Why is it that a child in Alabama should be treated differently than a child in New York? They both wear the same diapers and eat the same food, etc.
Common core is about standards NOT curriculum. Suggesting that children in Alabama can't learn at the same rate as children in New York (or anywhere else) is a logic that would lead that we need different traffic laws in New York as we have in Alabama.
Isn't common core really all about leveraging all school tax dollars that are collected on a local level (including wealthy and affluent zip code area 45066) and then allowing the federal government to suck up local tax dollars and then "spread the wealth" because the federal government "feels" like the system works better to collectively dumbdown the masses?
Probe deeper into the more you know about common core and you might agree with those who believe that common core standards are more focused on perceived needs of income equality, other than raising the bar for excellence in education putting priority on each individual's highest academic achievement potential.

Not really, only in historical record for those attempts at central planning and those five year plans were beauts. Central planning has invariably failed in those worker's paradises and will fail again in the United States. Who will suffer the consequences of the elitist arrogance? The children, just like always.

In Springboro we spend $7,926.
Oakwood spends $11,240.
Mason spends $10,125.
Looks like money does help.
Of course "Money Does Help" and that's why Springboro citizens are focusing on current ongoing investigations of our former SHS principal's misallocation of our school district funds and resources; and the outrage of this Booster Board officer's million dollar theft of our money, right under the noses of our School Superintendent, School Principal, School Athletic Director, and elected Board of Education representatives. All these "powers that be" simple IGNORED one parent's question in a public board meeting when the question was asked: Where does the pay to play fees go? Springboro citizens are still asking that question and we are not going to be diverted in our seach for truth (and holding those accountable who have lied to us all these years, in protection of themselves) by these silly ridicules of "the more you know." Where is the outrage? And what has the outrage of theft/misallocation of money in our Springboro schools got to do with how much money Oakwood and Mason spend?

Springboro Citizens Want to Know: WHERE IS THE MONEY?
The More You Know about the true history of our school district financial oversights in the years before 2010 (when Springboro parent Kelly Kohls came on the BOE and started asking Tough Questions) then the more Springboro Taxpayers know that our school district does not need MORE money; we need MORE accountability to taxpayers from those in responsible leadership positions.
Other School districts should be watching these ongoing audits currently continuing in our Springboro Schools.

Anyone else notice not a soul came to the rescue of our ethically challenged coaching staff or their erstwhile management? No one gave a good accounting of why it was better to divert money from the Mom's Club and put it in the coaches private accounts.

Where are the Boosters who know where the money went and now seemingly have no problem with Mr. Holtrey pocketing the money that was supposed to go to support our children's programs?

I wonder if there will be a rally?

You can look at the great thing the state minimum standards and no child left behind (authored by the great humanitarian Ted Kennedy) standards as examples of how this continues to artificially inflate euphemistic achievement.

If the 80% of 8th graders cannot pass the basic Ohio Achievement Assessment test now, do you really believe they are going to be smarter in 7th grade?

Are you not one of those on this blog that are OBSESSED with politics of personal destruction, trying to discredit the good service of private citizen, Doug Weideman, who has the wherewithal and business expertise to understand the importance of
this continuing "Probe of Coach Camps to Continue" as stated in the DDN February 11, 2014, article?

Why not ask Tiffany Carlisle?

Tiffany led the North Park Rally in July 2012.

Wasn't Tiffany (along with Sarah Jobe) Principal Malone's chosen One for SHS representation to Todd Petrey's District Parents Council?

Wasn't Tiffany one of the NFSS ladies who protested in public board meeting the reduced fees for pay to play? Wasn't Tiffany the NFSS lady that object to the Board's vote to offer the student work program; so that those students having financial difficulty could earn the money to participate in a sport that they enjoyed?

Was it not within this close knit insiders group of District Parents Council (including Tiffany) that the Superintendent aired his complaints against our Springboro parents who had not paid their past due fees to the school district, discussing the negative impacts of this loss of revenue (more than $200,000?)

Was it not the NFSS Levy Queen who "sympathetically" protested that the 25% reduction in fees had been granted by "this Board"..... adding that she would be willing to pick up the extra cost, without the reduction in fees, if there were parents that really could not afford to pay....

