Thanks for the inquiry!

Excellent. Well played. If you're going to take credit for something that went well "under your watch", you should also have to take the hit for things that didn't go well. Can't have it both ways.
Also, I think the grade of "D" was for gifted students at the grade school level if I recall correctly, not at the high school where Mr. Malone was.
I fully appreciate differences of opinion, but only when they are backed for correct facts correctly applied. Facts are a messy thing sometimes as many talking heads know.
It would have been interesting to see how things would have played out in terms of expense management and a levy if the pipeline tax revenue didn't come along which is a huge help to our local schools. I shutter to think.
#27873 Oct 11, 2013
Excellent point. The pipeline money isn't really mentioned a whole lot by the BOE (gee wonder why?)- but that infusion of one time monies is getting us through the next few years. Wonder what will happen when the pipeline money runs dry? Sorry, had to say it.
And yes, facts do tend to get in the way of a good argument once in a while.

Springboro School Board Candidates
BITNER and VAUGHN are the two school board candidates who should be elected our next two Board of Education representatives!
VOTE NOVEMBER 5, 2013!
DAVID BITNER and KOLTON VAUGHN
PARENTS REPRESENTING PARENTS
Let's Stay the Course in 2013 and Continue Ahead With the election of consistent, sustainable, forward-looking leadership!
(Why would our community vote to return to the days of endless levies, punitive actions against our citizens, and never ending financial emergencies within the district?)
Students First/Responsible Budgeting Works!

One time money? According the below articles it looks like the revenue is for recurring revenues. And the second pipeline revenues have not even been factored in to the current budget. Is that not the case?
#27876 Oct 11, 2013
Thank you for the articles. A close look at the school link that you provided reveals two simple words below...."Since 2012-2013, the district has received $3.5 million per year as a result of a pipeline that has been completed.(A second pipeline is possible; however, the districtís current forecast assumptions do not include the additional funding it may bring to the district.)"
"It May" tells me no future money is guaranteed. Besides any tax on anything that the state levies and provides to the local schools isn't something I would count on in the future. And at least rightly so for now - the schools do not include that in their future forecasting.

Since Mr. Malone, in his position at the top of the heirarchy of our school district, was the defacto leader of all of his farm systems that fed students into his high school, one would have thought he may have had a passing interest in the education of the children feeding into his school.
Why did Mr. Malone, with his 41 years of excellent educational experience, never seem to exert his influence and leadership for the benefit of all the children of Springboro?
As the defacto leader of the school district, was it not his responsibility to lead in a way that would produce positive results for all students?
The High Schools That Works program audits our high school every three years. There are repeated mentions of increasing the rigor of curriculum, increasing the participation rates of our A/P classes, putting more emphasis on getting children college ready. They show up with each audit as though no one was paying attention to the recommendations.
"Documents provided to the TAV Team indicate that contrary tothe HSTW philosophy, SHS
believes that offering low~level courses is in the best interest of students.≠ This belief,
however, was not substantiated by research or data."
Professional peers trying to be nice wrote that for Mr. Malone in January 2013.
With 13 years at the helm to fix the problem, Mr. Malone opted instead to take a different tact and use his large store of influence in the community to reduce the strength of the curriculum.
Seriously, Vote Bitner, Vaughn, and Anderson

So, if the first pipeline money is recurring (not one time money) and revenues from the second hasn't even been collected or factored in to the budget, then why your comment that "...but that infusion of one time monies is getting us through the next few years. Wonder what will happen when the pipeline money runs dry?" It's not one time money. Not trying to be a jerk here...just trying to understand your point.
#27879 Oct 11, 2013
The fear of change will not chase our community back into the darkness of previously failed practices.
Let's stay on this new course and move in the direction of FIXING BUDGETS/LEVY ALTERNATIVES leadership for our children, schools, and community.
VOTE FOR THE ONLY TWO "FIXING BUDGETS/LEVY ALTERNATIVES" SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES ON NOVEMBER 5, 2013.
DAVID BITNER And KOLTON VAUGHN SHOULD BE OUR NEXT TWO ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVES!
OUR STUDENTS FIRST FUTURE EDUCATION DEPENDS ON IT!
#27880 Oct 11, 2013
I don't believe it is recurring money. The schools' information says "has" received, not "and will continue to receive". And if it is recurring - what taxes the state giveth, the state unfortunately can taketh away.
#27881 Oct 11, 2013
But you just stated that Malone was the "defacto leader" of this district. Therefore he is responsible for all that has occured in the district. That would be even more reason to put him on the board since during this "defacto leadership" all these wonderful things everyone thought the BOE was doing was actually controlled by his hand.
Malone for BOE!

