Rochester police announced the arrest of a city teenager in connection to the shooting death of a man last month.

Daniel Williams, 17, of Portland Avenue was arraigned in Rochester City Court Wednesday morning on second degree murder charges.

Police say Williams fatally shot Walter Smith, 28, with a shotgun on Elba Street August 24th. Smith, who was sitting in a car at the time, died at the scene.

Williams' aunt says the family doesn't even know the victim, Walter Smith.

"I never even heard the name before," said Tiffany Jennings. "I haven't got a chance to talk to my nephew yet, I wanted to make an emergency visit while we were here to at least figure out what's going on, but my sister, his mom I don't know how much more she can take. She's losing all her boys."

"It was a lengthy and a very thorough investigation by the Rochester Police Department that lead to this," said Michael Harrigan, Prosecutor. "And I can tell you that we're moving forward with the case, prosecuting the case and bringing justice to Walter."

Williams plead not guilty to the charges and will be back in court Friday.

Go figure another one of "them" charged with murder in the city. Im starting to see a pattern here with all these murders and robbers it seems that they are all of the poor inner city demographic minority. Rochester's jail must be getting pretty full of "these" kinds of people taking up all the prison cells. I cant even imagine how bad that jail smells inside with all those smelly criminals from the inner city.

I have know contactors who work at the MCJ and they all say the worst thing is the constant foul smell.
