As an Owner/Resident of Brookridge Community, I wish to state that I'm very disappointed in this "Stepford" style, Anti-Family/Child disaster waiting to happen community....

Would you believe, on Friday night Bingo and anytime the BOD deem, anyone can enter thru the manned "gates", just by saying BINGO or going to ?????

But the gate in the rear of the property that was opened daily for 12 years, allowing children to go to school is now considered a security risk (per:BOD)since the crossing guard will no longer be allowed to open/close the lock (per school authorities)

The BOD listened or allowed pre-registered parents & grandparents to express their fears, concerns, hardships and appealed to the board to reconsider their hasty decision to not open the gate after October 1st.

There were several reliable volunteers(retired Fireman, etc) to perform this function so as not to cause any further financial burdon on the community.Would you believe after the last person spoke the presiding board member slammed down the gavel and said, Meeting adjourned...

That my friends is the kind of rule the Owner/Residents live under here at Brookridge...the lucky ones are the tenants, they can leave after their lease is up...which by the way is just what they want...

You see, they rule over all the reidents and only allow votes on issues when they know the snowbirds are here to vote them in and vote their agenda.

The rest of the year, where year-round resdients are more impact by their rule, they (the board)vote themselves behind closed doors & just formalize by making a statment of their new "rule" or decision.

Also as an owner/ resident I find this to be an issue that shouldn't be an issue. We bought in this community because we "thought" it was a 55 plus community. Most of the residents are retired. Why would you move kids into this type of community? No park, or place to play, no activities for kids. Not kid friendly at all.As a mother of 4, I would never have moved my kids into this type of community. The grandkids are welcome for a short time and then they are welcome to leave. I'm sure that the majority of residents feel the same way. We've already raised our kids and just want to live the rest of our lives in peace.

As a former resident of Brookridge, when I bought it was a 55 and over community, and should stay as such. How did younger families and kids get in there? I believe that it all started out as renters and then it was grandfathered in, that those that were already there, were let to stay. Now anyone came rent in there, there are some real doozies in there, check the sheriffs list and see how many have been arrested for various crimes and they are allowed to stay. Keep the darn gate closed and let those with kids live elsewhere, case closed.

the state of florida deems real property as 80/20 so that means if you own the property it will never be 55 or older as long as we have the right to sell our property to whom we like.brookridge will get sued if they try again for 55 or older. I for one will lead the law suit

as long as we don't have a real security force any way, how about letting them man the back gate for the kids, that way just maybe we would be getting something for all the money spent on these key stone cops yearly

Lets look at what the presend Brookridge looks like check the sheriffs list and see the people arrested that live there, shop liftiing, drugs, grand larceny, yep, great place to rise a child, oh and don't forget the sec offender that lives in there. I hope they get their 55 and older rule passed. btw, Timber Pines is 55 and older, and they can't sell to anyone under 55, and thats been around only since the 80's......Brookridge has been around since the early 70's as far as I can tell.

What do you expect, it is Florida, the land of human garbage. No surprise regarding the type of people that live there now. And let's remember it is a trailer park.

Retired people should have bought private homes on nice 1/2 acre lot, would have been better off.

Exactly. You now have trashy types living in there, GOOD LUCK trying to reverse that.

boy you talk about trailer trash, I'm thinking none of you old farts were kids. we have a great park kids included, the folks bought the homes in here because it is a good place to raise kids so get over it. you would be better served by haveing the two highest paid keystone cops open and close the back gate for the kids instead of wasting gas and money sitting hour after hour on brookridge blvd with there toy radar gun citing little old ladies going to walmart.they do very little in here for all the money spent on so called security.the back gate is not the problem, but the front gate is and will be as long as every one can come on in.

I know about dealing with the B.O.D. AND YES THEY DO WHAT THEY PLEASE AND DON'T CARE ABOUT THE RESIDENTS OF Brookridge. It's time to clean house, get new people who will hear us and work thru problems instead of slamming the door closed at B.O.D meetings. Brookridge is for all families to live here without all this B.S.We have a GREAT Community despite the powers to be and I for one think that B.W needs to step down or not sell homes here any longer.
