Inquiring Minds wonder if board member-elect, Ron Malone,
(who has been an insanely popular SHS principal for the PAST
thirteen years) will try to "pull" another one of his attention getting tricks at the board meeting tonight; just like he tried at the last board meeting to get himself presented by Human Resources Director as "Athletic Department Helper!" Get real, Malone, how stupid can you get as board member-elect, as not to know that his requested action is ILLEGAL? Seems that everybody,(except Malone)
knows that board members have every opportunity to support our students extra curricular activities, as VOLUNTEERS
with NO compensation. Just proves that Malone thinks he is still in control of the high school and already trying to "establish" his "illegal principal's fund" (as his shady kid's photography business turned out to be). Malone was "caught in the act" in the board room on that one; why did he think he could pull that
"illegal action" over on the board at the last meeting?

Inquiring Minds around town are asking why such jubilation that
soon Kelly Kohls will be "gone?" Good grief, elections come and go,
but a Mother's heart for serving her own children's best interest first is forever; Thank Goodness for concerned Moms like Kelly Kohls, who got an "inside look" as a board member, of the many needs inside our children's classrooms, and decided that she could serve all our students more effectively, as a concerned parent, ASKING the tough question of our retired educators/board member-elect Ron Malone and David Stuckey.

It's really difficult to understand what you mean by Kelly Kohls being "gone...." can you expound your personal opinion for us?
and as for "venon"... you obviously have Kelly Kohls confused with Ron Malone... Nobody spews stronger venom at Springboro families and taxpaying homeowners than Ron Malone! Now that Ron is on the "other side" of the board room table, under the scrutiny of all taxpayers, it is quite likely that he will be getting back from taxpayers exactly what he has spewed out on this community of taxpayers for years.

You are correct that no one can take God out of a believer's heart. No one is trying.
Now that we know the God issue is settled in the board room;
perhaps our time and energy should be focused on protecting the free expression of religious freedom and free speech; and demand that our union teachers in the classrooms stop indoctrinating our kids to praise and worship the "false education gods of unionism."

For instance, as a parent, I would like to see our children's art work displayed in District Office, with the child's Name on the drawing; but instead, the "collective" art work on display recently just states the art work is created by the Teachers Friends.

If you remember from your history classes, this is the debate that surrounded the Crusades. The Crusades were in effect the Popes' military religious conversion expeditions for the purpose of rescuing the souls of lost heathens in far off lands. The Crusades were (and continue to be) a public relations disaster for not only Rome, but also for all of Christianity.

Many Christians worldwide here in the 21st century seem to not be able to differentiate between... "Go forth and spread the Good News to the whole creation" (Mark 16:15) vs. that of the general UNIVERSAL UNDERSTANDING of how various global religious /spiritual organizations generally interact with one another by using the non-aggressive, non-invasive philosophies ...."live, and let live", "pray, and let pray".

There are Christians in this school district who apparently wish to ignore the fact that there are a number of families with children attending our schools that practice Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, or some other faith. Other households here in Springboro no doubt contain conscious atheists; followers of Darwin who are patiently waiting for science to unravel the mysteries of life's origin.

Yes, you are correct in that no one can take God out of believer's heart. At the same time, no one should attempt to shove the Christian "God" toward anyone (or any party) that is already happy practicing another faith, or otherwise general happy with their spiritual life.

For the sake of protection of religious practices (or, non-religious, secular practices) of ALL students and their families, American public schools must be religious-neutral.

See here is what I was referring to. Distortion of words, calling someone names. We know who these people are. They post here, they attend board meetings, they plan petitions and rally's against the liberty minded people trying to keep us from forced union, slavery, communist, atheist machine.
They make themselves clear. Take DDN and Larry Budd, Afsoon, Mary, and many more that we have seen referenced here with their facebook posts. You can see them if you look. Anyone that thinks the God is banned from certain buildings is saying that you are not truly free unless the government allows it. God gives us Liberty and the government takes it away. IRS, EPA, Obamacare, Common Core, the UN, the feds, social security, and federal "program is meant to only give our money back to us if we obey their rules not your morals guided by your faith.

What do we teach our kids-that "God is not allowed in certain buildings", Faith is sort of just out there, not fact and not real important, your parents and grandparents are being illogical, unscientific and just wrong?

Sounds fair and balanced to me!

At the same time, there is absolutely no evidence of any one (or party of people) in our Springboro School District making attempts to shove the Christian God toward anyone; or interfere with any one's generally happy spiritual life.

