No matter what you think every new mayor, governor and president should have every one of their staff vetted because as Obama loves to say, the buck stops with him/her.
I'm not blaming the other guy. I'm just telling what happened and when. I was also asking a question. I don't get into the name calling that's common on this site. I don't know if Richards found out. I also think he should have told the new administration prior to the promotion. But I'm not making excuses for anyone! If someone doesn't agree with you does that automatically make him a Democrat? Really?

1) No I don't call everyone that I disagree with a democrat, only people that act like one. 2) When is calling someone a democrat "name calling"? 3) Wasn't it you that asked why didn't Richards fire him? If it wasn't I stand corrected.

If somebody has an opinion that's different from yours that automatically makes them a Democrat? Really? I wasn't blaming the other guy. I only said that the offense happened when he was working for Richards. That was prior to Lovely. I was wondering if he should have been penalized by the previous administration. How much time did Richards have to fire him? Sounds like you're blaming her and not the other guy. Who says he has to be fired for one offense? Should he be penalized? Probably! Who says that he wasn't penalized? I think those are valid questions. And yes, he should have told Lovely's people about it if they didn't know. He has to accept whatever consequences that comes from his possible non-disclosure. The buck does stop with her.

By the way, I worked for the Government for over twenty years. I was drug tested ONCE. I received several promotions. The background checks were not done as a result of my promotions. Background checks were done on a random basis or if they had a specific reason to do them. I think I had three background checks in over 20 years of service working as a civilian for the military. I left the Government 10 years ago. Maybe it's different now.

Read post before this one than get back to me about the democratic thing. Yes I do blame Ms. Warren for not doing any background checks on everyone she hires or appoint to any office. Her and any person in her position should and must know about who is working for her and the taxpayers. It seems like OUR country has gotten way too lax when it comes to the very people that holds public office because they don't want to hurt anybody's feelings and it wouldn't be "P/C". Even President Obama has never been fully vetted, he sealed all of his school/college records, passport, his records when he was a junior senator in IL and his medical records. He doesn't have any answers for his SS number or his draft card which has the wrong dates and numbers on it. If that is what you want for everyone in office that would be down right scary. I wished everyone in Washington, including senators, congressmen were vetted every time they are elected and re elected. Most people don't know that more than 1/2 of the democrats belong to the communist party(can be checked on the American-communist party website) or more than 73% of them(both D's & R's) have been arrested for DUI's and gotten away with other crimes like insider trading, bad checks, not paying taxes, rape, spousal abuse, child molestation just to name a few. There would be many vacant seats in both houses if these people had their backgrounds checked like they should have. I hope you agree that all of them from the local government workers on up to the C.I.C. should/must be vetted at least every two years. I am surprised that you were only checked 3 times in 20 years, I guess it depends on what type of clearance you had and what dept you were working for. As I said before, I was checked at least twice a year and drug tested at anytime because of the branch I worked for.

Ash plead to a violation; not a crime. DWAI isn't as serious as DWI, which is a misdemeanor. The big issue is Doorley and her no plea bargain above .10. Doorley is now saying that she doesn't apply that iron clad policy across the board; obviously she only applies it to white Republicans. Ash was in an accident, which is considered an "aggravating" factor in every American court outside of Monroe County but Doorley absurdly claims Ash to have mitigating factors in his favor. Doorley has proven that she's now going to arbitrate rather than fairly prosecute. Quite frankly, everyone in Monroe County without a DWI or DWAI or other criminal conviction in the last ten years should be offered the plea to a DWAI; especially if, unlike Ash, they weren't out playing demolition derby. The other guy was over the limit also but this is New York and both drivers were at fault; Ash could have avoided the accident by not driving around tipsy at 2:30 AM with his reflexes possibly diminished. However, if he's good at what he does, leave him alone so he can make us money; DWAI need not be reported unless he drives something other than his own vehicle for the ROC. So, good for you Ash; just please do us proud and prove that Lovely made a good choice. As for Sandra Doorley; whammy on you for unbendingly framing every White Republican out there that you can with your alleged "no plea bargains above .10 for anyone." Doorley is obviously wicked and a serious threat to our city and county. A little side note; 92 percent of Vehicular Homicides (Manslaughter) and 89 percent of Vehicular Assaults involve an assailant with a BAC of .15 or higher and a high majority of the attacks perpetrated by assailants below .15 were alcohol in combination with other drugs and\or speeding; Ash was hardly endangering anyone but himself at .14.

You are going to see a lot more of this type of stuff like never before.
You see everyone in the RPD knows that the new Mayor is going to bring change to the RPD. She's not going to allow the white racist cops to do the things they've been doing for years.

Well, the RPD knows this, so the battle has already begone. The RPD will be running the names of everyone and everybody that has anything to do with her and her office to discredit her and her office.

I'm glad she didn't get rid of this guy. She needs to show the RPD officers that she can handle it and she don't do any knee-jerk reaction to their little games.

I can't wait till she start showing her moves in the battle against the white racist RPD. I'm sure it will be soon. The RPD can't behave for too long without doing some crazy racist thing, and when they do, we are not going to see her or even her white police chief saying the officer was only doing his job and did nothing wrong.

If one follows your logic, the RPD are psychic and knew back in July that this drunk who crashed his Mercedes was going to be promoted by the yet to be elected Mayor Ditzy. She is going to pull an Obama Benghazi on this one and ignore it and hope it disappears. I will be emailing Mayor Ditzy today to ask her what she intends to do about this drunk. The city is screwed. That's a for sure.

Here is the definitive bottom line.

If she doesn't revoke his appointment, she sends a message to the community that law and order is not her first priority. She has no other choice but to fire him... he didn't disclose this critical fact to her.

She must set the bar high (in the eyes of voters), or risk being a one term and ineffective Mayor.

<quoted text>She will definitely gain some points with the naysayers if she does so. If not, quite the opposite will occur. I will also remember this when Sandra Doorely is up for re-election. Apparently the same rules in her quest to crack down on drunk drivers don't apply equally to all. Not only was he nearly 2x the legal limit, he got in a car crash. Fiandach will have a field day with this. Any DWI lawyer when pleading their client's case can use this to their advantage for sure.
Her credibility is on the line with this one. Her only logical solution would be to rescind his appointment, based on facts he choose to conceal.

She can say, with heavy heart, I have discharged a department head who didn't disclose an incident I felt was important. This will portray her as a strong leader who insists on department administrators that share her values. Her decision will set the tone for her administration.

Is that what DWAI means? Alcohol?

I thought drinking and driving was DWI?

No Drinking and Driving is Drinking and Driving. DWI is Driving While Intoxicated. You can be Drinking and Driving without being Intoxicated and you can be Intoxicated without Drinking and Driving.
