I'm guessing you're very familiar with all four Gospel. Matthew 23 ring a bell?("Seven Woes") It's a particularly helpful scenario of how it might play out today at SCC.(And if you don't have a very contemporary-language-version, I suggest using "Bible-Gateway" to translate....so you can really "hear" how the answer to your question might really come to fruition right in SCC's huge, TV-studio-like sanctuary.

When it came to those who preached false doctrines and represented/thought of themselves as godly, yet were oblivious to humility (made obvious by the degree of their pretentious and superficial agendas/priorities); then the Pharisees and Law Scholars....today the "prosperity pushing preachers"...
....EVEN JESUS lost his patience, finally.
Go figure.

I was a member of SCC for almost 10 years. I was a member of the choir, my husband in the band. I even worked in the school and my husband did a LOT of volunteer labor around the church. When we first started to go,(and were tithing 30K annually to the church) Pastor and his elders were more than happy to chat with us. When my husband lost his job and we suddenly went from good fortune to ruin, we were hurt and appalled how suddenly we were treated like social outcasts by the "inner circle". Yet, we went faithfully to Sunday and Thursday evening services. The end came for me when Pastor took all the choir into his office and said to us "We are looking to portray a younger image to the TV crowd, so I am dismantling the Choir". I couldn't believe that at 32, I was suddenly too "old" to be in the choir! I went a few times to church after that, but that was it for me. It is a shame though, I met a lot of good people there, who truly loved the Lord. Pastor Dewey, I went through Foreclosure of my house under your pastorship and not one hand of comfort was stretched out to me and my family by your "inner circle" in our time of great suffering, I truly hope the same does not happen to you. I wouldn't wish that pain on even my worst enemy.

I was not an actual member, but I went alot with my mother who was. Maybe some of you might remember her, her name was Carolyn Fisk. She started going from the very beginning in 1977 when they had services at the Womens Center in Manasquan. My mother was in a miserable marriage so she found peace in God and in belonging to the congregation. She didn't stop going until about 98 or so, only because she moved to Toms River, but even then she continued going, just not all the time. She tithed ten percent of her salary every week for seventeen years, she was truly a faithful believer and member!
She ended up getting Luekemia in 2000. Told she had six months to live, she asked me to call Dewey, she wanted him to come to the hospital and pray for her. I knew him from attending church with her so I was happy to do it. So, I called the church and left a message for him to call me, he never called me back. Instead he had his assistant call me back, I think it was John Anan?? Not sure, but in any case, Dewey himself was too busy to call me back or come to pray for my mother. I tried about a few months later, the same thing happened, he was conpletely untouchable, I couldn't believe it! Shame on him and Ronda!! Where is the love of Christ in that?????
My mother passed away April 2001. All these years I have wanted to write a letter to Dewey and Ronda and let them know how I feel... still might....

I guess now it's time for them to be humbled...

After doing some research here is what I found so far. Pastor Dewey promised church members in 2007 that there were international donors who would give so much money to the church that children could attend the SCA(shore christian academy) TUITION FREE! Apparently that flopped, and now after acreuing over $4 million in debt, they have filed for bankruptcy and again are stating that they are about to receive a HUGE sum of money fron an unnamed international donor, enough to create a church where bands will be playing day and night, around the clock. Except in more detail, this money is supposed to not only fund the church, but somehow create schools in Saudia Arabia...yes, good luck figuring that one out. Nothing is adding up. Especially since a few weeks ago the pastor mentioned how SCC (Shore Christian Center) is going to be funded by SmithBarney and a few other GIANT companies. Is this where bailout money goes? to corrupt churches?
Shame on you. You do not know anything about this man of God or the situation yet you judge and condemn him. And you purport to be a psator?

I attended the church and read his books. I have studied the word over 30 years...He teaches scripture correctly. You all need to look at who benefits if the church closes...YOU and New Jersey

Obviously somewhere along the way they lost track of what was most important or this would not have happened.

I think it's extremely sad that the church has closed. I know it's been a home to alot of people for a long time.

