I purchased my first home in the Oak Lake subdivision. The lots are are pretty big and open. There are only 2 markers on my property that show me how far back it goes and where it ends on the east side of my property. How do i go about finding where my property ends and where my neighbor's begins?

I am having issues with my neighbor letting his 2 annoying dogs come in my yard to use the bathroom so i plan on building something that stops them from coming into my yard.

One of the documents you received when buying your house, is one that indicates the dimensions, angles and total area of your lot. You would need to hire a survey company to mark your property line following the information you have.

Maury County Register of Deeds on the square in Columbia has a whole bank of computers where you can get a copy of your original deed survey.

In our subdivision they marked the lines with a metal rod in the ground so all we needed was a metal detector and something to skim the ground off to find it.

This is how I found out. If possible you can talk to your builder (maybe courthouse) to find out who did the survey and how the lines where marked. If you are unable to find the markers yourself you can call the person who originally did the survey and they will usually give you a reduced rate for telling them they did it in the first place.

Just remember to make sure you follow building and codes and or subdivision guidelines or your neighbor might get a laugh when you have to take it down. Our fence had to be 10 ft off the line in back because of utilities. Codes can help you.

Best of luck!

I would take your issues to your neighbor - it seems you also posted a thread about them not cutting their grass? If this is the same neighbor and they don't seem to have a good regard for their or your property I would discuss this with them or take it to the appropriate sources. Unfortunately complaining about your neighbor on a forum won't change their behavior. If they don't know these things are an issue, they won't be able to take steps to fix it. If all you do is put up a fence, more issues could come up in the future and build on top of the current issues to cause a major problem.
