What about the kids wrote:
The state plays semantic games with the children's future. The state substitutes pleasant and positive sounding euphemisms for actual achievement and in the process robs the student and the taxpayer who funds this scam.
While the state may have foisted another worthless Excellent with Distinction award upon our Junior High School, the factual data reveals anything but in Math.
These scores are not derived solely form the Junior High School, but are a result of a cumulative effort in each preceding grade. Each progressive year from the start of testing in the third grade, the math scores continue to sink year after year. This continual stepping down in achievement ultimately produces the 8th grade where 80% of the kids score BELOW 75% on an assessment test.
Let the readers decide if such "achievement" is really excellent with distinction.

What kind of proof are you looking for, outside of the fact that the head of the Warren County Tea Party is the President of the Springboro School Board? Would you for me to Google the number of appearances she made on the American's for Prosperity circuit around the state of Ohio? Or would you like to see the list of financiers behind the Education Action Group responsible for the "Children First" mantra of the Board?

Since you have posted completely false information, next time, maybe you should take some time and actually research the information. Teachers pay for their own retirements - there is not a "match" by the school district whatsoever, so taxpayers are not contributing to any teacher's retirement. In addition, you are correct that teachers don't pay into Social Security, but guess what, that means they can't draw from Social Security either. In addition, teachers pay more than you have noted for healthcare, and they also pay for dental, vision and life insurance. Maybe such incentives were free 25 years ago, but they are not today.

Teachers: Pay 10% of their income into their very generous guaranteed retirement. And the district contributes ~15%(defined benefit)
Real world workers: Pay ~7.6% into social security which is matched by the employer.
Of course does social security really count as a retirement?(if the teacher's aren't using it I would assume no) So that deduction doesn't include any REAL retirement contributions that have to be made on our own, sometimes without any company matching.(defined contribution)
You are also right that teachers don't get free health coverage, they have to pay 10%.(while most everyone else pays 25%++.
Correct me if I am wrong,(which I'm not)boro teachers do get vision coverage, dental coverage, and life insurance for FREE!!

How silly are you christopher ritter...rambling about open springboro and then lurking on this blog trying to discredit the message of the president of the Springboro school board who is "openly going about doing good" exercising our United States Constitutional First Amendment Rights of free speech!
This great freedom of speech is the same exercised by our president of this great nation who went about during his 2006 speeches stating that America is not a Christian nation.
Recently the Springboro community heard in public school board meeting from one of our SHS social studies students exercising his great freedom of speech rights, stating his opinion that "God has no place in this country." The public also heard our school employee, Sarah Thornberry, exercise her freedom of speech stating she was a Christian, but that religion should be kept in the church.
So, christopher ritter , why do you project on your open springboro
comments on this blog that our school board president doesn't have the first amendment rights of free speech as she "goes about outside the board room expressing her good message of doing good work for our school children and their parents?

A few badd apples can indeed spoil the whole barrel, unless the apple keepers care enough about the "whole barrel" to question where the heck is the stink coming from in this boro barrel; and then take the time to "out these badd boro apples" and cast them right out of the barrel of boro goodness. There's a fresh breeze a blowing through the boro and nothing smells better than a fresh new apple free from mellow rot...from just sitting in the bottom of the barrel...

Wow, do you work for Hallmark? Is this supposed to mean something? So, is the BOE the rotten apple? The whole town? Can we buy apples from this barrel of goodness?

There you go again, you silly sheep!

Lighten Up! The meaning is simple --

There are only a few greedy mean-spirited SEA school employees that are really "stinking up" the workplace for a lot of our good teachers, who are telling parents that their jobs would be wonderful work opportunities, IF only they could run the union masters out of town. Good teachers who care about our children first know that the board members are not the ones who are putting teachers job security, great wages and benefits, at risk; only the union masters can do that.

So these wonderful teachers don't mind no raises since 2010? And no raises in the future if the current BOE gets it way?

Abraham Lincoln said, "People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be."