Please explain to me, as a NJ resident, and a former attendee of this Church (didn't like what I saw/heard and got out), how I benefit from this church closing. This whole situation is a travisty. My heart and prayers go out to the congregants who were terribly mislead. If Dewey wasn't so greedy, this wouldn't have happened. Why in good conscience did he have to have TWO CONDO's in Florida valued at $500K each and a house in Wall, NJ valued at $785K .... and who paid for his luxuries? His congregation, that's who. He lives/lived high on the hog becuase he, Dewey, the untouchable minister, wants/ed to be a celebrity and he brought down the church because of his greed. I know of other ministers who have large congregations that if they were greedy could live like this to, but they don't, and why? Because their mission is to SERVE THE LORD.....ENOUGH SAID!

People,
God as been warning His people to get out of debt for years now.Yes that includes leadership & churches alike. When things are going good & the money is flowing it looks like every bodies house is built on a firm foundation. But when times tighten up, we'll see who is built on sand. Second.
As this happens to more and more churches, people are going to demand transparency from their leadership in the areas of fiscal responsibility, and rightfully so. Third. I believe that this prosperity message needs to be re-examined. I believe in prosperity but with balance & temperance.God is not responsible to bless you because you throw money in the bucket each week, than He is to heal you because you stopped taking your medicine. It's not based on your works. It's based on HIS GRACE!!! PERIOD...

Oh, poor dear Amy. This Cult sure has you sucked in. Yes, it's true that if you pray to Jesus, for forgiveness, and confess your sin to
Him, He will forgive you, but only if you truely turn away from your sin. I honestly do hope that this event will humble Dewy, and that He will find his way to the truth.
BUT~~I believe that we should be praying for all of the people that Dewy has taken advantage of!
I visited SCC quite a few years ago, at the invataion of my sister. I could not believe how many times Dewy took Scripture out of context!!! They preached the "Health & Wealth" gosple. At one of the services I attended, a member, who was very poor, put his whole pay check into the collection plate!
They had my sister sucked into their beliefs, and she donated $10,000.00! They even told her who she could or couldn't date. Needless to say, she didn't get her wealth back. I left SCC, and tried to tell my sister that they where taking her for a ride. She got angry with me, and said, "Don't ruin this for me!"
So, I let her be, and prayed for the Lord to open her eyes to the truth. A few months later, she called me in tears, saying that I was right. She left SCC, and went back to a real church. I give the credit to Jesus, He answered my prayer.
I will keep you in prayer, that your eyes will be opened to the truth.
Amy wrote:
You should pray for Dewy. We have to ask ourselves "WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?" Then after asking ourselves that question we should know what Jesus would do....Pray for Dewy and forgive because that is what Jesus has done for YOU ALOT as well. He who is without sin CAST the first stone right!!!!! If Dewy asks for forgiveness did you know Jesus can restore him back to more then he has ever had and then some. Thank Jesus for his forgiveness. And besides no matter how good a preacher is there will always be someone who attacks him. This is just building Dewy to a real big or should I say bigger testimony.

Mr Imagination sent out a letter to his congregants 2 weeks ago stating and I quote “ to remove the devils curse” from scc you have to give a specific dollar amount….I wonder how much that amount is. If you multiply that amount by how many letters were sent out it adds up to a whole amount. Who thought of that amount? What does that amount accomplish? The people that stand by Dewey at this point are in on it or have no back bone…..My God does NOT operate through manipulation that is the mark of a desperate man….Your fall will be hard….many will fall fall with you….ONLY YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAS BEEN DONE……

It's all over folks. SCC is no more, except for a few road signs I suppose the good pastor didn't think were worth taking down.

It's Grace Tabernacle now. Hope it's not another Health and Wealth Center.

