I'm with you!!! My child hasn't gotten a bus in the last three yrs.... guess what... I'm a no voter. Although I think it is irresponsible of this STATE not to require busing for high schoolers and Springboro continues to bus families that are within 2 miles ( which is also not required by the state ) I"M STILL A NO VOTER!!!!!! Don't forget to address the parents that support the levy just so the pay-to-play fees can be reduced. It's supposed to be about our kids EDUCATION! Levies are always promoted.. it's for the kids.. but we all know it's for SPORTS, PENSIONS and SALARIES!!!!!! Our kids are truly on the end of list.( believe me, if the levy had passed, there still wouldn't be h.s. busing.)
This BOE needs to make this district accountable!!!!!!!

I agree with you that this is how it should work, however it is not the way it actually does work. When the district levies a tax, they are authorized to collect a certain dollar amount. Once that amount is collected, they have to come back for a new levy (a renewal). When more people move into the district, it actually splits the pie down so that each individual household is paying less. Many times it is hard to see the reduction because other things change in your individual tax bill. We've been in our house 7 years, and our yearly property taxes have gone down about $1000 in that time (some of that reduction is due to a reduction in our appraised value, but about 70% of it is due to levy failures combined with growth). So when the district has growth, it collects the same amount of money from the taxpayers, but has additional students to serve.
Combine that with the funding cuts that the State is coming out with every year, and it can create a need for additional levies.
You have some valid points. However a key point that one has to bear in mind is the number of new students entering the district has dipped markedly over the past few years. What does this decrease in the district's growth rate mean? It means a somewhat decreased need for new resources such as the hiring of new teachers, the purchasing of new school buses, the construction of new school buildings, etc. Whenever the student population numbers change in such a way as this, of course the funding dollars change. The district budget has to be reevaluated and reforecasted by the BOE. Regarding the BOE, it feels good to know Springboro schools has generally a more capable group of people, at least as compared to just a few years ago.

It'll be interesting to find out if certain local high profile political figures will or won't be connected to a supposed investigation surrounding a mysterious $130+ K monetary donation to Springboro Boosters.

Hmm.....Let's see!
Now referencing my 80's-vintage yearbooks....
..........
Yup! I thought so!
Life on Earth DOESN'T come to an end with 30 students in a public school classroom!
Now, Question, would you like to discuss and debate the end of the world as we know it & subpar parenting skills?

There are two main types of operating tax levies:
␣ Regular operating levy — This levy seeks a certain millage rate (the taxation rate) that will generate funds either for a specific period of time or on a continuing basis.(Most are continuing.)
A regular levy does provide increased revenue when new construction occurs within the district (assuming the construction is not abated), but the millage rate is rolled back every three years when property is reappraised for inflationary increases or increased for deflationary reasons. In school districts such as Dayton that are mature or “built out,” there is little growth from new construction, so levies of this type essentially provide no inflationary revenue growth.
␣ Emergency levy — An emergency levy is for a specific amount of money, with the millage rate set annually to collect this amount. By Ohio law, an emergency levy cannot last longer than five years and must be renewed or it will expire.
The amount of money collected with this levy does not grow, even with new construction. Renewing an emergency levy does not increase property owners’ taxes.

What a shame. Respectively, Clearcreek Twp OH and Springboro school district is the epitome of public sector rich man, poor man.

speaking of rich MEN, betcha Agenbroad will throw more union money into Wade's reelection coffers inspite of the fact Wade has more money to throw around than the mayor. I will vote for Anspach and anyone else who has the guts to run...want Wade GONE! Tired of these two corrupt politicians .

thank goodness for "no tax jack". He is one of a very few that has the focus to key on the corrupt politicians and administrative leader for what they are, without the muddling of the school issues. that's one reason the township crooks get away with what they do....too few are watching them.

No, not a groupie at all - just someone who can't stand people that complain all the time about everything and choose to be a part of the problem, not part of the solution.
