You have got to be kidding me.

So, the San Diego Sheriff's Department has nothing more important to do than patrol the streets and corral teenagers who are doing absolutely nothing illegal, other than being out in public past 10 pm, detain them, bring in counselors to convince the kids and their parents that the kids need this "diversion program" to help them to...to what? Oh, yes. To help them remember to be home by 10pm?

Are you serious right now?
Tax dollars hard at work...while real crimes, well worth the attention of law enforcement, may have been underway.

I'm stunned.

The system wasting tax dollars? I can't believe the tyranny.

The problem isn't that teens shouldn't be out past 10, but that they have been brought up by irresponsible parents (usually only one parent or a parent and step parent) that taught them nothing about respecting other people and their property. I think the curfew should start at 6pm and end at 6am the next morning and any teen caught out during that 12 hour period should be put in a work camp for 30 days where they would spend 12 hours a day at hard labor and their parent should have to pay the city $50 and hour (that works out to $36,000 in case you're too stupid to figure it out) for the training the city is having to administer.

So what do you think about that my kid cottling friend?

So just how well is this 12 hour a day 30 day work camp going to work when a kid gets caught outside and misses 30days or so of school? They might have learned not to go outside at night but now they lack education, might not be able hold down a job and might actually gain a distaste for officers.

Actually, I'm 17, and I agree with this method. There are plenty of people my age going around, doing drugs and participating in illegal activity (sound educated enough for you?). I live in the Spring Valley area, and quite frankly, I'm GLAD they are doing these sweeps. Most of the time, when underage kids are out at this time, that's not the ONLY law they are breaking. I mean, heck, even the 8 year old kids down my street are getting high, destroying property, and tagging. Yeah, I'll admit it, my friends and I went and T.P.'d a public building at midnight.(I apologize for that, btw. It was a bad cause.) But yeah-- my point is, MOST of the kids out past 11 are, in fact, up to no good. And Spring Valley does have a lot of gang activity, so there's another reason I approve. I do NOT feel like getting shot. x_x

If you don't want to get shot don't go outside. Ever. As for every kid out after 11pm breaking more than just the curfew law, that's pretty bold assumption to make and I'm more than willing to say you would've thought differently if you would've experienced the 6 months of informal probation and 20 - 40 hours of community service for your little TP shenanigan.

It's after 10pm. Do you know where your son/daughter is?

Yes! My son is at home sleeping. he understands that he needs to be rested and alert for school the next day.
