Does anyone know when and where the new Walmart is going to be in the city of Spring Hill? I had a friend on mine tell me it will be in the Target shopping center.

it is going between Lowes and Publix. From what I hear they submitted their initial paper work to the city late last week.

What difference does it make where it's going? The question is why the hell do we need Walmart in Spring Hill? This town is circling the drain and dragging everyone down witb it...

The new Target is only half full, so why do we need a Walmart? We don't need anymore traffic!

I cant wait. More local jobs for the city. Targets prices are too high.

I lived in 23 different states and anytime a Walmart goes in, it steals jobs. The last city I lived in, it created 250 jobs, but a total of 2,500 jobs were lost. The local mom and pop store all went under. Two big grocery stores were gone, and two gas stations closed. Plus, the transportation companies, warehouses, factories that supplied good and services to all the local stores went under. The downtown area is now a ghost town. Google it and find out Walmart ruins small cites and towns! And, my 51 year old son was driving groceries by semi-truck to the stores lost his $14 an hour job and is now working at Walmart making $8 in the back room. He had that job since high school! Walmart also ruins the wages in the towns too! You still happy Walmart is coming?

If Target hasn't ruined this town then how will a Walmart? Almost everything sold in each of these stores is made in China. They are almost identical, except Target's prices are higher and Walmart's prices are lower. Nobody seems to complain when a Target comes to town but they always complain when a Walmart is coming.

Dog, looks like you were right all along about the location.

Can the city deny walmarts request to build in that location due to traffic concerns or would they basically have to allow it because of the current zoning?

It would be very difficult if not impossible to deny it based on traffic concerns. The best they can hope for is to make Walmart make the necessary improvements to its proposed access points and the road in front of it. It IS possible that the City could require so many improvements that it would make the costs too high for Walmart to want to build. However, none of this will ever happen with Dinwiddie's gutless Planning Commission. I don't necessarily blame the PC members, I blame Dinwiddie for putting them on the PC in the first place. It's a done deal.

Does anybody know when thay will start to build the store? I know route 31 is state owned but I hope thay will widen that road soon. there is almost 30k people living in the town and we only have a two lane road going threw town, thats really bad.

I agree. I try to buy only make in the usa items but Target, Walmart, K mart anywhere you go everything is made in china. Everybody stop bashing walmart and just be happy we have somewhere new to shop in the city and some more local jobs.another good thing about walmart is think of all the revenue for the city. Be thankfull people.

Walmart jobs aren't the type of "local jobs" this city needs. I hope you don't shop at any locally owned businesses because they are about to be extinct.

Target will be just fine, they have something Walmart doesn't....location. They can capture both Spring Hill and Columbia traffic due to their location not to mention they are located around all the restaurants in Spring Hill.

This is a good thing. The newspaper says the store will bring in about 350 jobs. I cant wait to shop there.

At Applebees last night, I overheard 2 SEIU organizers talking. They were just relocated to Spring Hill to organize Walmart. It's starting to get interesting and they haven't even broken ground! Suddenly, Welcome to Spring Hill, SEIU!! And once again, way to go Mayor. Better pay a visit to the UAW hall, you got some 'splaining' to do.

I heard they might build it behind Capt.D's. Is this true?