But, the NFSS Levy Queen "Confided" to our highly paid school superintendent
..... that she didn't approve of a certain Board Member (who was elected in November 2009) wasting money on a family vacation?

I love that Mr. Wilhite though it best to cut out the Springboro Football Moms and divert that money into an account that he controlled so he could pay himself a "stipend" after expenses were paid.
For all of these coaches who are attempting to minimize the damage done by their calculated actions to divert money to themselves, here is the definition of a stipend.
"A stipend is defined as a fixed sum of money paid periodically for services or to defray expenses. The fact that remuneration is termed a “fee” or “stipend” rather than salary or wages is immaterial."
Is the word "stipend" their word or the auditors? I don't see any of the statements in quotes.

Here you go, Dumbo....

My "right" to speak for "all of them" is given by those of them, whom I am currently enjoying lunch with, discussing Current Events in the News, relevant to ALL Springboro citizens in our school district and throughout our community. Springboro Citizens with whom I am speaking, ALL agree that our former under-performing SHS principal, Ron Malone, must
have closer scrutiny from the taxpaying citizens, now that he is an elected Board representative; Who must be held accountable for his past practices of failed leadership; and cannot be allowed to continue those status quo failures, now that we all know that Ron Malone's true history is not as golden as we have been led to believe.

Stay with me now, as I count for you, these Springboro citizens who are here with me, that ALL agree that we should stay focused on these current events surrounding the probe of coaches past behavior, who are employed as Teachers in our taxpayer-funded schools, and
beloved role models for our children. And this continuing PROBE does include scrutiny of our past and present school district employees, including Ron Malone. Can you count One, Two, Three, Four, Five, plus ME, makes Six (or half a dozen -- have it your way -- OK?)

Ongoing audit, could that be an investigation into the advertising signage on the score boards. Ask for some information on those programs from the business manager. That one smells like fish left out in the sun too long.

Ron Malone is the biggest threat to the future of our school children and community. Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.
Let's Face It, Springboro.
Admitting the problem is the first step towards change may sound corny, but it is often true.
Ron Malone can't do better until Ron Malone admits that his old status quo failed practices of the past are not good for our students first 21st century education.
Mr. Malone is pretty good at trying to hide and ignore his problem of failed leadership as the principal that everyone loved for the past 13 years; but now that Mr. Malone is an elected board representative, it is no longer possible for him to hide the truth from concerned citizens, no matter how much Malone tries to ignore it by hiding behind the MSA majority rules mantra in the board room.
Truth is, the majority of voters elected Charles Anderson as board representative.
Now, isn't it time that board president Charles Anderson stopped ignoring his responsibility and accountability to his community wide constituents, and put a stop to this current action of school employee Todd Petrey, who is now working against children first, re-instating Ron Malone's status quo agenda putting union first financial interests priority with our school tax dollars?
Why is it in this community that one man, Ron Malone, is allowed to continue this bullying of his fellow board members and professional peers in the board room, just as he did in his protest rally against his professional peers and Board of Education authority in his vote for revenge against children first, in March 2012?
Face It Springboro. Ron Malone IS the problem at the heart of it all. Ron Malone has got to go, or else our school children and community will lose it all that has been done for the past two years, putting students first.
And all the People said Amen!

There Will be No More Passing the Collection Plates for Brother Ron Ever Again.

It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Pay it Forward, Brother Ron, with a Random Act of Kindness, putting our students first,
while leaving your self-interest ambitions behind, and just step down from the bully pulpit.

Way over, why do you try and deny the obvious?

They only had checks for the period of time banks were required by law to keep them. What makes you believe that it is only coincidental that Mr. Harves just wrote checks to himself during that small time period during his 20 year tenure?

Do you honestly believe a man of such high moral and ethical character would find himself above taking cash from uncounted brown paper bags of cash just laying on the kitchen table all weekend?

Then we have to look at the coaches and according to the state auditor, who just reported facts, the athletic director was encouraging other coaches to follow his lead and divert money from the boosters into accounts that the coaches alone controlled.

http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/news/docum...

That is not speculation, that is what the coaches told the state investigators.
