. Considering how huge the deficient is, that's like a drop of water falling into the ocean. It's all part of his calculated sinister attempts at TRYING to look as if he REALLY cares. Pffffft.

I'm not a Republican, but what you are saying makes no sense at all. You got your power. I just hope no elderly in your family has to have major medical care. CALIFORNIA BUDGET SURPLUS:

There's an interesting article on BBC about how California turned their financial Crisis around. Here are a few quotes and a link to the article:

"California is projecting a budget surplus of more than $1bn for the 2014-2015 fiscal year."

"The political deadlock has been broken - Democrats now have a "supermajority" in the state, controlling the governorship and both houses of the state legislature."

"Proposition 30 has been called the "Millionaires Tax" - except that in its final form it will affect everyone who earns more than $250,000 a year.

Four new tax brackets have been created for incomes above that threshold. Those who earn more than $1m will have to pay significantly more tax, backdated to the beginning of 2012"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-207...

It seems that we have a real-world large-scale model of how to solve fiscal problems and govern effectively. Elect Democrats, watch spending, and raise taxes on the wealthiest.

Where have I heard that before?

Conversely, there doesn't seem to be any model that shows cutting taxes for the mega-wealthy, screwing the middle-class, having two unfunded wars and deregulating everything is an effective way to run your fiscal affairs.

You are liked and many respected. This may interest you

Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA)-- The dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un made a final decision for all-out action against the U.S. and advanced a new strategic line of simultaneously pushing forward the economic construction and the building of nuclear armed force at the March Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. In this regard a spokesman for the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League made public a statement Thursday.

Millions of Korean youth turned out as one in the sacred war for annihilating the enemy, true to the important decision made by the great man of Mt. Paektu, the statement said, and went on:

The youth vanguard, grown under the care of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu, is ready to flatten even a mountain once the headquarters of the revolution issues an order. This is their spirit and proud tradition.

Keep the work up against U.S. imperialism and the U.S. industrial war complex
