Tax free except for all the fuel they burn, all of their dispatching they get for free, and the facilities they get for free, all paid by taxpayers (you). Common misunderstanding about that but the fact is, they get plenty of taxpayer dollars. They serve us well for the most part, but they are NOT free.

my kid used to play in the Lakes Area Community Band.
Those were great times.
The free concerts are still the best.

makes sense, "there is no such thing as a free lunch"

I would say they get plenty less taxpayer dollars then most other departments

A lot of towns do charge you for the EMS services especially if you're an out of tower.
Last time i used one in Fox Lake was in 85 and i'm pretty sure i got a bill for it even though i live in Fox Lake.
Not sure if they still charge locals or not.

Las Vegas Restaurant. Love them.

And I completely love that we are UN-politivcally correct, and still have an Easter Parade and a Christmas Parade with Santa Claus, and a village Christmas tree.

i agree with you on all of it.
I always hated political correctness.
It gave birth to the food police, safety police, speech police, atheist police, racial police, and now Obamacare.
I can remember my kid and i going caroling during the Christmas season with my church choir.
LOVE the Las Vegas restaurant.
Great prices and you can count on a good meal every time.
I'm a big fan of getting breakfast at any hour too.

I love the 90% vacancy in the Pig strip.
50% vacancy on the corners across from village hall.
The still vacant Antioch Business Park.
I would have loved:
Kohls
JC Penny
Dick's Sporting Goods
Target
Best Buy
Olive Garden
Petsmart
Chili's
and all the other retailers and restuarants!
What does this say about Antioch? It says something is wrong with our administration. Other areas are thriving whith new businesses.
I thought Antioch was about progress not regress.

I love to read what unobjective people think is the truth in Antioch.

Let's look at some facts:

- major road improvements all over town in spite of a crumbling state infrastructure elsewhere. Done
- new CVS, Ace, PNC Bank, car wash, NTB, Fast Tire, Menards, downtown businesses, industrial park in spite of the deepest and longest recession in US history. Done.
- new Walgreens, winery, Aldi, child care center, Starbucks, McDonalds, multi million dollar public aquatic center, major new park, more infrastructure improvements, in spite of the deepest and longest recession in US history. Coming.

Now let's look at some of the things you would like to use in your upcoming election campaign:

-multiple new stores at the controversial site at Antioch Marketplace in Antioch (project approved by the Antioch Village Board), Village Green in Lindenhurst (approved by their Village Board), County Fair Mall in Grayslake (approved by their Village Board), Volo Marketplace in Volo (approved by their Village board), and numerous other Illinois shopping venues, not done. Builders bankrupt because of the deepest and longest recession in US history. How do you square all these failures with the notion that the world of finance is somehow different in Antioch? Can't wait to hear your explanation.
- 80% vacancy at the Pig strip mall. Who builds something like this on a side road anyway? Refer also to the recession.
-50% vacant land across from Village Hall. Mostly unbuildable due to Sequoit Creek culvert. Owner wants an outrageous price. Antioch Village administration bought the east end of the land to get rid of the mess that was there and have a foothold for development on the property for the future, now with a community garden and a cleaned up appearance of the entire parcel with agreement from the owner for use for the ongoing weekly farmers market going in there. Refer also to the recession.
-you want booming business like around 50 and I-94 in Kenosha? Get the idiots in Springfield to make 173 and I-94 a four way intersection. The Village has been trying to get it done for years. What have you done other than complain?

I think the Village has had amazing progress in the worst of economic times. It is not their fault that your beloved Antioch Marketplace went nelly up. Good thing the builders went bankrupt before they started building what would have been a vacant, partially built eye sore. Otherwise our town would look just like the commercial ghost town at Rollins Road and 83 in Round Lake Beach, Washington Ave in Waukegan, 12 in Fox Lake, and on and on.

Let's add one more point to your whining about Antioch Marketplace. Project anchor store Target pulled put in Antioch and simultaneously in 64 other locations across the US. Refer to the recession for the reason. And while this was happening, the builders ran to the town board for taxpayer money to help them with their underfunded project, and the split Board agreed The developer still failed. Refer again to the recession, not the Village Board. Perhaps they spent all their money helping you lobby

Come up with some new platform Mary. This one will make you look like an idealistic, unrealistic, out of touch jerk. Which would fit you perfectly.

New Walgreens?Already had one. With the new one we LOST a restaurant ,hot dog stand,a nail place and a motel. Four business for one new building not to mention the empty store where the old Walgreens was.Now that's progress.

Except for the childish sarcastic misspelling, you finally got something right. But not just those two guys got the job done. A fully competent Village board did. Can you imagine Antioch under Larson at this point? I can. Bankrupt and being run by some state appointed committee. Instead, the budget is balanced, productivity is way up, and there is visible, meaningful progress and results all over town. Thanks for finally recognizing the truth.

You are a hero. In your own mind.

Menards,McDonalds already were here before the idiots took over. Ace only replaced a Hardware store that was in the same spot. Aldi and Starbucks ,they must be invisible I haven't seen them, maybe in your mind they exist we all know how delusional you are.

Walgreens corporate posture is, and has always been, to operate stand alone stores wherever and whenever possible. Personally, I'm glad something worked that kept them close by. The nail place moved across the street (and is bigger and much better in a nicer location). The motel was a fire and health hazard. I do REALLY miss M-Dogs tho, but the owner shut down due to personal health issues. I've heard rumors of a Dollar Tree opening in the old Walgreens, I hope it's true.

It sounds as tho you'd like to live in Gurnee. Or perhaps McHenry. Please move to there. I do NOT want an avalanche of big box retailers. I like living in a small town. Light industrial development on the outskirts would be nice for the tax base, but I think we have all the retail space we could possibly need.

You may be right about Menards, but nothing else. Aren't you the same guy that argued last year that North Ave west of 83 would NOT be repaved even as work was underway and the project was completed?

McDonalds is going to be moving/expanding. They cannot handle where they are now due to volume and traffic. Hence, there WILL be a new McDonald's as the writer said. As far as Aldi, it has already been approved by the Village Board. Too bad you don't attend mettings or at least read the newspaper. Look for it at the SW corner of 173 and Deep Lake. Starbucks is the likely business for a facility just west of Aldi.

Being delusional is not the issue. I have FACTS. What do you have? Hot air.
