I am the widow she is speaking of and I would like to ask that this come to an end. Friend, I know u want to out the guy. Think of his wife and her child. Let it go. I somewhere deep down knew what he was, I just always try to look at the positives in people. He wasn't all bad and he wasn't all good, just like the rest of us. I can forgive him and move on. I would appreciate him keeping his word and fixing the thermostat. If he called or showed up to make amends I would do so. He reminded me of my husband when he talked sometimes. If he does want to do this after having given his word as a marine, I would let him do the repairs on the house but nothing more. He has chosen his path. Leave him in peace. Leave his family in peace. This isn't healthy for anyone. I once told him the story from the "Tao of Daily Living" about a monk carrying a sack of potatoes. He will know what it was about. In the end, anger only hurts us. I did learn something from the experience not all negative. I won't be so trusting or naive. In all the grief, he did make me laugh. I hope he finds the honor he lost for awhile. I hope he finds the courage he lost for awile. He made a mistake, broke his word of honor but he can find them again. Forgive him and move on. Life is too short for this bashing of him. Let it go if not for him then for me.
