is it that difficult to tell a baby mink and a baby kitten apart?

did you not read their ages?? they did the right thing. that's what matters.

Yes, I read their ages.... what does that have to do with it? And as for your comment that they 'did the right thing'.. sorry snowbunny, but I have to disagree. They should have left the animal. It's mother was probably not far away, and sometimes with some species, even touching the animal will make it's mom not want anything to do with it. They removed it from nature and brought it to a home.
I have a 14 year old myself, and could see her dragging a KITTEN home trying to "save" it. She would certainly know enough not to bring home a wild animal.
The point of my original post was, a young mink and a kitten do not look very much alike. And furthermore, according to the article they 'gave it to a person in the neighborhood' to care for. How old was the person they gave it to, and who contacted the authorities?
The story lacks enough details to figure out exactly what happened. I bet if we ever find out the true story (which we will not, because they never bother to write follow up stories) that these girls knew it was not a kitten.
