From the Dayton Daily News voters guide, Mr. Malone's answer.
"What is your key issue?
My key issue, and my major reason for running, is that the Board of Education has strayed from its role as a policy maker and had regularly become involved in the day to day operations of the district. It must stop micro- managing the affairs of the district and return to its original role."
The idea that the board of education is micro-managing every detail of the school district is patently absurd. These people who serve on the board all have families, day jobs, and lives they live each day.
Mr. Malone was most likely responding to the demand the board of education made that he perform the job and duties that he was hired to do.
Mr. Malone was most likely not that pleased to have the professional peer review finally made public after years of residing in the deep dark recesses of his office.
Brought to light by this board was the fact that Mr. Malone's professional education peers, working for the High Schools That Work program that our district had willingly joined, came to the conclusion that Mr. Malone had made the conscious decision to ignore their recommendations and take the high school down a road not advised.
The road Mr. Malone chose was one where by the curriculum would be softened and reduced in strength.
As the High Schools That Work tactical advisory team noted, there was
NO RESEARCH OR DATA available that substantiated this view.
Or maybe it was the fact that as Mr. Malone was passing out donuts paid for by everyone else, the boosters were busy being looted for over a $1,000,000 dollars, if the prosecutor of Warren County is to be believed. The prosecutor did not believe that the booster treasurer woke up one day 8 years ago and decided this was a good day to begin writing checks to himself. And since no one ever counted the cash money to begin with, it was impossible to say how much cash was missing.
Yet somehow this same booster treasurer was inducted into the HIGH SCHOOL'S Hall of Fame as a proud booster supporter just six short months before he gave himself up to the police.
If ever a man needed supervisory guidance, it may have been Mr. Malone.

How would a union controlled board spend your tax dollars?
Wasn't it Springboro parent, David Bowman for S-U-R-E, who answered that question with this reply:
"It is like asking the fox to audit the hen house to see if the chickens should continue to be used for eggs or served up for dinner."
#27727 Oct 7, 2013
Or maybe its because the BOE is elected to be policy makers and not be micro-managers.

Are you asking if we should allow the union school board candidates to gain control of spreading the wealth only in the direction of the union's financial circle of greed, now seeking to control the lives of all our citizens from the "womb to the tomb?"
Spread the good news to just say NO to the bad choice of union school board candidates Ron Malone, David Stuckey, Charles Anderson at the polls on November 5, 2013.
#27729 Oct 7, 2013
........time to get out in your neighborhood and spread the good news that David Bitner and Kolton Vaughn are the only two non-union school board candidates....
and that David Bitner and Kolton Vaughn are PARENTS REPRESENTING PARENTS and should be our next TWO elected board representatives.
VOTE NOVEMBER 5 for the only TWO Students First/Responsible Budgeting school board candidates!
David Bitner and Kolton Vaughn are the only TWO Parents Representing Parents school board candidates that are a good "fit" with our children's first budgeting 21st century education!

#27731 Oct 7, 2013
Moran ? who's the real moron here ? And Lambs name is on the ballot....not reelected, but IS running AGAIN for township trustee. Your post is full of errors, MORON.
#27732 Oct 7, 2013
Why were Bitner and Vaughn absent from the League of Women Voters forum on the mvcc? Will we ever hear these candidates speak in public, or do we have to go to one of their meet and greets? Are there any debates planned before the election?

If you have capable employees who do the job they are hired to do, that works great. When you have employees such as a high school principal who files unflattering portraits of his high school deep in the back side of a file cabinet, you need someone to manage that individual a little more closely.
When you have people who allow others to steal from the high schools programs for years on end, that person needs a manager.
When you have a leader of a high school that makes the conscious decision to dumb down the curriculum and add fun electives at the expense of core courses, that man needs some management guidance.
The morale of the story would be that good employees seldom need to interact with their management more than necessary, while those employees that are struggling to do the right thing need more supervision, not less.
I wonder where Mr. Malone fell on that scale?

Any vote for ED WADE or DALE LAMB is a vote for further corruption, unethical behavior and stealing from the public.
Tell WADE and LAMB that they NO LONGER have access to taxpayers funds as their own PIGGY BANK!
YES, WADE & LAMB ARE ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT and we have a chance to inform them that their "service" is no longer needed, wanted, or even cared for!

