Why would a CO enter a juvenile cell without backup?

Another mistake made and another lesson learned, that will be publicized and analyzed for study by detention, cop and other buddies. She made a fatal mistake, entering his cell alone at 2:00 a.m.; the mid or third shift always being sort of sleepy and slow, many shift workers wanting and willing to work alone. Routine is the killer, when mistakes are made by sleepy people who get sloppy and stupid and lazy; especially the experienced ones who have seen and experienced it all before and cannot be surprised or tricked any more. Any teenage child can be or become a dumb violent savage who goes wild.

When I watch a little bit of "COPS" or those "JAIL" or "LOCKED UP" or dash-cam video shows, you see that guards and cops cannot get away with making ONE mistake that could be fatal; criminals and thugs always looking for fear, weakness, stupidity, laziness, sleepiness, boredom, inattention and routine for a chance to attack and escape or just to be mean. Many of them have nothing to lose and don't care one way or the other, facing a decade or two or three behind bars. They can sense and smell weakness and fear and stupidity, not respecting them in the least. They are mean violent inconsiderate creeps and peeps who are like wolves herding sheep. Third Shift is the time to strike.
