So, Walmart, Wegmans and Kindercare do not recycle?
Walmart employee told me that, family memeber works for wegman's told me that and now Kindercare has been posted as not recycling. Anyone know who is supposed to be in charge of these things being followed thru?

If this is true SHAME ON THESE COMPANIES!

And shame on the recycling people who are supposed to be overseeing this.

This is the kind of post that makes my blood boil. It's such an easy thing to recycle and plain irresponsible not to. These companies should be setting an example by stepping up to the plate and doing the right thing.

My boss found out our company doesn't recycle, and followed through, finding out that the recycle people charge money to pick up recyclables so our company wouldn't do it. It always comes down to the bottom line.

If memory serves me correctly the Recycling Law in New York State requires everyone to recycle. So instead of lamenting the fact that your employer or someone else's does not, or your neighbor, verify that they do not, then inform the proper authorities. Why not become proactive in the matter than a lamenting spectator. This isn't tv.

I actually did that. I called the Town Hall on a place next door to where i work. The town Hall of Penfield said they would send a letter to the company but that is all they can do. I was like are you kidding me? Why say you enforce this if you don't or won't.

I had to go to Tops in Penfield and drove across the street to see if the Kindercare had recycling bins or anything like it. Youa re right, they don't. I also drove around to the back of Top's and didn't see anything either.
Where are the authorites in this?

I work for Hallmark as a Retail Merchandiser. I service the Hallmark section in Walmarts. They DO NOT RECYCLE. People would be shocked at all the product that goes in the walmart dumpster. Bags, cars, gift wrap, party supplies. When a new product comes in and replaces an old one the current stock goes on 'off' status. That then gets scanned out of the inventory system and just thrown in the dumpster!!!!!! Hallmark used to let their employees take home these items for personal use but they do longer let us take any items. They are a wasteful company. And on top of this they have a line of cards out that are made out of recycled materials - HAHAHAHAHA - what a joke.

it it usually cheaper to pay to recycle then pay for garbage & yet businesses see it as an expense they can't afford. cities that have mandatory recycling ordinances can't enforce them. Also there may be new laws that say garbage and recycling have to be in an enclosure but the builders of yesterday before recycling laws came into play didn't make one big enough for anything more then a 4 yard dumpster, all you have to do is drive behind a shopping center or the stores to see if they recycle or not
most of them do not or they consider recycling their cardboard enough. I do waste audits. there's a lot more to why businnesses won't recycle or can't.
corporate decisions, property managers, lazy store managers, the list and excuses is endless.

I know of a Columbia Sportswear store, where they do not recycle several things. The plastic hangars and the plastic bag that covers each piece of clothing are all recyclable, yet they just throw it all into the trash. Probably over 100 lbs per week.

i just want to complain about companies that they say are doing recycling but NOT they keep contaminating the planet with their rubbish, example PRET A MANGER sandwich company that this year sales have increased enormously they dont bother to recycle...thousands of containers, cardboard, packaging are put in the rubbish. They really dont care at all about SUSTAINABILITY.