I strongly disagree with everything Mr. Malone claims is key issue and major reason for running. Mr. Malone can "run" but he cannot hide from the truth - The bottom line is that Mr. Malone seeks to re-instate the power and control of our successful children's first budgeting process, if elected as board representative, and then return the power and money to Mr. Maney's SEA control, just as it was before Dr. Kohls came on board in January 2010.
Mr. Malone's unionized tunnel vision cannot see that the Taxpayers of this school district are the original ones who OWN the affairs of our elected officials on the Board of Education. The SEA president OWNS the affairs of the Springboro Education Association.
The responsibility of the elected board members is to listen to BOTH the needs of the school community of employees AND the needs of their constituents who voted them into elected office; and that both school and community members are governed by our Board of Education By-laws and Policies in accordance with state laws. Dr. Kohls was the first ever board member to say in public meeting that the Taxpayers voices should be listened to (and respected) in the business of the Board of Education meetings. Previous board members agreed with our SEA president that taxpayers had no business interferring with school business -- just shut up and say yes to new levies.
The way I see it, since January 2012, Mr. Malone has joined with the SEA President, Mr. Maney, in efforts to micro-manage our community-wide elected BOE officials "business" to FIT the wants of the Springboro Education Association, while leaving our students first educational needs left behind. Why would anyone in our community want to turn back to those failed practices of previous union controlled school board members? Why would anyone vote for retired school employees as board representatives "of the community, for the community, and by the community" when everything that Mr. Malone and Mr. Stuckey know about managing finances they learned from the union mandate.... we need a new levy?
Why would anyone NOT vote for the only two non-union school board candidates who are already on board with our current board's Students first/Responsible budgeting PROVEN successful leadership?
Why not spread the good news that David Bitner and Kolton Vaughn should be our next TWO elected school board representatives?
Get on the phone, walk your neighborhoods, and don't be intimidated by the MaloneStuckeyAnderson signs of darkness.
Those in our neighborhoods who show signs of darkness are the ones most needing to let the light shine through!

This is excellent. Note that there are only two candidates that acknowledge the farce that is 'Proficient.' I would love to hear the other three comment on this.
#27737 Oct 7, 2013
Seems like the debate(s) would be the time to do it. But as long as certain candidates are unwilling to even be involved with anything SEA, that won't happen. Kind of makes you think that if they can't even be involved in a debate with the other candidates and a moderatior chosen by the people (he is the mayor) then they have no business being on the school board where dealing with the teachers union is mandatory.
Also we made the YouTube circuit...
I'd just like to have a board that could keep us out of the media!
#27738 Oct 7, 2013
How can people make a decision by only hearing some of the candidates debate? What candidates don't want to have a voice? I guess it's like mom said, "If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything at all."
I will say I've noticed alot of the Malone/Stucky/Anderson signs around town. Reminds me of Rigano/Petroni signs a couple of years ago.
November 5th will be interesting.

I just want to say thanks to our Board of Education members, for their diligence in being accountable to their community wide constituents b keeping us well informed through the media, through the school website, BOE updates, and the Transparency project.
Special thanks to our BOE President, Dr. Kelly Kohls, for the report to the news media printed in the October 3, 2013, The Springboro Star Press: Board President comments on Auditor of State Report.
In case you did not hear Dr. Kohls read this
statement at the last board meeting, you can educate yourself by reading the newspaper, thanks to our BOE president who diligently seeks to communicate with the public, using all means of the news media.
I am encouraged that our board keeps us informed through the media and appreciate Dr. Kohls closing statements in the Star Press:
"We look forward to the full final report being released to the public soon, and we hope it fosters even more cnstructive discussion. We want to reassure the Springboro community that weh ave taken action, in particular to bring these summer camps into the district athletic department, which will resolve many of these issues. Thank you."
Stay Tuned for more good news from our Board...
the more you know, the more appreciation will grow for the the good leadership of our current board, doing what's right for our school children and community.

So you're afraid of media cameras? What's wrong? Is it that your face look good on camera?
I recommend you make a serious attempt to reach for every ounce of common sense you were born with so that you're strong enough to resist the array of left wing lies and propaganda that are deeply embedded in the Olentangy youtube you posted.
#27741 Oct 7, 2013
And why should concerned voters waste our time going to the one-sided pre-arranged presentation of the SEA views of the union school board candidates, Malone-Stucky-Anderson?
The November 2011 union school board candidates didn't have anything constructive to say; but they showed up to say nothing constructive anyway.
Isn't this production of the Mayor of Unionism just a repeat performance for Sure that has been played out in our public school board meetings since January 2010?
Our Students First/Responsible Budgeting non-union school board candidates, DAVID BITNER and KOLTON VAUGHN, are wise not to waste their time.
