Anybody hear applause applause?
1. Box Top Competition is now through May 30th winning HR in both 7th and 8th grade will win popsicles and ice cream bars.
2. Student council will be selling tickets to listen to music in study hall to raise money for a Cancer Fund. Tickets will be sold in lunch for the next two weeks, each ticket will cost a dollar and can only be used once. Please stop by and support the cause!
Want them to learn how to give, have them volunteer their time to spread mulch, cut grass, pull weeds, rake last years debris from the beds around houses, etc.

Giving money to not study in study hall for whatever the cause is not the best way to inculcate good values, a work ethic, or an education in our children.

Unless your intention is to become the "cool" teacher or administrator by requiring less of your charges, this plan, however supposedly well intentioned, does not serve the best interest of the children in our schools.

To help reduce pay to participate fees, the prior BOE set up a program in that Boro student athletes can earn $10 an hour, up to 10 hours, for a total of $100 potential PtP reduction per student. I'm not sure if any students have done landscape maintenance so far in this program. Lots of landscape beds and many trees around the district have been neglected. If John Pennell were to secure about 60-70 yd of bagged mulch, and distribute it proportionately around the district, I'll bet student volunteers, and PtP workers, could have it all spread out within a week or two.

You ask, who's representing this district's children FIRST? The answer to this question is Jim Rigano & David Petroni. It's a direct crime toward this district's children that much of Jim & Daves's efforts are currently being nullified by decisions and policies of greed sponsored by the SEA; decisions of greed being made by union insiders (rhymes with Haney) outside board room walls prior to meetings, then later "justified" by board majority Stuckey, Anderson and Ron Malone as being... "good for the district".

The crying shame in regard to this district's children is Boro's former high school principal and current BOE VP made a career out of exploiting the relative political naivete of students. Much like the pied piper, it became all too difficult to avoid abusing accumulated "insane popularity".

As we all know, high school graduates quickly mature into young adults. Of course, some fail to achieve goals they set out for in life (often because they fail to make a life-plan for themselves). However, succeed of fail, almost all of them learn to understand, see and experience life, the world, in real terms. Relationships with persons around them come to be based on REAL joy, happiness, blood, sweat & yes....tears. In order to have real chances at success, a young adult has to separate himself from the nest. In order to do this he also has to permanently rid himself of any cult-figure "pied pipers" that may have tried to lead him astray in the past.

From the Nazis to the Stalinists, tyrants have always started out supporting free speech, and why is easy to understand. Speech is vital for the realization of their goals of command, control and confiscation. Basic to their agenda are the tools of indoctrination, propagandizing, proselytization. Once they gain power, as leftists have at many universities, free speech becomes a liability and must be suppressed.

This is increasingly the case in public participation in our Board of Education meetings, or at least as Mr. Petrey would like to see it become.

Whenever those in power begin justifying their actions in the interest of "protecting" us we know the public is in trouble.

Mr. Anderson, Mr Malone, and Mr. Stuckey apparently believe in this course of action and have pushed Mr. Petrey to bring it to the fore in their names.

It appears only Mr. Petroni and Mr Rigano believe in the public participation regardless of the message brought forth in a civil discourse.

That pesky transparency thing keeps popping its head up to demonstrate once again why it is a good idea and why those on the left despise such options.

SAVE OUR SUPERINTENDENT - The time has now come to rally for Charles Anderson and Ron Malone to step down in the board room and put back the re-emphasis on our more experienced Children First Board of Education elected officials. Let's Do It for Safety of our Kids quality classroom education while living within our financial means.

What the heck happened to Todd Petrey during the short time between August 2012 and
December 2013?

Do you remember Todd Petrey at the meet and greet during his interview as Superintendent of Springboro Schools; as he told those community members who showed up to meet him that he believed the School District Employees should learn that they work for the Springboro Taxpayers, not the other way around?

Do you remember Todd Petrey's comments in the local news saying that our Children First Board Majority was all about highest academic achievement and fiscal responsibility, and that is what he stood for?

Do you remember Todd Petrey's comments in the local news saying that he re-considered taking the job that our Children First Board Majority offered, with a salary of $130,000 five year contract and that it was clearly understood what the board expected him to do?

That was less than TWO years ago...... and now we are learning that back in December 2013 that Todd Petrey was already planning Ron Malone's agenda of Union First opposing our Chilldren First winning agenda of the past two years...... making plans to waste our school tax dollars putting in place hired facilitator Jeff Stec's community engagement program of SEA Union First Solidarity.

What the heck happened to Todd Petrey?

Simply put, the SEA strong arm tactics and politics of personal destruction, against our Children First, under the inept, inexperienced leadership of our Board of Education current
presidentCharlesAnderson and pro-union first retired educatorVP, Ron Malone.

