PS. Don't approve the expenses. Let the wasteful people hang with the costs. See how they feel when it is their money they wasted.

"Powell flew out Washington, D.C., and charged for 212 miles driven to the airport." WHY WHY WHY??? This thief charged from York to DC when there was no reason to! HIA and BWI are much closer. he had to be visiting his family, who lives in DC, and paid for the drive on our taxpayers dollar! He probably actually only drove a few miles from his DC home to the airport!!!

Let this be the last post from my kingdom on this matter.
I have no problem with the 21 Century Program, but I have a problem with the trips that the state mandates them to take and when the trips are taken, they take almost an army of folk only to return and give no report of what they have learned, every year.
I am afraid most do not get the point. This is simple, what Mr. Powell and these board members have done or has been done is currently being done by ALL school board members in PA and will continure to be done as long as tax payers are not involved with the school budgets on their district.
Right now, as we speak, the administrators of your disticts are planning next years school budgets that will be passed next month. In those budgets, tons of money is being set aside for trips such as the one in question.
And, my final blow to the uninformed in that it is written into the contract of top officials that part of their job and responsibiles is to attend conferences and you can count on your right or left hand those posters who have actually ever seen a contract of a Pennsylvania School Superintendent.
So as I said, you can scream, yell, post, holla, complain or whatever you wish, but if you don't have the majority 5 votes on the board on your side, you opinion is null and void. And, as a result our representatives will continue to laugh all the way to the bank and party all the way to the west coast and beyond.
Next year I will be running for a seat on the board too. But, instead of a trip, I want to be paid.
Shut up BOY... they have enough worhless coloreds on the board

To the uninformed, who have no idea of the trips to Las Vegas, Orlando, Chicago, New York, San Franciso, Miami, LA, Philly, DC, and ALL, let me repeat that, ALL of the metro areas of the nation, trust me, these sorts of trips are common place on every agenda on every school board meeting every month and it has been this way since the begining of time.
Some times the conferences are held as far away as Alaska and Hawaii, the Virgin Islands and every now and then they cross the big pond to England, France, Egypt and the Middle East.
My point is very simple, since the YDR has blown the lid off this excessive spending of tax dollars in York, why not blow the whole can of worm open and tell it all.
And, if the YDR should do this, keep in mind that when the school boards invited you to a public meeting that was held to discuss the budget of the school and how the money was to be spent on trips such as this, those same uninformed who are now shocked, we not in attendance.
So to the uninformed, please be informed on this, with a 5 vote majority, a school board can spend what ever they want, when they want, how much they want, where ever they want, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
perhaps if the meetings would start on time, instead of an hour late, or if the board would stop getting into shouting matches, or if the board members would stop getting dinner delivered to them during presentations, requested by them of the teachers who already worked a full day and have sat waiting for them. The board is a complete joke. There is NO saving it. The only way to clean it up is to start over. Boot the lot.

Gee, I wonder if Mr. Powell would have spent so much on his meals if he wouldn't have been able to submit his receipts for refunds??!
