Commonsense doesn't appear to be his strong suit.

Canton, your tactics are too transparent. I've been through this little game before on a different forum, where the libtards kept saying I was someone I wasn't. It's an Alinsky-like way of trying to marginalize the person and shut them down. Needless to say, it didn't work there, and it won't work here. I'll be staying around for a long while, so get used to it, chimpy.

Speaking of the other forum, your tactics and posts remind me of one of the weasels on there ... His username was Jakeman. Is that you?

And then you followed that with "It's vital for us to take the Senate in 2014 and the WH in 2016." By "us" I assumed you meant Republicans, so I thought I'd remind you that the EPA was created by Richard Nixon by executive order.
And the Dept of Homeland Security was started by GW Bush. Both were big mistakes. Even if the administrations that start these bureaucracies don't abuse them, there will eventually come along one that will. As Ben Franklin said, "Govt is a necessary evil". That tells me that there is always the potential for abuse of power and corruption, so govt should have been kept as small and accountable as possible.

After our discussion about global warming, I thought this might be something of interest. It's the compelling story of a woman who saved aprx 3,000 Jews during WWII, and was tortured as a result. She was nominated in 2008 for the Nobel Peace Prize. She lost to Al Gore. A sad commentary.

It was actually Thomas Paine who said "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one..." It is on page one of his famous pamphlet "Common Sense."

Who is talking about a Democratic "form" of government? LOL
How did you vote on the affordable care act?
Oh that's right, you didn't get to vote.
That's the difference between a Representative Republic and a Democracy.
Simple huh
"Indirect democracy refers to a system of government in which the people control the government through elected political officials. The elected representatives represent the people as opposed to the direct democracy which is a system where people make public policy decisions directly through referendums or initiatives. This is also called a republic or a representative democracy."

Again I have only referred to democracy.

So did the poster I responded to.

Maybe you should be directing you comments to them.

REPUBLIC vs. DEMOCRACY

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

SUMMARY
In the Pledge of Allegiance we all pledge allegiance to our Republic, not to a democracy. "Republic" is the proper description of our government, not "democracy." I invite you to join me in raising public awareness regarding that distinction.
A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group.

Republic. That form of government in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whom those powers are specially delegated.[NOTE: The word "people" may be either plural or singular. In a republic the group only has advisory powers; the sovereign individual is free to reject the majority group-think. USA/exception: if 100% of a jury convicts, then the individual loses sovereignty and is subject to group-think as in a democracy.]

Democracy. That form of government in which the sovereign power resides in and is exercised by the whole body of free citizens directly or indirectly through a system of representation, as distinguished from a monarchy, aristocracy, or oligarchy.

[NOTE: In a pure democracy, 51% beats 49%. In other words, the minority has no rights. The minority only has those privileges granted by the dictatorship of the majority.]

There's a reason they campaign on the issues that are important to their constituents. We vote for the ones who represent our values and goals for the country. If they go to Washington and do something different, then the citizens who voted for them, may as well have voted for the other party.
Just to clarify, I'm talking about major issues here, like the healthcare law, abortion, etc. There are other, less-important decisions where compromise should be reached in the everyday course of events.
It never hurts to be reminded about the reason why the founders chose to separate the branches of govt. Even the legislative branch is divided in two, both having equal power. And within them are hundreds of seats filled with representatives from different sides. That's because the founders wanted each branch to keep the others in check, and even the minority party in each house of the legislature to keep the majority in check, if they have the votes. If only the Senate matters, just because the executive branch is democrat, then why have the House at all?
So, I don't buy into this lie that "we won the election, so you should go along with what we say". They didn't win the election in the House. They lost it. And the House has as much power as the Senate. So, the republican reps need to stop letting the dems bully them into submission, and do their #%@$ jobs.
Very good post! Keep up the good work. Your country needs you!

And in the latest news:

1-23-14-Illinois Congressional GOP candidate Suzanne Atanus stated,"God created autism and dementia and extreme weather conditions to punish the U.S. on account of legalized abortion and the increasing support nationwide for marriage equality."

1-24-14-Mike Huckabee stated,"Women are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing them for a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their lidido or their reproductive system without the help of government." So, all women are stupid bimbos?

1-25-14-Oklahoma State Representative Mike Turner has proposed scrapping marriage in the state altogether. He contends it is the only way to keep same-sex marriage illegal, while defending the Constitution.

1-26-14-Fox News host Tucker Carlson "Young people can't decide on what entree to eat, So don't let them vote." But it's okay to make cannon fodder out of them for war.

1-26-14-Fox News Sunday- Mitch McConnel stated that "The GOP was the THE PARTY OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR" (voters must not count). The real gem-"You know, we've tried big government for 6 years in a row. We know it doesn't work. We've had a tutorial, an experiment with spending and borrowing and taxing and regulating." I always thought owls and turtles had pretty good memories, I guess not. Must be that amnesia or dementia thingy there showin' up.

Lies... the Huckabee story was a bold faced lie. The gist of what he said was Democrats would have you believe that women need government as their uncle sugar because they can't control their libido. A far cry from what Libtards automatically started tweeting.

Republicans clearly give women more credit than Dems.

Not one Fox or Limbaugh link, you can't be serious, oops my bad, you are dumb enough. You mean the Idiot Limbaugh that stated(with a pants on fire rating) "This polar vortex thingy is a left wing conspiracy to promote climate change." It has only been documented for a hundred or so years before that bag of hot air was even thought of. I bet you had to put a bib on over that one, the slobber was so thick.

Gee, Jethro McOnetooth- prove that it's a lie. Here's another Totally true fact:

Patty Murray quote-"In the past 3 years, State Legislatures have enacted more restrictions on abortion than in the previous 10 years combined" Looks to me like GOPTR's think they own the women instead of giving them credit.

Hey Jethro, here's another one for ya'll toothers:

Republicans are actually trying to empower women by removing a woman's power to make her own choices concerning her own body. And the Democrats are actually trying to belittle women by fighting to allow women to keep their power to make their own choices. Now that's some Orwellian stuff there.

I'm still trying to find an article from anywhere that shows that the Democrats had to go to school to be tutored on how ts speak to women without offending them. I saw all kinds of them about the GOP having to do just that. Disprove that.

ummmmmmmm Reality check.

recorded weather by day is 150 years old if that.

The Earth is older than 150 years....in fact Ohio was covered by a glacier.

Who farted to melt off Ohio's glacier? How many cars were driving by? Planes flying over?

Something called cycles has not had enough data collected to even remotely declare one.

However...without clean air & water we all die.

We absolutely don't need a pinhead intellect deficient scientist with flawed data dictate taxation in this county over a flawed fantasy.

Only drunken sheep follow failed science, and logic escapes them.

Get back to me on who farted to melt the glacier that covered Ohio?
or the 300 year old trees whose stumps have been covered in ice prior to your scientists recording data, that are now visible for the 1st time........by us I mean....how did a tree age to 300 before being a frozen forgotten time?

climate change will occur.....our short recordings of weather is documenting a blink of Earths history.