There is evidence that throughout History, that the influence of religion is significant in the true study of our Great Nation's history; and the study of religion in this historical-type setting is NOT proselyting (forcing conversion) nor shoving the Christian God toward anyone.

There is question among many as to why Unionism is forced down the throats of our children (who are captive audiences in their classrooms) through the indoctrination of teachers
who believe not only in being a member of the union, but believe that ALL children should be taught unionism.

There is question as to why Lisa Babb is allowed to use our students as captive audiences to Evangelize in our public schools, through the Lift afterschool Christian program of instruction and activities. This is certainly NOT a school sponsored Christian program, since that would be illegal; so the question is whether or not permission has been given to Lisa Babb to use taxpayer-funded facilities for Christian evangelism; or whether or not there a fee being paid by the Lift organization to use the public school facilities?

There is question as to why our school staff forced our students to render opinions on the Pride Survey; There is question as to why our school staff forces contributions to charity down our students throats.

But No Question about it... Our School District Leaders and our BOE members do NOT and have never attempted to shove the Christian God toward anyone... and anyone who argues that point AGAINST our Springboro board representatives is simply NOT telling the truth.

Our first clue here that something is very wrong in our union
indoctrinated curriculum is this thing called "non-gender curriculum" in which all references to the pronouns "he" and "she" are eliminated and no boy nor girl has a name except "friend."
This concept of "collective thinking" of all for the good of solidarity is projected in the art work on display recently in the district offices, giving recognition not of the child's name, but only that all children are the teachers "friends." This is the same concept of dumbing-down our kids self-esteem as the forced practice in our children's classrooms by their teachers, who dictate that all children will bring one valentine card to each one of the teachers friends, and NO one boy nor girl can own self-expression of individual emotions.

Personally, as a Springboro taxpayer, I have the greatest respect for the diversity of religious and political opinions and beliefs of all my neighbors who are parents and grandparents; In Addition, to all my neighbors who have no children nor grandchildren who attend Springboro schools; BUT these neighbors are charged the same percentage of school taxes on private homes, as the parents who have one, five, or seven children enrolled in Springboro schools. And my Strongest Belief is that NO child should be forced to study ANY subject, using my public tax dollars, that can better be taught in the context of home, family, and the church. This includes the forced study of sex education, programs of drug awareness and intervention; and forced interrogations of our students through the use of surveys implemented by school employees in our children's classrooms.

Personally, as a Springboro Taxpayer, I believe the Springboro Education Association pressures our school district leaders to the point of "intrusion" into the private lives of our students and their parents, poking around in our students' minds and hearts, trying to find some "unmet need" in the students' lives, that the school government can then claim that our school union employees can meet in the classroom, much better than the parents. I believe that most Springboro parents agree that it is so difficult to maintain "moral authority" over their own child, that they have been brainwashed by our school union employees that only the "highly paid" union teachers on the "inside" can provide everything wanted for their child's successful future.

I believe that Teachers' Unions are simply "educational cults" financially thriving on emotional blackmailing, attacking Springboro taxpayers with their own war of words, presenting to the community of voters false EVIDENCE appearing real, in their non-stop campaign of FEAR of Changes happening in the way Springboro Taxpayers are now paying for the Education business;
our SEA members are fearfully clinging to the past, unwilling to
utilize and apply their professional skills in problem solving the great challenges that lie ahead in the future of our school children and our community.

The author, philosopher and poet George Santayana once said, "A child educated only at school is an uneducated child."

George Santayana also said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Lest we forget that board member-elect, Dr. Ron Malone, prescribed for our high school students a low level curriculum, keeping them uneducated in order to provide job security for union teachers... we must review often and always remember the true history, through official documents, of Dr. Ron Malone, who has been a SHS principal for the PAST thirteen years.

It doesn't take more money; It takes more accountability.
Mr. Malone reluctantly resisted accountability to his boss, Mr. Lolli, and ignored recommendations that could have raised the bar
for our students, and "it's all Malone's fault" that district and taxpayer resources were wasted, along with lost opportunity of individual higher academic achievement.
Public records (which are availabe to the public upon request)
prove that Malone's poor job performance is most definitely
"all Malone's fault." Whose else could it be?
Let's look at Today and the Future with new optomism that
Mr. Malone can be led, by example of the other board members,
to utilize his abilities putting students first while maintaining fiscal integrity. It doesn't take more money; It takes more
accountability. Board member-elect, Mr. Malone, is now accountable to the community of all taxpayers, to listen to the needs of our school community of employees, in addition to listening to the needs of our community as a whole.

