SV awarded $100,000 in Safe Routes funds
Spring Valley Elementary and the city of Spring Valley learned Wednesday they were awarded $100,000 by the Illinois Department of Transportation's Safe Routes to School program, which is designed to enable and encourage local students to walk and bike to school.

In one article we read about a herion dealer who lives a few blocks from the high school. In the next article we are encourged to let our kids "walk" to school. Yeah right! You can pave the streets of Spring Valley with gold and I still won't let my children walk around this town until you get the riff raff cleaned up and ran out! Speaking of school. I wonder how many this year are on waivers and the free lunch program?
