Just answer my question

Spring Hill, TN

#1 May 3, 2012
I have heard that the Raiders have a new board, the Coyotes are joining TYFA, the Coyotes are not joining TYFA, the Coyotes are merging with the Cowboys, the Raiders and Coyotes are merging together, and many more stories. NO ONE from either team will answer any questions. Can someone please clarify what is going on! Would hate to have to take my kids somewhere else to play.

I think we should all take our boys to Franklin to play and give these selfish idiots running this 2 organizations a time out. Both leagues are a mess.

By the time practices and the season starts, it will be VERY easy to see which program is going in the right direction and which one is floundering and going in the wrong direction.

I would add that the sniping back and forth doesn't do either program any good. Instead of trading barbs back and forth, spend your time and energy on your respective programs and focus on the kids. That should be why adults are involved in youth sports in the first place

But who wants to 'wait and see" when practices start? You do realize that in order to be at practice we have to sign our children up prior to practice so waiting until practice really isn't an option. Why all the secrets? It's so silly. This is supposed to be about the kids not about you all and your secret games that you are playing. GROW UP! The reason both organizations are so secretive is because they don't want the other to know whats going on. If this was really about the kids, the Raiders would not have tried so hard to keep the Coyotes from joining TYFA and the Coyotes would STFU about TYFA and both leagues would focus on all the mad kids/parents they had last year.

From reading your comments to date, it looks like you know as much as any of us. While I may not "be in the know" and be able to answer your questions, I looked at each team's website and the Coyotes have only had 1 of 9 sign-ups and the Raiders haven't even had their first of 10. Neither team even has a camp for over a month away. If you are that worried about it, instead of venting on a message board, go to the sign ups and talk to them directly to separate fact from fiction and truth from rumor.

This is so true. People are asking, and asking, and asking but no one wants to be straight forward. Its not like we like the rumors. I have a son and a daughter and do not want them involved in all of this chaos. We are checking out other options. I can not understand why these 2 organizations can't just suck it up and work together. I am so sick of hearing how awful the Coyotes are and then hearing from other people how bad the Raiders are. IT'S ABOUT THE KIDS!

Again, it is the beginning of May and several weeks away from the beginning of practice. If you don't like rumors, stay away from anonymous message boards and go to a sign- up and ask your questions directly. I would suspect that you will get the answers you are looking for.

We played our first year with the Raiders last year and did not know anything about the Coyotes until towards the end when someone mentioned them. I am not sure about the Coyotes but can tell you from experience that our kids LOVED playing with the Raiders and that the Raiders do not spend any time worrying about the other teams. I thought our season went well and everything seemed very well run to us. I didn't get the impression that the Raiders were secretive or anything like that. The communication was always good for us. Like I said, I can only speak from our experience with the Raiders, and hope this helps you make a decision.

Us too! We had a great year with the Raiders last year and this year there hasn't been any issues. We are ready for another great season! Maybe its just the Coyotes that have so much drama? Not sure what the issues people have with the Raiders are.

We had an ok year with the Coyotes. It wasn't bad overall but the communication could have been better. I think a lot of it was that midstates place fault. The league that we were apart of. It didn't seem like anyone knew what was going on and it seemed like everything fell on The President and his wife, who are really nice people, but it just didn't work. I am not sure if there just aren't enough volunteers or the league doesn't want volunteers but that could be improved. Also, the places we had to play were neighborhoods I would never be seen in otherwise. They were down right scary. This will be a deal breaker for us this year. I refuse to go to fields with crackpipes and bullets in the parking lot and hearing gun shots in the distance. Overall, I think any volunteer organization can be improved and as long as we don't play with that midstate organization we will give the Coyotes another shot.

I did just that. My son is playing football this year vs. fall baseball and I had heard all the stories going back and forth about both teams in the area. I decided before we sign up to ask questions to people closely associated to each team, just like we did when deciding which baseball league to chose. I believe I received honest answers. Here is what I found out.
One team is growing, one has lost players the last couple of years.
One team has had the same leadership the last 3 years, one team has had 4 presidents in under 2 years and has a brand new board this year.
One team has stable coaches and according to their advertising, one team is turning over most of it's coaching staff and will have mostly new coaches this year.
Both teams play their home games at local middle schools. One team is practicing at an elementary school again this year while one team is supposedly practicing on baseball fields in the park in the middle of town.
One team is playing in midstate which has some undesirable areas, one is in Tyfa...but in looking at the Tyfa website, they are in the Tyfa conference with smaller teams and looks to play in some undesirable areas too and may have to travel to Cookeville.
According to their websites, One team guarantees playing time for any kid that signs up, one doesn't and says it is up to the coach.
We are leaning one way for sure, but may decide for sure after camps are over. Don't take my word for it...do your own research and make sure you get the answers you are looking for.

As someone whose sons have played football for years, I can tell you that if your son is a 1st year player, especially if he is 9 or older playing time is going to be an issue in any league. Football is not a sport where everyone plays equally. The Coyotes guarantee playing time but we had kids last year who played 2-3 snaps a game. Football is a huge commitment and you need to be realistic as to how much playing time your son will get for that commitment. Football coaches play the kids who will win games and the others go in when they can work them in, it's just the nature of the sport. I felt so bad for all of these new kids last year who went to practice 3-4 times a week for hours and literally got 2 snaps, but it happens a lot. neither league will tell you that, but just ask football parents you know and they will more than likely be honest. No matter which league you chose, first make sure that your son is right for the game or it will be a very long season.

Both of these organizations are sketchy!
Even checking the surrounding TYFA and Midstate communties is an adventure. Off to Brentwood or another sport my family will go. Way too much bickering!

This was just emailed to me. Looks like the Coyotes are now playing in a new league with Franklin, Brentwood, Hendersonville and a team from Murfreesboro. They also announced they are playing their home games at Summit High School and offering Flag Football and a Varsity team.

Ok, seriously? I was right there with you on the Coyotes team last year and although we did travel to some areas that weren't as economically fortunate as Spring Hill, we never felt unsafe and we certainly never traveled to a field with bullets and crackpipes in the parking lot. It sounds to me as though you're a slightly sheltered person who didn't like stepping out of your comfort zone when you had to visit fields located in a different economic climate than the one in which we live. Also, the season that my son played with the Raiders brought about just as many trips to fields such as the ones we played on with the Coyotes these past two years. Having been the parent of a child who played for both teams AND the wife of someone who coached for both teams, I can't say that either one was more or less disorganized, but we came away feeling as though the Coyotes were dealing with a lot of backlash from Raider parents and that they did their best to cope with it. I have nothing bad to say about either organization; it's a personal preference where you feel the most comfortable but I do think it's assinine to spread rumors and fabrications without fully knowing the facts and truths behind what you're saying. That being said, we've opted not to participate with either organization this year.