Unfortunately, the anxiety of unknown factors in our future economics and fianances is the REAL WORLD that all of us who work in the private sector live with; by making sure that we place our needs above our wants and budget ourselves carefully to plan ahead surplus enough to maintain priorities in the event of a crisis beyond our control. It does appear that some of our union school employees feel that they are above living with uncertainties that the rest of us deal with; but that the union should have unlimited access to our hard earned dollars; so that all they have to do is just say "we need a levy, or else we will walk out of your child's classroom, and disrupt your life and your child's education."
Unfortunately, there are no certainties, including financial, for any of us in all our tomorrows; that's why we have the present
to instill a sense of fiscal responsibility (fixing budgets/levy alternatives) in our local government leaders, including our government schools.
Time to get real serious by getting out the serious message of voting on November 5, 2013, ONLY, for reform minded candidates
who can look beyond "the way it was in 2000, the 90's, the 80's or whatever good old days that our union school board candidates want to bring back and "hold back" our children first.
Vote November 5, 2013, for the the only two school board candidates who should be our next elected board representatives.
Vote for David Bitner and Kolton Vaughn.
#27883 Oct 11, 2013
Read my lips... "Five failed levies" tells the SEA there is NO future money guaranteed by NEW levies.
Isn't that what our school districts new philosophy of Fixing Budgets/Levy Alternatives is all about?
Isn't the school district's five year budget forecast reviewed and updated by the school district leaders and board members twice a year... so that a quality classroom education, including quality classroom teachers, can be ensured, while living within the framework of our children's first budget agenda?
It appears that some on this topix discussion are trying to create
a crisis of greed with such whining "what ifs" our union school employees don't have more, more, more ....
Voters in this community should ask themselves on November 5, 2013, if Ron Malone's past educational experience is a good FIT with our current board's reform minded philosophy. Why would our community want to return to the failed practices of Ron Malone, who opposes the successful direction in which our district is being led and proposes to "change that direction" to business as usual; putting the re-emphasis on the dollar value of the educator; promoting never ending financial emergencies within the district with an enless stream of new levies to increase salaries and compensation/benefits packages for the union school employees?
Why would our community want to do that?

Wiedeman used "de facto" as an adjective (any word used to modify a noun). When used as an adjective, the Latin word "de facto" is defined as... "exercising power or serving a function without being legally or officially established". Wiedeman used the correct definition of the word. You failed in that you didn't interpret ANY correct definition of "de facto".
#27885 Oct 11, 2013
And don't forget Mr. Anderson, a more deserving soul could not exist in Springboro.
#27886 Oct 11, 2013
Au contraire, mon ami.
Those great things, that you are finally now acknowledging, occurred IN SPITE pf Mr. Malone's lack of cooperation or leadership in the right direction.
Mr. Malone chose to spend his most precious resource, his professional reputation, seeking accolades from his students and those employed below him.
#27887 Oct 11, 2013
Wouldn't it increase the risk of either Bitner or Vaughn getting pushed down to fourth place IF
supporters of Students First/Responsible Budgeting non-union candidates David Bitner and Kolton Vaughn vote for union school board candidate Charles Anderson?
A vote that increases the strength of Malone's threesome is a terrible thing to waste. Why throw it away just because it's free?
Why vote for Charles Anderson if Mr. Anderson doesn't support our Children First? And why would Mr. Anderson be a threesome with Mr. Malone and Mr. Stuckey, running for school board election to gain control of our children's first budgeting majority, unless Mr. Anderson opposed our Children First in favor of union first financial interest, just as Mr. Malone and Mr. Stuckey believe?
#27888 Oct 11, 2013
Vaugn and Bitner only the rest of the candidates suck
#27889 Oct 11, 2013
I can't vote for any one of the MSA three. They all think the board should have asked for the full renewal and think it was a mistake not to try. BITNER/VAUGHN ONLY! It would definitely hurt Bitner/Vaughn to vote for Anderson too.
#27890 Oct 12, 2013
Because my dear, three will be elected whether they meet with your approval or not.
Mr. Anderson has demonstrated the ability to deal with financial and business matters in the course of growing his business in the private sector. That background will prove helpful in evaluating choices of action in the coming years.
Mr. Malone and Mr. Stuckey on the other hand have been wrapped in the public employee cocoon their entire careers, shielded for the most part from the buffeting winds of economic life in the private sector.
Protest, stomp your feet, bang your head against the floor, even hold your breath until you pass out as much as you like, it will not change the fact that three will be elected.
