This appears to be the kick off for the newest rounds of school levy campaigns. Apparently a district with a surplus, in spite of a gamed curriculum with an over abundance of fun electives vs core courses, will be needing more money to enhance the largesse of the teacher's union.
The first move is to "canvass" the levy supporters to divine their wants and desires for the school system. This is done most simply by packing the committees and group leaders with levy supporters from a small but distinct vocal minority.
How can this go wrong for the community?
Citizens for Civic Renewal proposal:
Springboro Community City Schools are at a crossroads—and as the district’s leader you look for a vision and mission that will unite not only the school district but the community. Most professionally facilitated planning processes can build a workable vision/mission/values statement. What will make a long-term difference to the district and community is whether the planning process can also heal old wounds, reconcile differing points of view, and build the trusting relationships essential to making that vision a reality.
CCR uses the visioning process to build a cohesive community that supports the schools because it understands the role of education in the larger mission of the community.
1. Build inspired consensus for the district’s identity (values), vision (future), and mission (role).
2. Reconcile differences among stakeholders and build community commitment to the vision.
3. Create relationships and dialog structures that will maintain community cohesiveness.
The process depends on three key sets of people: a small Core Team that “staffs” the work; a larger group of Community Stewards who reflect the community’s diversity and serve as project ambassadors; and the community at large—everyone who is touched by the school district, both within and outside of the district.
At the beginning of the process, we must first ensure that the Core Team and Stewards have the right members and are committed to the process. Then we host a public event to introduce the process to the community, get feedback, and generate buy-in and buzz for the process. With this data, the Core Team and Stewards will then work to implement the three “Content Phases”, an iterative community engagement process that gathers key data that will be used to build the district’s identity, vision and mission.
The process is detailed below, and would take from 8-12 months to complete.

This is very interesting. So we saw Lisa Babb (teacher) along with many Springboro teachers, Mrs. Malone (teacher) walking out now many times on Springboro representatives. They are totally intolerant, self righteous, entitled, left wing bullies. They are who teaches our kids. They think they are amaaaazing.
Funny, these are the very people teaching our students to be tolerant!! Tolerant of what? Tolerant of what they are saying but totally intolerant of any other speaker. What poor examples of community, and teachers and now I see Lisa Babb is on the Community Mission, Vision Committee that Todd Petrey put together. Do you really thin they will be tolerant of any input but theirs? This committee is an insult to Springboro. This committee is stacked with levy promoters, a whos who of NFSS only. This phony committee is levy promotion committee and this outside person is a long time friend of Petrey. The $12,000 friend is another waste of money given to a buddy from Princeton and Lakota where Petrey worked before he came here. This person helped Lakota and Princeton work over their communities for more money. It worked in Princeton and failed in Lakota.

I've been reading and hearing about the development of district core team with Todd Petrey and Karen DeRosa's efforts to recruit "stewards" (a.k.a. stooges) from around the district. All of this amounts to nothing more than a carefully crafted lead-in to force a vote another school levy onto the ballot; a levy that WON'T be needed for at least 3 more years if the current board maintains the fiscally responsible pattern the previous BOE maintained.

The usual suspects show up for all of these support the schools programs that always seem to turn into another cry for more money to help the kids. If I have learned nothing from watching this hocum go on for many years, it is all a grand setup to justify the unjustifiable. We had a surplus, how fast can they blow through that? Then they will cry poverty. The district did not need $35 million six years ago, as is proven by the surplus we now enjoy off of the same old tax revenues. Shouldn't Neighbors for Springboro Schools be footing this nonsense instead of the taxpayers?

In Todd Petrey's $12,000 Contract Proposal for Community Engagement presentation, it is stated: Our district is a $50 million organization operating without a vision developed with stakeholders.
Really, Mr. Petrey? Could it be that some stakeholders see our $130,000 School Superintendent now operating with the same old Tunnel Vision of status quo past failed practices?
Why should we blindly follow Jeff Stec's CREATION of Our identity and our community's "collective philosophy?" As an individual taxpayer and responsible civic minded citizen, I do not have an identity crisis; and I already have a clear Belief in my Mission for eternity.
People in this community should find out more about this community organizer, Jeff Stec, that Mr. Petrey is willing to blindly follow. Mr. Petrey doesn't even live in our community, doesn't pay school taxes in our community, and doesn't prove himself to have sound judgment in choosing leaders, like Stephanie Bindemann for Sure, to shape "Policy" for our school district. It appears to some that Mr. Petrey is the one who has an "identity crisis" since he doesn't know that a School Superintendent is hired by a community of taxpayers to manage our kid's education; not to micro-manage "We the People."

No doubt our union classroom professional educator, Molly Wray, is focused on only Six Months from now, when Mr. Petrey's "bad girl, bad girl" report in her employment records (for violating our students privacy rights) will finally be removed; leaving nothing behind except the loss of trust and influence of community-wide Springboro stakeholders.

