I am absolutely shocked by parents negligence concerning their children in the water. I was at the beach today and both incidence were with young boys under 9 years of age. The dad sat on the beach and let his sons go out very far on a raft by themselves...no lifejackets. He even had to at one point ask his one son if it was his other way out in the water. The second was a pair of two women talking with 5 or 6 children between them. The kids were in the water and the parents were not even facing the water watching them. My daughter, who is a lifeguard was with me and said see mom this is what I have to deal with every day. I keep telling parents that they must be within arms length and they ignore and ignore until I have to talk meanly to them. What is happening and why are parents not in the water with their kids...sitting on the shore will not do!
