If it weren't for Channel 13 holding the uncontested title of Worst News in Rochester, Channel 10 could easily grab the title. I Team 10 sucks and is dull. dull, dull.

Why don't they investigate: anything to do with corruption or mismanagement in the County or City government (that would keep them busy for years).

I'm sure Maggie's administration has a new scandal brewing, and I Team 10 completely missed the last two.

I Team 10 is a joke, an embarrassment to investigative news reporting. I would love to have them, just once, cover a controversial event in depth.

I don't care about roofers, home improvement contractors etc. Dig up something that touches all of us, like corruption in County government. You could own the market. Until then, keep stinkin'.

Silly Sheeple!!!! Your rights are being infringed upon, and finally our media outlets are remembering how to be reporters, and showing an inkling of respectability. They are tracking more than "If the light was red". They are or should be tracking if the city has delayed or shortened the time between lights at intersections. A second difference means a heck of a lot more money for the city, and taken away the right of the officers discretion. If anything this story is one of the very few lately that deserves our attention.

<quoted text>I couldn't disagree more. With David Andreatta doing their investigative reporting, the D&C has finally stepped up to the plate. He's the guy that blew the lid off the whole Cigar Dave story, and now he's also the one that dug up the ESL sports authority fiasco. Two very big thumbs up to Dave D at the D&C. He's making news relevant again.
No one reads his posts, we don't even bother to disagree with his idiocy. I agree, D&C is improving.

As a reporter, blowing the lid off a 'controversial' story isn't as easy as it sounds. The boss or legal department of where you work will probably ask you to 'dumb it down a little' so as to not raise hackles with the rich and powerful that the story concerns.
I love the response of 'There was no wrongdoing here' or other 'declined comment' on the allegations. I seem to be hearing that more and more. Heads should roll.
Without these controversies like soccer stadiums, abandoned malls and goodoldboys clubs coming to light, nothing will get done about them. It scares me that this is only the tip of the iceberg.

If you're a reporter for any of the local TV stations, clearly you need to change careers, because no news of any substance is being broadcast.

The County seems to be off limits, as well as serious crime (aside from court cases where the defendant was found guilty), medical news and the economy (not to offend Kodak management).

Bring us some substance, Mr. Reporter. Enlighten us.

Big cities like Los Angeles or NY have hard hitting broadcast news, and report on incidents that impact the viewers. They don't spend time covering humane societies, kindergartens or skiing squirrels. That is not news, it's entertainment (and not very good entertainment at that).

I miss living in LA sometimes, just for the news (and maybe the weather). News in Rochester is horrible. I am watching Channel 9 because it is better than nothing (8-10-13), and PBS.

I agree with you.

Read the police blotter in large out-of-state cities and you will see a full page or two of names, ages and addresses along with the pending charges.
Here it's a full page or two furniture or automobile ads.
Is it because of a fear of liability for printing something bad about and identifying someone? Are laws different here or are there too many lawyers in NY?

We does NYC and Albany broadcast news (or the NY Times and the Post) name names, go into detail on the background of the crime or political skulduggery etc, when it is not done here? We have exactly the same statutes on libel and slander in Rochester.

Sounds like either weak reporting, or over scrutiny of subjects. Either way, were missing out, and we know it.

In view of the latest video that went viral RE RPD brutality. I have a story or who ever wants to hear it. My 25yr old son was attacked unjustly and mocked by the RPD in early morning hours of 6/23/13. I heard part of the attack on my cell phone. I still can't get his screams out of my mind. My son was 2 wks from having lumbar spinal surgery and told the officers NOT to handle him the way they were because her was "100% DISABLED" They proceeded to throw him around like a rag doll ever though he pleaded with them to stop. Then wretched his affected leg up behind him with his foot touching his buttocks!!! Then asked him how it felt being "100% DISABLED"!!! I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING SICKER THAN THIS!!! We have contacted several attorney's who have not even bother to return our calls. I will be looking out of the county for legal representation in this matter.

No one should have to go through something like this by people who are there to "SERVE AND PROTECT"

I will make sure this is known by ALL. I have not even begun to be heard!!!

A VERY UPSET AND SICKENED MOTHER

This is a police department that gave the key to the city to a cop that shot an innocent white suburban man, so what do you expect?
