It was about 6:00 am when I felt the shaking. I yelled at my husband to see if he was doing something strange. He said he was just sleeping... I didn't think his snoring was
that strong...

I felt the aftershock at 11:14 am. I was sitting at my desk and it felt like someone was shaking my chair. I work on the 3rd floor of a building downtown Grand Rapids.

I felt the shaking at 5:39 this morning. It didn't last longer than 30 seconds but was really unnerving. My dog couldn't wait to get outside! I emailed a friend in Kankakee to ask what he experienced and he said that he slept right through it! lol

I also experienced the aftershock. The TV that's mounted on the wall in my office started creaking and cupboard doors were rattling. That happened around 11:15, which would coincide with the time in the news story. What a day! I'll be a bit more sensitive now to anything else that I might feel or hear for the rest of the weekend...

About 5:30 I got up with my husband and went back to bed. I kinda just doze on and off cause its almost time to get up with the kids and I felt my bed shaking. I looked at the clock it was like 6:15 I sat up thinking that something bad was going to happen. Seriously I thought that It was a ghost or whatever. I am over at my friends house and I was going to tell her how strange it was. She started laughing and said that it was an earthquake. She wanted me get on and tell you what happend. Our typically calm 10 year old flat coat retriever could not be calmed down yesterday. He kept pacing, crawling up on our laps and panting profusely. He typically exhibits this behavior during a thunderstorm. After hearing of the earthquake this a.m., I am convinced our sensitive dog knew something was coming...

This morning, my 5 years old daughter told me that the weirdest thing happened to her in her bed. She said she felt her bed moving and heard a creaking noise in the wall. Since we live on a busy street, I told her it was probably just a semi truck or even a dream. She told me that she was sure it really happened. Two hours later, when I heard about the earthquake, I couldn't believe it. I haven't told her yet that she probably felt an earthquake. I, however, slept through it.

I slept through this earthquake myself and was a little shocked to see it as the top headline. I do remember one years ago while living in Grand Rapids, MI and thought I was completely loosing my mind until they confirmed there was one.

I was peacefully sleeping this morning at 5:37 and didn't hear or feel a thing until the first ring of my phone at 6:00 with a friend asking me if I had felt the earth move. I told him no, but turn the TV on and they would be talking about it if it had been an earthquake.

Me and my wife Pam felt it this morning, but our cats let us know it was coming,....right before it happened. I lived in the Bay Area in California in 1989 when the big one hit, 7.1 on the richter scale, not 6.7 as Bill Steffen reported this morning. I still have the newspaper from then. The quake we had last night brought back memories from 1989, but not on the same scale. We do have many fault lines that go thru the midwest and many are always trembling, we just don't feel them. Another piece of information on earthquakes is that the difference between a 5.4 & a 5.5 is that every .1 a quake goes up, the effects of the quake are ten thousand times greater.

I think the earthquake in this area in 1987 was bigger. I didn't feel the one this morning while sleeping.

I'm in Kentwood and at that time I was getting ready for work. I am supposed to be running out the door at about 5:40am but I was microwaving my breakfast and getting dressed so in the midst of rushing I didn't feel the quake at all. I keep trying to remember this morning and see if anything was strange about it, but sadly I didn't feel it at all. The aftershock I didn't feel either because I was at work on a machine that vibrates so I wouldn't have known at all. :(.

I am a very hard sleeper and although I did not awake to the shaking of the earth. I did wake to my dog barking at the time of the quake so I am assuming he felt it and was letting us know.

I can't believe we just bought earthquake insurance about 2 weeks ago for the first time.

I live in Newaygo. I was waken up by the sound of my headboard bouncing off the wall. I suspected the dog jumping on the dinning room wall so I was going to yell at him but he was asleep on the couch.