The time has now come for Mr. Malone (and his campaign supporters) to leave behind the status quo failed practices of his PAST, running our SHS like a union shop, misallocating district and taxpayer resources. As just one member of a professional TEAM, can Mr. Malone get on board with our current board's reform minded vision for our children's 21st century education; OR will he continue behaving as a school yard bully out for revenge, pretending to be the "Victim", demanding constant attention of praise and worship for himself, as the insanely popular Ron Malone, who once was a high school princiPAL?
What a waste of 41 years of experience is that?

As the man who led our school district as high school principal for 13 years, Ron Malone held a special place

of trust, authority, and influence in our community. How he chose to use those gifts is revealed in the public records

reports of his professional peer reviewers, his superiors, and his own public pronouncements.

It is not as golden as you have been led to believe.

DECEMBER 2010 - Warren County Educational Service Center audit report on SHS program of studies RECOMMENDATIONS page 13:
"Increase the number of students taking the HIGH SCHOOLS THAT WORKS recommended curriculum/Ohio Core each year by at least 25 percent.
"Increase the percentage of students taking college preparatory courses. Eliminate any course offerings below the college preparatory level."

JANUARY 2012 - Superintendent Gene Lolli's annual performance evaluation of Mr. Malone notes:

"Mr. Malone does demonstrate the ability to affect change, but sometimes very reluctantly. It sometimes takes numerous requests by Superintendent before changes are implemented."

Mr. Malone needs to improve on getting request goals to the Superintendent in a timely fashion. Examples include: Requested schedule of events for delayed start at the beginning of the year, at semester, and last week and have not yet received. Also requested times and dates of all staff meetings and quarterly updates on the High Schools That Work per 2011-2012 job targets.

JANUARY 2013 - Warren County Educational Service Center audit report on SHS program of studies page 10:
"SHS still offers GENERAL LEVEL CLASSES (Algebra 1A and 1B, physical science, US History, and World History). Thus, not all students experience a college preparatory curriculum. Documents provided to the Technical Assistance Visiting (TAV Team indicate that contrary to the High Schools That Works philosophy, SHS believes that offering LOW-LEVEL COURSES is in the best interest of students. This belief, however, WAS NOT SUBSTANTIATED by research or data."

2013 US NEWS ranking of high schools in Ohio ranks King’s #23, Mason #35, Bellbrook#37, Brookville #41, Lebanon #48, Centerville #49, Waynesville #53, Monroe #90 and , and finally Springboro #97.

Given our district’s stated 40% gifted population, the fact that only 20% are on track to take A/P classes in high school, our district is severely underperforming compared to those districts around us in my opinion.

*Number of Dual College Credit Classes available when Mr. Malone

retired - 0

*Number of Dual College Credit classes added after Mr. Malone retired

June 30, 2013 - 6

Misallocation of district and taxpayer resources: 34 out of 77 elective classes at the high school had less than 20 students, more than a few had multiple classes.

IE: Children’s Literature, 2 classes – 27 total students, Entrepreneurship, 2 classes – 20 total students, etc.

My conclusion is that Mr. Malone ran this high school like a union shop, making up classes with scant demand to ensure employment for those whose skills were not in demand. This tactic robbed resources from areas of greater need in the district. Those who suffered the most were the gifted and those in need of early intervention.

Welcome aboard new board members-elect: Mr. Anderson, Mr. Malone, Mr. Stuckey!
As of January 2014, we urge each one of you to get on board with our current board, supporting the progress made in the past two years.

We've got a good thing going here, in the direction of common sense, and Now each one of YOU have opportunity to contribute your sense of civic pride, business experience, and professional leadership.... in the direction of
OPPORTUNITY for everyone -- Our Students, Teachers, Springboro Familes, and our community of taxpaying constituents!

Look at Today and the Future.

We Believe in order to deliver the highest level of education we must raise the bar well past the state minimums and strive to challenge our children, parents, and staff to reach higher.
We can and must do better, our children's future depends on our actions today.

We Believe that allocating resources from areas of less demand to areas of greater demand is one comon sense approach to resolving needs in our schools. Federal and state mandates may preclude some reallocation, but we are still left with a sizable amount to influence.