Wow this is identicle to 2008 levy years when we were told and "asked" what we wanted for the future of students. The same old this money will be used to build a strong school system and or keep us excellent. All the while, 23% of our grads did not meet the minimum competencies to get into an Ohio college or university, we were failing our gifted students, taking away busing, gifted services, special ed, field trips, increasing costs to parents, no textbooks being ordered, buildings ignored so on then found out that the district and NFSS were lying to us and hoarding/hiding money. All of this was to prove we needed the money.
Come on guys lets save our district $12,000.
We want you to tell us the truth.
We want you to not take our money when you do not need it.
We want you to put the needs, safety and privacy of students first.
We want you to stop protecting bad employees.
WE want you to pay and benefit like the rest of this community sees.
We want you to teach more hours and more days per year.
We want you to stop indoctrinating our children with the socialist agenda.
We want you to teach real not revised, American history.
We want you to use your time to add professional development not take it from students education hours.
We want you to use market trends and projections for class and curriculum decisions.
We want you to give our kids classical literatre and not biograpgies of hollywood celebs and home repair instructional mannuals to read.
We want you to teach our children to think using their intelect not their emotions.
There no need for three tiers of "input" from the levy lovers. No need to waste $12,000 on an outside buddy to take from textbook orders or three supplementals to pay for more of the same levy works.
This is a start ;ets see if the Committees come up with anything like these.

failed the high school students as stated many times in the federal review of or high school reports =TAV 2010 and WCESC 2012. They are public documents you can ask for them.
Allow his staff to take protected student information for personal use. Allows his teachers and coaches to violate use of district property for personal gain,(summer camps).
Don't see him much at board meetings or leaves by 9 while meetings continue without him.
He speaks at the last board meeting saying that hiring a retired district employee does not take a job that an unemployed person could have. LOL Wake up please

The last twelve months..... revisited.
"Insanely popular" former principal Ron Malone gradually morphs into the Pied Piper of Springboro, taking political advantage of his close relationships with former SHS students. At the 2013 commencement, Malone pauses repeatedly to take full advantage of each and every opportunity for audience applause. Fully realizing the political significance of the occasion, Ron Malone envions each and every soon-to-be Boro graduate in front of him as being "Yes Malone" votes for the upcoming school board election on November 5th.
In a joint effort to unseat Kelly Kohls from the school board, Dave Stuckey and Charles Anderson join with Malone. In retrospect, it really didn't matter whose names were listed below Malone's on the black yard signs. The other two candidates' names were placed on these signs in order to fill voids in black space. From the get-go, everyone in this community knew Malone was going to win a board seat. Why? It was, and still is clear that Ron Malone specializes in brainwashing Boro students into believing he's the next best thing to the Second Coming. Then what do Boro's kids do? They come marching home from school and tell their parents that principal Ron Malone is the next best thing to the Second Coming.(Never mind that Malone has no legitimate plan to improve our students educations.) Anderson ends up receiving the highest vote tally, but this is only because of an 11th hour endorsement from Educate Springboro.
Skip to the present...
Illegal activitity by a high school teacher (a.k.a. "Mollygate") has brought to light a distinct possibility that last fall's school board election may have been in fact, something less than legitimate.
Citizens of this community are watching our newly elected school board members waste thousands of dollars to hire outsiders to come here to speak about subjects...subjects which SHOULD BE second nature to any effective school board member!
OH!... My bad! Please pardon my assumption! I assumed Boro's citizens were collectively wise enough to choose three (3) school board members who would be "effective" enough so that the district wouldn't have to hire outside facilitators!!
Here are the facts. Five years ago, this district was a financial mess in virtually every way. In 2009, we as a community began electing a new style of leadership, which in turn began to turn this district around. Now this district is on solid ground. With wise budget management, there is no reason Springboro Community City schools should seek new levy money until at least 2017. Thanks largely to Malone's Pied Piperdom, last fall we as a community were completely fooled. The 3 people we elected onto the board are sitting on the board now with little dollar signs glowing in the pupils of their eyes. What we're going to see for the next two years is an endless dog and pony show of the SEA /teachers/ administration creating perceived needs, and bringing these perceived needs in front of the Malone-dominated BOE. If/ when there is resistance (and there WILL BE resistance) that's when the ..."Oh, pity the kids, let's launch a levy for them!...mantra will begin.
I'm guessing the "create-needs,and-then-fi ll-them-with-our-tax-dollars " Boro liberals are currently aiming for a levy date of May 2015.

don't know how ? Easy, the Springboro school system is the biggest employer in the community. When Kohls got elected, her and two other school board members put the brakes on the reckless spending of the Baker regime. SO...instead of teachers getting outrageous pay increases and benefits while the rest of us suffered with no pay raises and layoffs..they , the school union followers had to suck it up . Now, the unions have rallied the teachers and union backed thugs and we will now slide back into the Baker era mode of wanting levies for this and that. It's going to get real ugly next year when the new school squanders the surplus and starts crying for more money.
