Gosh, this study is typical of the junk science the antismoking movement has been throwing at us. Big surprise.
People who are lazy about taking care of their lungs don't take care of their teeth either. What else does smoking cause? Motorcycle accidents? Bankruptcy? Divorce?

I would laugh if I wasn't so sad about the lack of common sense that seems to drive this country. A few years ago, my auto insurance company told me I would be charged a higher premium because I smoke. Stunned, I asked what smoking had to do with driving. The fool seriously told me that smokers get into more accidents when they miss the ashtray, drop the cigarette and lose control of the car while trying to find the cigarette! Needless to say, I switched companies and told him to let me know when premiums would go up for cell-phone users.

I hope you have not crashed the car because of the lit cigarette and I also hope that you have not contracted cancer in the 2 and a half years since this was first posted.

Beleive it or not, many auto accidents are caused by smokers when they are lighting up, drop a 'hot spot' or hot cig butt on their lap. Just google 'cigarette caused auto accidents' and see what you find.

Having a cigarette hit you in the face can indeed cause a mororcycle accident, ask any bike owner. The medical bills for things like lung cancer, COPD ect all caused by smoking have caused many smokers to go banckrupt. While I don't have any first hand knowledge about it, I suspect smoking may have caused someones divorce. Ask any dentist, they will all tell you smoking can cause gum problems, which inturn cause problems with the teeth.