If Springboro Teachers aren't happy with their employment in our great schools, provided by Springboro Taxpayers, then it's going to take a lot more than just more money to get them to happily work in our kid's classrooms! Why would any teacher not be happy with great pay and working conditions like these:

Working conditions –
1. New technology, and technology upgrades galore,
2. Clean and well kept facilities,
3. 7.25 hour work day,
4. Paid leave = 15 sick days and 4 personal days off per year,
5. Subs when need,\$700,000 in supplemental pay possibilities.
6. Field trips for students and teachers permitted to run trips off line,
7. Moderate sized class for teacher across all grade levels,
8. More support staff for special education and gifted on the horizon,
9. New text books for learning,
10.Fully funded athletic programs,
11.Tons of extra curricular activities for teachers and students,
12.Smart kids making learning easier(better than our urban counterparts,
13.Engaged parents that support educators programs and needs,
14.Great pto organizations that support educators and students needs,
15.A board of education that supports student achievement,
16.Smart boards in every class,
17.A board of education that is focused on policy and safety for our students and teachers,
18.new stages,
19.More band equipment (\$35,000 for all kids),
20.Excellent pay and benefits,
21.Generous employee by-outs,
22.More AP classes to accelerate learning.

If Springboro Teachers walk out on our children's classrooms, then parents and school district leaders cannot allow our children's classroom education to be held hostage by the union masters, who care only about more money and power.
Springboro loves our children first and our school leaders are quite capable of meeting the challenges. We can all be encouraged by Mr. Petrey's comments recently in local newspaper:
"I will proceed with an aggressive and proactive contingency plan to ensure that Springboro schools remain open," Superintendent Todd Petrey said in a prepared statement.

Well, guess we won't find out till the union politics gets out of our childrens classrooms, and then the classroom teachers can decide for themselves "to work or not to work" with our kids in our great schools! Good pay and benefits and a whole lot more.. through the years our teachers our generously supported by Springboro taxpayers. Why should we be emotionally blackmailed for more?

You can go to the Springboro Transparency Project and see for your self the data on pay and benefits. You can also go to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and see the data on Springboro Median Household income over this same period of time. Look at ODE, you will see that since 2008 the Springboro median household income (1.5 wage earners working 12 months) went up \$1,500 (08'-12') in these 4 years. According to ODE the median Springboro Teacher salary went up \$5,444 from 08'-12'. You may want to compare this to the data on the Springboro Transparency project for individual information.

Teachers do not receive social security as that is the reason that they do not pay into the system.

Typical shameful behaviour of those who fight against their neighbors trying to make Clearcreek Township FIRST in highest taxes;
BUT, refuse to support our children FIRST budgeting philosophy, ensuring our school children an excellent education, while keeping the costs of that education affordble, by carefully adhering to responsible spending.
Pro-Union Lovers of Tax and Spend, Ron Malone and Scott Maney are no doubt expecting a full sweep of failing agendas to pass, by joining Jason Gabbard and Ed Wade in efforts to increase fire levy taxes 93% in November! Mr. Maney expects that Ron Malone will bring aboard Three tired old retirees to reclaim on the BOE union first majority; Mr. Maney will then expect that old man malone will steer our children's money toward Malone's agenda of putting the emphasis on valuing the educator, by never saying No to unreasonable demands for increased salary and benefits.

While Mr. Petrey complains in the Springboro Sun that teachers have the lowest starting salary in Warren County; he forgets to remind us that his SEA teachers (including Scott Maney) are campaigning to raise fire levy taxes on homeowners making Clearcreek Township the highest of all in taxation. Factor that increase with the automatic 12.5% increase (because of state budget cuts to local governments) and it is clearly seen...
the time has now come not only to vote no to pro union lovers of tax and spend in November, but just vote no on all union renewal and new levies on the ballot in November 2013.

VOTE NO TO RENEWAL LEVY in NOVEMBER!

These Springboro School levies have been "renewed" so many times that who among taxpaying homeowners even remembers when it was NEW? And why was it necessary to add NEW taxes for government schooling "back then?" Who remembers when the Renewal levy was NEW?There's a big difference in government schooling of unionism and a quality education for each individual student.
If the renewal levy for the Maney/Malone pay increase for union teachers fail, perhaps we can teach our Springboro Education Association HOW to THINK differently about a quality classroom education, without the expense of "controversial issues" such as indoctrination of unionism, such as Principal Ron's Kids were taught to seek revenge against Springboro taxpayers who had generously supported their K-12 public school education.
Where's the VALUE to our children's future in that poor leadership of our has been a high school principal, who now boasts arrogantly his vote for revenge to gain "control" of the board?

Now that Kelly Kohls isn't running for re-election, you can bet your bottom dollar (and it may very well be just that), the teachers will be lining up like at a soup kitchen for more and more money. Folks, we've only just begun (like the song).
