The collective brains and wisdom of our BOE will not cave in to SEA's insatiable greed!
The teachers and their SEA representation wish to press our board to the edge until it has no choice but to give in. In order to successfully accomplish their goal, recently a group of teachers have developed a clever tactic of recruiting/brainwashing somewhat naive non-suspecting district parents to be their shills. This group of somewhat naive, non-suspecting parents is come to be known as S.U.R.E.
Read the WHIO article above. The level of compensation being demanded right now by the SEA wouldn't come blowing in off of tree limbs. On the other hand, this November 5th's (already agreed upon & planned) Springboro district renewal levy might be just enough to cover their greedy demand!!
Ah what terrible irony!! The more money used from this upcoming Nov 5th renewal levy to compensate greedy demands of the Springboro Education Association, the less money and resources that will be available in the future... FOR OUR KIDS!!!

Unless there is a union contract agreed upon and signed before the levy renewel, I will not vote for it.
SEA thinks the negotiations are are not going well right now, how do they think they will go when the community cuts off more of it's funding?

Vote "no" and walk away. Take your attitude with you. Keep walking. Don't look back. Sure, there will be pain in the short term. In the long run, Boro's children will be all the better.
No one in this community (in their right mind) is going to stand for the level of disrespect being shown by certain Springboro teachers. Our teachers showing disrespect in regard to the current negotiations goes far beyond board meeting walls. Some of our jr high & high school teachers have attempted to conjure up a measure of teacher sympathy for Springboro students to carry home with them for the summer by bringing up with individual students their personal frustrations over current board/SEA negotiations.

If you consider a 25% decrease in the school's budget pain in only the short term you are sorely mistaken. That kind of decrease in revenue immediately would DECIMATE this community. There would be no recovering from it without passing a new levy to replace it.

Good luck with that plan, you will be fighting the fire department for whose levy is more worthwhile, both, one, or neither. You might try real live negotiations and get this settled before too many wind up on the streets for no good reason.

You're missing my point. A renewal for the schools worth 25% of the budget expires soon and will need to be renewed in November. First, Kohls has to put it on the ballot and then it has to pass. Otherwise you will see the school system destroyed, and the community along with it.

I will say, I cannot defend the SEA for wanting to revert back to a 90/10 split in healthcare and credit in steps on the payscale for the last two years. However, the BOE's proposal is too far in the other direction.
I've posed this question before and I'll do it again:
How do you fairly judge how much to pay an AP Calculus teacher vs the remedial math filled with seniors in geometry? How do you fairly judge teachers who have a class full of students striving towards a 4.0 GPA vs one who's students are trying to graduate with a 2.0? How about elementary art, music and gym teachers? How about electives like computers and business teachers? How do you judge the worth of a librarian? How do you judge what the students know for classes where there are no standardized tests to equate teacher performance?
