haha he didnt serve our country. He sat in japan and got drunk every night, it was always posted on his facebook page. And now that something actually happens in japan, he comes home...wow so proud of you for doing nothing. The real soldiers are fighting for our country in a "war" they are the ones that deserve to be thanked.

This is to dumb in N.J. You picked the right word to identify yourself, dumb is what you are and you might add clueless, too! My sons served in the Marine Corps and it is not all getting drunk! Marines make personal everyday sacrifices that you can not even comprehend unless YOU have lived it. Marines like Cody who are stationed far from home can not choose when they will come home to visit their loved ones and sometimes do not get to communicate with family or friends by even a phone call for weeks or months. Marines may get drunk sometimes in their free time, but they also put them selves at risk for 4-5 years of getting called to some places I don't ever care to see! Marines are often more times than not the first to fight when trouble arises! So here's to you dumb and clueless, safe somewhere taking your freedom for granted! Freedom is not free and I resent your disrespect of a brotherhood Cody worked hard to be a part of. People like you need to sign on the line and show some guts instead of being so quick to judge others! Semper Fi Cody and hats off to all of those who volunteer and keep people like dumb from being drafted like the old days! Sue

Sue, I have to agree with "Dumb" Cody is not a golden boy. He got in trouble for trying to buy crack while at senior week, and they are right his facebook page is always full of how he is ALWAYS drinking and thinks it is cool. He talked to his friends and family everyday, so dont be so harsh on "dumb" when you dont know the situation or him.

i got in trouble for buying crack? tell me where you heard this cause its news to me, and i wish you would be man enough to say your name you must of been in the army cause your to scared to put your name on this, and if you truly were in the service you would know you dont have a choice of where ever you can go and yeah i did party over there but i also did my part by helping people in the Philippines building a school for them and other humanitarian work. so if you want to keep talking be a man and put your name but i kno you wont so its ok!

Standing by all of my previous statements regarding this young man. How do you know I don't know him? Cody was the average American teenager when he was on senior week with his friends seeing what he could get away with. He is still making all of the sacrifices a Marine is sworn to make. He is even willing to sacrifice his life for yours and you do not recognize the significance of this. I feel nothing but sorry for you. Go back to shining your halo because I am sure you never did anything you regret! He is making a difference in this world and what did you do to make the world a safer place? I don't recall reading that Cody is a "golden boy" sounds like some people may actually be jealous of a picture and article in a small town newspaper. HaHa, is right! You are a laugh that you have not even a thank you for a service man who signed away 4 years of his youth. How many years are you signed for? Sue

Cody first of all thank you for your service to our country. Thank you for your dad's service to our country.
Just because you do not see combat time does not mean that you are not serving our country. More people that served in the military have not seen combat time than did.Prevention being on the offence is the best measure. Thanks to all who choose to serve our country.
I myself would have if I could have but I would not have been able to pass the phyiscal. But this is not about me.
You don't even have to respond to those negative comments. They don't even deserve your response. They don't warrent your response. They are lower than a snakes belly.
What you do with your personal time is your business, drinking or no drinking. You may want to reconsider sharinging too much of you free time on FB.
What is wrong with wanting to comunicate with your parents and loved ones while you are not stateside?
Those who see that you are couminicating w/ your loved ones don't have anything better to do w/ there time but to lash out at you. They must lead a boring life. It must be someone that is a friend on facebook with you and I use the term friend loosely for sure.
I have three nephews two MARINES,one that was in the Army one served 2 tours in the Middle East, One served two tours in Afganistan, one served one in Afganistan and now is over in the new conflict.
You do not have the opportunity to choose whre you will serve, it is the willing to server that is important.
Back to those making the negative comments. You can't take it personally. They even make or made negative comments on the family that lost 7 childern in the fire recently. How low can you go. Just remember it is hurting people that hurt people. Envy, and Jealously is their problem.
I went on long enough, Semper Fi my friend, keep serving proudly, Hi to your dad.