Honestly, how people love to hear what their itching ears want to hear. God = Santa Clau$e

I knew all of this negatism was going to happen but I did not know it was going to happen to Dewey. I am ashamed of Dewey and his doings for pastors aren't supposed to take money out of the offering and use it all for their own contributions. Ever since I started going to the church I wondered, "How come there are so many assistant pastors that this church has?" Now I know cause the main pastor, Dewey, was proudly but smartly taking the money away from the church.Good grief, who is the assistant pastor right now, his wife. And his son is in with the same situation right now. I do not find that worshiping Gods name correctly. I do find Dewey very smartly trying to keep all the money for himself and what I have read in other articles about this, is himself trying to buy a few condos down south in Florida. I do not find Dewey a good pastor for doing all these things. I do find it correct for Florida taking those condos back and leaving Dewey in the dumps. It must be God getting that money back, which Dewey did not have, and throwing it right back in has face. After all, I serve a righteous God, not a God who doesn't know what is going on, which Dewey thought. Amen!

Yes I agree, I am still in our church, but I am looking for another church,I had a very uncomfortable experience last week with a few youths sitting behind me ,I don't see me going back .there was no one no one to make them behave and they were old enough to no not to behave badly and the church just does'nt feel right can't put it in words but I thought I found my place back in 2005 but not anymore God bless them moving on.

Relax everyone. It is almost over. Less than 100 attending cannot support a $800000 mortgage on Dewey's house, Rhonda's $50000 plus salary and Isaac's salary. People still leaving and no one coming to make up for their loss. Unfortunately until they lose everything they will not turn from their self serving ways. Even then pride may prevent them making the changes needed to restore SCC. Pray for those left that they will hear God and find freedom.

I Love SCC; and I also love The Friedel Family. God Bless Them. Pastor Dewey, Sister Rhonda, and Issac have good hearts. They are good people. I am thankful that they have touched my family and friends alike. I wouldnt have come to the saving knowledge of the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I strongly believe that Pastor Dewey is a man of God and has been called by God for a purpose and a destiny. Please Continue to bless and pray for the Friedel family and the SCC congregation.

I am so sorry to hear of this. I went there through the 90's, and it was great. The SCC Choir was the best, and Pastor Dewey's Word was the best I've heard in the area. He was on a Mission from God. Maybe he extended himself a bit too much. I believe he had good intentions, and did what he did because of his love for his congregation. We all take risks for the ones we love. Let us all pray that the Lord RESTORES !! what the enemy is trying to destroy. " AMEN "

The real truth of what Dewey believes is called "kingdom now" theology. This doctrine he obtained from going to Princeton, they believe that Jesus already came back therefore no second coming and it is the Christian's job to rule the earth now. Dewey attended Oral Roberts University but that was not a doctrine there. He used to have this doctrine on his website but it is not a popular theology and definitely would not get him on TBN so it was removed at least 5 years or more ago. Sadly Dewey is prone to this because he is a very self centered man to the degree of a character defect which makes this thinking fit right into his "I deserve to be rich and rule and reign" theology. Dewey was a believer...maybe he still is but most of all Dewey is an actor. He doesn't promote Christ. Dewey promotes Dewey and sadly uses Christ to promote his agenda and the gullible are seduced. May God have mercy on Dewey for God is his judge and the Lord knows Dewey has not allowed himself to be corrected by the brethren. Some have tried.

I have been going to Shore Christian Center from
the year 1980 to 2000. At first Dewey wasn't that
bad a preacher. As the years progressed and the
Center bought their own land, that's when things
started to change. Dewey himself wasn't that bad at the time. A member of his staff by the name of Bob was. I am handicapped, I was parking in a parking place where there was a picture of a wheel chair in it which I have a handicapped license to prove I'm handicapped, but Bob told me to get out of the parking place. This happened a few times. Why? I have all the proof I'm handicapped by law to do so. Bob still told me to leave that handicapped parking place. Not only this happened but the same Bob challenged me to a fight a few times. Shore Christian Center was supposed to be a place of worship not a place of violence. One week I had enough of this sinful doings, so I went to the local police and told them these things which were happening. Apparently the police station got in touch with Dewey, the preacher, and Dewey told Bob for that was the last time Bob has ever spoken with me. What I read in Google, Dewey is sinning now, that's why the church is in trouble with either the banks, the law, or possibly both.
