Suicide by Cop is a coward's way out.....end your misery by unleashing a hell on two public servants who are only doing their job and following their training.

For the next how many weeks they will be viewed as the bad guys and interrogated as though they were the criminal.

Sucks big time.

Wow - is there no compassion left in this world? Anyone stop to think that this man has family & they are suffering from this tragic loss? Or better yet, what happened to the old saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". Or, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". Praying for all families involved & that they find peace.

No one that posted their comments about the case knew anything about who the victim was.He was not that type of person like some people want to make it sound. If the cops leave and dont go in the home he falls to sleep and lives to see another day.

Your taught to shoot to wound not to kill head shot is obviously to kill. Officer was wrong. And people need to realize family members will read these comments. How would you like read this about a family memeber of your own.

I do not see why the police officers had to enter?!

you had a unverified report of someone wanting to commit suicide which is anyone's God given right!

He did not answer so you had nothing to go on and barged into his home with guns drawn!

H e was completely in his right to bare arms inside his home, armed and in bed and when he heard someone coming he got ready!

Police had no way of knowing for sure he was in there, nor if he was armed, nor if he could hear properly, nor if he could see properly, nor if he was in a clear state of mind, nor if he was having trouble with a medication he might have been on!!

Police should have simply waited until they had a clear proven motive to enter the home!

Now we are supposed to take your word for it that he pointed a gun at you and that you announced that you were police!!

This is a pathetic incident of abusive police powers and showing off as if you cared about his life or something!!

If police really cared they would have gotten family member to voice to the man so he could have had a little rapport from someone he knew!!

whats the real story, why did he want to commit suicide exactly??????!!!!

And 'what IS this type of person' that does this sort of thing? Yep, told you all, police will be "damned if they do, damned if they don't"!

Eddie, I feel that is what happened, maybe he felt suicidal but the way the article read sounds to me he may have been asleep...My question is why do they have to shoot to kill? I'm sure the first shot injured him was it really necessary to fire five more times? I knew Terry & I also know the police officers involved, I'm blaming no one but please have consideration for Terry's family & friends and may he rest in peace!

Knew this Man..My Prayers go out to him and his families..The Police did not do what they had to do.I also thought the police were there to help people in crisis. Not make them expendable. There is a better way.It would be nice if people had more respect for a life.

A few facts:

Cops across the nation are all trained only one way (except police snipers): Shoot to "stop the threat." This concept along with physiology of reaction time often accounts for multiple shots fired on the threat.

We do not shoot "to kill" nor is it ballistically feasable to "shoot to wound," this is only an unrealistic "movie tactic."

Sometimes life threatening decisions have to made in an instant with no time to reflect on the consequences. Actions will rely on training.

This is tragic for all as mental illness (suicidal tendancy) is often treatable and the deceased should not be made out to be a criminal but neither should my brothers in blue who bravely carry out one of the most difficult jobs in the world on behalf of the communities they serve.

God Speed to all involved.

you don't have a right to commit suicide you moron. The police have a sworn duty to protect you pathetic life until you become a threat to theirs or someone else. They can't just leave like some other coward suggested. It's unfortunate for everyone involve ld but the guy got what he wanted. some people do suicide by cop for religious reasons believing if they kill themselves they will go to hell. I agree with them.

I've been through some drama in my many years, I NEVER popped up out of the covers to point a loaded FORTY FOUR MAGNUM at ARMED POLICE OFFICERS. I don't "live in a glass house" : I'm not a suicidal MORON.

I want to edit my previous comment to include: The deceased may NOT have been a moron, but the simple fact is, if you draw on police officers or military you are at risk of losing your life. Life isn't a video game, you can't always pick and choose what body part of the person with the gun you can hit, and center mass is the way to go. Sad truth, and I am sure that these officers are probably second guessing themselves (everybody re-evaluates after the adrenaline wears off)...but bottom line is: they were drawn on with a very powerful handgun and they are home with their families. God bless the police, and to Terry's family: I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, IT SUCKS. God bless your family.

Family calls seeking help and say he's in there. Police try to contact him, no rreply. If they leave him and do nothing when he could have been injured, taken pills, who knows, but if they don't act then they would be sued for letting him die or worse the family goes in and gets hurt. Family should not have called if they didnt want police involvement. Alfone and his families actions, choices etc. caused this. The officers were doing their job trying too see if Alfone was okay and maybe even save his life, he pointed the gun...his choice. Thankfully the officers were not shot by HIS 44 magnum which is used for one thing...to kill.