What a Shame for School Superintendent Todd Petrey.... He could have chosen to stand firm on his 2012 contract agreement with our Children First BOE Majority; after all a deal is a deal and elections come and go; but obviously Petrey chose to ignore his responsibility to do what is right for our school children and community, by standing on Children First principles AGAINST our insanely popular former SHS PrinciPAL (who is now running our board room like a union shop, ensuring Union First employment security, even to the detriment of our Children First.

Don't be fooled by that good ole boy rule "trust but verify."

Remember when it was learned that donations were being solicited by our Athletic Boosters board acting as if they were a non-profit organization even after their non-profit status was expired; and no one among the boosters board powers that be had the good sense enough to catch the treasurer who was stealing from the treasure chest?

Well we all know that "trust" in the Boosters Board has now been verified as "Gone."
Last year when the mulch sale came around, I asked the board representatives to verify that this non profit business was now operating within the legal requirements and was told buy at your own risk-- didn't bother to check it out this year-- it's my experience if you want a good deal on mulch, check out the Wal-Mart first; and if you want to support a student who plays football, then make an anonymous donation to the student of your choice; and don't expect recognition at the SHS graduation exercises. Exercising doing what's right has its own reward. Now that's what I call paying it forward; getting the best deal for your hard earned money; and cheerfully deciding in your own heart what you want to give away for others to enjoy.

A win-win you say? For what parties? You must mean Boro's sports programs? Programs in which the BOE voted recently to reach into the general fund to stuff back pockets of coaches, trainers and the A/D to the tune of an unneccessary QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS?

Panther football muscleheads such as yourself would not come off as being hypocrites if Anderson and Malone didn't completely blow off Petroni's responsible request to amend the vote by matching each new sports program dollars with cooresponding new academic dollars.

Then again, in regard to Boro's liberals it's blatantly obvious where the priorities lie. Students are important. However, some students are more important than others.

Just wondering WHY the Children First Board Members did not offer a rebuttal to the Union First Board members' takeover of Taxpayers Money to bail out the Athletics funding gap?
It is certainly recognized that Charles Anderson, Ron Malone and David Stuckey have the insanely popular Union First Majority Authority; but that doesn't make voting money out of General Fund the right thing to do for our school children and community.

Why was there no discussion in the board room asking tough questions to the Athletic Director as to why the sports program leaders kept spending money that they did not have in their budget to spend?

Why was Matt Louis not interrogated by the Board of Education members to find out just which one of those school employees under his leadership chose to ignore responsibility and accountability to their superior; and why did school employee Matt Louis allow this "funding gap" to broaden out of control under his watch?

None of these questions that are important to all Springboro Taxpayers were ever asked in the Board room; the ineffective approach of board members suggesting that Taxpayers should pick up the funding gap in classroom fees, in addition to bailing out the overspending of the Athletics budget is just not good enough reason for not holding all school employees accountable to live within their means.

Serious overspending issues have been rampant in the athletic department for years, certainly before the arrival of Matt Louis. At the time the Booster scandal was at it height, KPR's opposition claimed that the late 2012 cut in the athletic budget doubled as a punishment for mismanaging capital resources. In hindsight, Miller probably guessed right. But KPR (and Kulls) were correct in that the situation needed to be reeled in by seeing that coaches' records correctly accounted for the dollars.(We know the rest of the story.)

Since the Harves scandal, the "new" Boro Boosters have repeatedly promised multi-person cross-accountability in all money-handling such as concessions. However, for the time being, if you wish to support a Boro team, do so by supporting fund-raising as well as physical efforts of INDIVIDUAL STUDENT ATHLETES.

Versus using cash, it's advisable to use a check or credit card.

When the school administrator's solution for spending more money than they took in for sports was to raise the amount of money the district would kick in, Mr. Petroni asked that they also afford the academic side of things the same courtesy by waiving student fees by a like amount.
He naturally felt the wrath of Mr. Petrey and Mr. Malone for his suggestion and the request to aid in the academic venue was derided and declined..
The thing about the sports program was that we knew a year ago they were going to spend way more than they were going to bring home in revenue. Not once did I hear anyone from the Superintendent Petrey to the business manager to the treasurer suggest that perhaps we need to reign in our expenses. The only thing I heard in concert from the members of the administration in the Budget and Finance committee was to run another levy and charge families more money.
How many of our sports programs reigned in their spending when they knew they were spending too much?
None?
How many coaches recognize they are part of an overall program not just a single sport empire?
None?
How much did our administration do to inform those coaches that the salad days of taking as much as you wanted had come to an accountable end?
None?
Why did our able superintendent Mr. Petrey, codify the illegal taking of sports camp monies by the coaches to provide them legal cover?
(Mr Petrey gave them an 80% commission for selling to a captive audience or as we like to say in business, taking orders from the call in house accounts)
If one goes through the records they will find NO documents that say the coaches were ever allowed unfettered use of our school name and reputation, facilities, and staff to run private businesses for the coaches personal gain. No coaching contract exists that states such, no board resolution states such, and certainly no taxpayer mandate allows this giant transfer of funds away from our children and to the coaching staff.
Mr. Holtrey conspired to organize this shift of funds at taxpayer expense when he was the athletic director according to testimony given by various coaches and himself to the Ohio State Audit investigators.
For years and to this day unsuspecting parents are duped into believing this somehow benefits the sports programs and the children as opposed to merely enriching the coaching staff.
There exists plenty of money to support very well our sports programs if the financial controls are in place and respected by the coaches. If the boosters and all the money they raise are to support the entire program rather than just the "fun" stuff.
Facts are these -- There Are No Financial Controls in Place And There is No Respect by the coaches.... not for living within their means nor for Springboro Taxpayers. Petrey is fond of telling his staff that Springboro is a Wealthy Community.... and that if the community members are told how wealthy they are often enough, and how wonderful our Springboro staff are often enough, then the levies for increased taxes will take care of themselves.

