So how does he the scripts filled so easily? I blame the pharmacies as well. They need to get a system in place here to put a stop to this.

Why do you think SH is called Pill Hill.

You are the first and only person that Ive heard or seen the term "Pill Hill" from. So who else has coined this phrase? I guess Orlando, Tampa and other cities were a certain pain management doctor (Jeff Friedlander) work arent "Pill Cities"? This doctor signed off blank script forms for his staff to complete at will. They did. They were writing scripts for all kinds of narcotics to people who didnt need them.

Lets try to keep this forum LOCAL. Things that are happening all over the country arent so relevant.

One thing that the pharmacy could do, although time comsuming is to call the doctor/practice back to verify that someone called in the script.

Haha to you too PAUL. From now on I will address you by your correct name. No matter how many new names you come up with I still can see you sitting there with your fried brain.

You are not to limit anything and I am not the Queen. All I am saying is these subjects are happening everywhere. I'd be more interested in news about the new State Park, Weeki Wachee, the fact that the County is paying some subcontractor to go around and fill the cracks in the street with "emulsion" to avoid a repaving job but it looks like crap. I'd rather talk about the local problems (few and far between) instead of a NATIONAL (international) problem like drug abuse.

This is supposed to be a local topix, not the national topix.

Paul. You need a life man. If you can't say something nicely dont say anything at all.
What happened to the deal. You are NOT a man of your word.

Your barking up the wrong tree, Paul hasn't posted, just little ole me. Now I think that you are the clown with all the multi names that was on here before, pulling everyones chain. Why don't you back off and others will too. Or do you like having the last word?

What part of "A Spring Hill Man...don't you get. this is a local story.

And it is a very big problem here. Every week there is a drug related story, a few days ago a HC deputy busted a guy with 90 oxyocontin, he was selling them behind a 7-11.

Hey Wondering when you get rammed in the ass sitting in traffic by someone who is high on perscription meds or worse, you will be concerned with the MAJOR PROBLEM of the abuse of drugs that goes on.

Just a few months ago a 15yr old dropped dead and his father was charged with murder. They were "partying" together and the kid died.
Perscription drugs.

The dad wanted to "teach the kid to party right", nice huh.

There are alot of young and middle aged people here who whether they are bored or depressed who are using script meds for recreational use.

When they start cracking down on people like this it will be not such an issue.

FL is known as the pill mill state, because of the lax laws.

The thing is all these people taking pain meds to get high, get behind the wheel.

It very much is a local issue. And it concerns anyone who has to drive on the roads with them.

We have the old farts who are taking the pills legitimately who shouldn't be driving. Like the one who hit Karen.

And the ones who take them to get high and then drive.

Either way it is an issue, and very much a local issue.
Thank You

Drugs are a major problem here. With a county of that is way under 200,000 people every week a story on someone getting stopped with either a large amount of drugs on them or under the influence.

Plus the drunks. When you have to drive and be subjected to them it is a big concern.

Was on Northcliff yesterday and thought this road is about as wide as my driveway. Yet you got someone riding right next to you. There is no wiggle room.

I really wish driving here wasn't such an issue, I used to enjoy driving.

FL has taken that away. Now it is a chore and I can actually feel the stress in my body, you have to figure everyone on the road here could be under the influence or not alert enough to be behind the wheel.

Had some old bag with NY plates a few days ago just stopped for no reason on SH Drive just west of Mariner. Just stopped.

Only because I always give them extra room was I able to avoid hitting her.

The only road I enjoy driving on here is the Suncoast Pkwy. Not too many people use it.

Just look back and you will see that it wasnt I who started the argument with Paul. He did. If you look back, as I did, it is always "multi name" who starts the insulting and then it escalates into daily keyboard arguments. You dont see ANYBODY else insulting or being demeaning to anyone. differences of opinion, absolutely. OK, sure the differnces of opinion get loud, but thats what this is all about. Debating in an open forum. But having one insulted, now recently I am a fat slob or something, is not right.
Back to building this site up a little instead of keeping it a wasteland.

I know what it said. It is a very big problem EVERYWHERE. Surely you know that the that drug problem with rx drugs as well as illegal drugs
is a national thing. It happens everywhere.
Its not limited to here. Nothing can be done to stop it. Its been going on for decades but now the light is being shed as the users take more drastic measures to obtain the rx. So, why cant they just get it and use it all they want. Why the big control? They want to be whacked out
let them.

Crack down on these people? What on earth are you looking for? Random traffic stops with urine tests? How do you propose to "crack down on these people".

There are a whole lot of elderly folks getting Rx legally and then selling them for the cash to live on. Then you have doctors who hand out rx for heavy drugs like advertising flyers.
One doctor was just busted. Dr. Jeffrey Friedlander. Offices in several FL locations. All doing the same trick. Writing rx like no tomorrow to people who didnt need it.

So, tell me, what do you propose to stop this problem? Make it government controlled perhaps?
:-)

See, the problem here is control control control.
In other countries most of the Rx drugs here are simply over the counter. But here we need laws laws and control control of the people and what they feel, think and how they act. Some democracy.

Sure it is a local problem. But it is a national problem as well. Instead of beating a dead horse as to the problem itself, how about some proposed solutions besides government intervention??

You are correct, I do not see it as a local problem but a problem that is all over the country/world. So you dont expect it to happen here too? We are not isolated from the rest of the world here. Yeah, you tell me that "multi name" isnt at it again but instead that we have a whole host of new people who just appear with out any introduction and are never heard from again.

This state is in serious need of a reciprocity database, if that's what it is called.- I believe we are one of those states that has NO way to cross reference which and from whom prescription narcotics are being written and filled by.

You are slandering some very good people. You come up with the most insane information. Pill Hill? Come now.

I think you need to read newspapers or Topix in other places and you would learn that what goes on in Hernando County is going on everywhere you look. Try stepping in front of a CSX train.
That will ease your mind.