We Believe that in order to take advantage of the higher level classes at the high school, more children must be put on that track at earlier grades levels. We support Mr. Petrey's move towards emphasis on more development in the earliest grade levels. While not all children will eventually end i a calculus class in high school, we can certainly better prepare them all for post graduate success. And that benefits everyone.

We Believe that the future belongs to technology. It is absolutely essential that we recognize
technology not as a means to an end, but as a conduit through which knowledge flows. Much like the wires that flow to our houses bringing electricity, our technology investments are being made to ensure the future flow of knowledge to our children.

We Believe that leveraging school fees, services, personnel decisions, safety, or infrastructure maintenance to threaten families in order to influence regular or levy elections is wrong.

We Believe the Board is elected to BALANCE the interests of students, parents, taxpayers, and employees. Many school boards lack balance because they are comprised of people with more allegiance to maintaining a specific establishment than to the greater cause.

We cannot just invest in "status quo."
We need a reform minded VISION for our children's 21st century quality classroom education.

The Children First budget is navigating us away from the repeated failures of the past. Now,
working in open, public meetings, asking tough questions, hearing all voices, using performance data and striving to find a balance that supports teachers, our community is achieving the goal t put Children First in every decision.

Welcome Aboard New school board members-elect:
Mr. Anderson, Mr. Malone, Mr. Stuckey! Let's
Work together and stay on course supporting the progress that has been made in the past two years. Children's First Budgeting Works!
CELEBRATE OUR SUCCESS

Springboro Families and Taxpaying Homeowners proved overwhelming support for the progress made in the past two years by our current board and school district leaders, by voting in appreciation of all our school employees for November 5th Renewal Levy! Special Thanks are due our board members for unanimously voting for pay increases for all school employees and reduced taxes for all Springboro Families! Thank You!

The following is adapted from a blog post by Springboro Board of Education Member David Petroni,
September 2013 Board of Education Briefing)...

...In The Direction of Sustainability

Our recent history of five failed new money levies has challenged our district, but with our staff and teachers, we have met that challenge. With data-driven decisions and careful budgeting, we have reallocated resources to do more for our kids without asking our community for higher taxes.

The budget through 2017 includes busing for all grades and a program to spend more than $2.1 million on new buses; more than $2 million in textbooks and curriculum adoption; over $3.7 million in capital needs and deferred maintenance; and more than $1l1 million in new technology; as well as our current staff salaries and benefits.

These needs are met in the five year forecast even with the lower renewal levy. How is this possible?

Our district will receive 6.5% more in 2013-2014 than in the previous year from the State of Ohio (approximately $828,000) as well as 10.5% more in 2014-2015 (approximately $1.2 million).

Since 2012-2013, the district has received $3.5 million per year as a result of a pipeline that has been completed.(A second pipeline is possible; however, the district's current forecast assumptions DO NOT include the additional funding it may bring to the district.)

Efficiency plans, reallocating resources, and increased revenue make the lower renewal levy possible.

If the reduced renewal levy passes on November 5, we will maintain an approximate $4 million carryover in 2017, according to our current five-year forecast.

With every step, we are proving that this district--with its record of excellence-- is sustainable with an even lower tax burden. We are meeting and exceeding state mandates as well as local expectations. We are building a technology backbone, investing in computers, curriculum, buses and buildings. Most important, we are being honest about what is needed through 2017. This is reform at the local level, and this is working together toward sustainability.

Springboro's Board of Education members come from different perspectives, but they share a common goal to accelerate student achievement in Springboro. BOE members provide a critical link between our schools and our community.

Excuse Me... obviously you have no appreciation whatsoever for the good things that you have in your life; and incessantly post your pessimism and criticism of all things good that others see in our schools and community. Why is that?

Perhaps if you turned the page from 1782 and took a Look at Today and the Future, you could rise above your pettiness and celebrate the progress made in the past two years, right here in our Springboro school district, including pay increases for every school employee and renewal levy that saves taxpayers $6.5 million!...and why is that? Simply because Children First Budgeting Works!

Those of us local taxpayers with a reform minded VISION for our children's 21st century quality classroom education see a Basic Truth: our schools and community are inextricably tied. Public schools serve the community. And the community supports public schools.

Today, we stand in an almost unheard of place: financially prepared to give something back to the taxpayer--to give back to OUR community by reducing the tax burden! This is an awesome achievement of ALL five of our current school board members and ALL our school district staff, WORKING TOGETHER, being HONEST
about what is needed through 2017! This is reform at the local level, and this is WORKING TOGETHER toward sustainability!
.... and that IS success worth Celebrating!