Our new Springboro athletic director lost no time in getting with Petrey's Program of bashing Springboro taxpayers for being too greedy to pass a school levy to pay for the hiring of an elite staff of athletic coaches, as he goes about Springboro and surrounding communities talking rot about Springboro families who are wealthy enough to support a million dollar a year program; but just to greedy to say yes..... So in typical sports bully fashion, Mr.Louis just takes what he needs from the taxpayers pockets, with Petrey's nod of approval, and all Yeas from the board members.

How insanely hypocritical are our Union First Solidarity Board of Education elected officials in Springboro school district. With less than six months of working under the leadership of
boardpresident Charles Anderson and boardvicepresident Ron Malone, just take a look at the irony of Todd Petrey taking control of We the People power over our school tax dollars; and handing all the power and control of our Children First 21st century classroom education over to the Springboro Education Association student union activists for S-U-R-E. Remember in public board meeting when retired educator/board member Ron Malone gave kudos to Todd Petrey for meeting with the Students engagement team; telling the Springboro taxpayers that decisions made by the students in their meeting with Todd Petrey would have greater influence in future decisions made in the public school board business meetings?

Remember in public school board meeting when School Superintendent forced Springboro parent/former member of the Board Policy Committee/Children First Advocate Kelly Kohls out of his District Policy Committee; putting the re-emphasis in his district policy committee on the agenda of Springboro parent/S-U-R-E union first activist Stephanie Bindeman; then publicly announced to Children First Springboro Parent, Kelly Kohls, that he (the superintendent) already had enough "input" from parents on his District Policy committee. What a hypocrite is Todd Petrey! How dare he throw our Children First under the bus, by embracing ONLY the Union First Solidarity agenda of boardpresident Charles Anderson and boardvicepresident retired educator Ron Malone?

Where is the understanding of this insanely popular MSA board majority of the constitutional rights of minority groups to have equal representation in our school government "of the people, for the people and by the people?"

People in this community should wake up and start asking themselves: Is everything that is popular with the MSA board majority/ Springboro Education Association RIGHT for our Children First 21st Century Education and a brighter future for our schools and community?

Of course supporting sports programs in the schools is very important. The problems you describe arent unique to this community. Illegal stuff can happen anywhere. Accountabilty is about getting lots of very trustworthy volunteers into the right places, then politely and cordially checking each other from time to time. But your point about cash is well taken. There have been problems sort of like this where we used to live. Lots of kids always used to come to our house selling candy bars, popcorn, restaurant discount cards, ect. We smile and buy them but at the same time we would hold our breath, hoping our money would eventually help to fund uniforms and gymbags and not wind up in somebody's savings account

No incentive for Blakely to try harder to our students' advantage when he wasn't even interested in the job of Springboro school principal, since he has known for some time that his eye was on the dollar sign, thinking the grass is always greener...... if you see an extra greenback out there.... forget that love for the kids and go for the green......and that's just plain greedy!

Just said No to a job just because it paid more money. That's because I was happy with being paid for quality work at a job that was close to home, with attractive comfortable working conditions, away from the heavy traffic and long daily commute. However, my
co-worker and good friend always kept an eye open for an exta dollar; once telling the boss of a better offer and asking that salary be matched; boss said No Way, clean out your desk and go now. To this day my good friend laments over making the wrong decision. But, different strokes for different folks. It great for Springboro employees to leave Springboro schools for a job that pays more-- its just a bit tiring hearing our school superintendent constantly lament that unless we pay constantly increasing salaries/compensation beneifts package deals to our already well paid staff, that we are going to lose these quality experienced administrators and teachers..... and we all know what that means.... the danger of BRAIN DRAIN throughout our community with our children's future at risk and our
property values sinking .... way down low in the Boro. Good Golly Miss Molly! whole lot of brain drain going on!
