That is fine that you don't care Tony s. but the real issue is NOT so much the closing of the schools but how did it get like this? I have just read the democrat and chronicle article which the bishop is at peace with his decision. Well, I am glad he can say that as there are many others in the diocese that are not.
If I hear from one more person, the quote from the bishop 'I went to a public school' I will puke.
I am really wondering how Christian is our bishop. He has destroyed what many have believed in but yet he spends the church's money along with his task force (Wayne LeChase on the force?). I think between Fr. Hart and Bishop Clark, the diocese of Rochester is in deep trouble. These two are not being good Christians with their actions so I guess I wonder if this is really the Catholic religion anymore?

Its a simple concept; not that difficult I think. You have no students.. with no students.. there is no money.. with no money.. you can operator 30+ schools. How do parents think they can mobilize and save the system? They going to take second mortgages against their homes and give the them more money? I don't think so.

Agreed. I went to Rochester Catholic Schools from K-12, and believe me, there's nothing special about them. They're basically just public schools with a dress code. A majority of the kids in my high school did drugs, cheated on tests, had sex, etc (you know, all those things Catholics supposedly don't do).
Have you driven past Kearney or Aquinas lately around the time school gets out ? I see more inner city blacks than I do white Catholics ! You can't tell me all these single welfare mothers on Joseph Avenue are paying $7,000 a year out of pocket to send little Tyrone to Bishop Kearney and Aquinas. Of course not, they go for free and the white kids' parents pay the difference in the form of higher tuition. It's the same old story at some of the elementary schools as well. Minorities get everything for free and whites have to pay double. Aside from the financial aspect, do you think having trashy inner city kids infilitrate "nice" Catholic Schools, improves the learning environment for everyone else ?
This is so true! Catholic & Christian schools are no off better than public schools these days. Maybe because you don't need to attend the church like you did in the past? Who knows just a guess. And we all know where the money goes!

Do you know what the financial impact to your taxs is when the Catholic Schools shut down? Do you understand that the public schools have no room so your taxs will go up to build more room for those that CHOOSE to pay for their education. It is a personal choice some people yes do live with out luxurys so they can send their kids to Catholic shools. Yes there are some kids who are black, hispanic, etc.. that want to have a Catholic education we are all aware that they dont pay but, were not complaining you are!

Let me reiterate,
There is, however, a false traditionalism which does not remain in communion with the Magisterium. Divine Revelation and the documents of the Church make it clear that only the Magisterium can ultimately judge these matters and that the salvation of the faithful does not depend on having to privately interpret the Sacred Tradition or govern oneself in ecclesiastical affairs.
Mt. 16:18
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
Lk. 10:16
Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."
"The reason why the Catholic Church and is attacked so vehemently by the media and others, is because She is the One True Church. Satan doesn't waste his time with false churches."

In response to "Former Catholic" - if your view on black vs. white children in the Catholic schools is your christian attitude, then I feel sorry for your children and am glad I chose public school for my children.

First of all, how many black Catholics have you ever known ? I'm guessing zero because there's rarely such a thing as black Catholics. Why should they get a free ride at a religious school in which they don't even believe in the religion itself ? When I went to Bishop Kearney, we had a small handful of Muslim students and they had to leave in the middle of class a few times a day to go do their little song and dance and pray to their b.s. Allah. All of this in a Catholic school !

A Catholic school should be for CATHOLICS. If you're going to allow Muslims, Baptists, and Atheists in, then there's nothing Catholic about it anymore. It's just a public school with a dress code that costs $7,000/year to attend (or free if you're not white/Catholic). No wonder the whole Diocese has just about gone under financially.

They aren't closing all of the Catholic Schools. They also can't keep them open because of money. They can't borrow money and expect advertising to bury them out.

Not only are you a former Catholic you are an ignorant racist one at that. I know many African American Catholics. The bishop of our diocese is an African American. The best of Catholic schools don't discriminate on the basis of religion and could if used correctly should be the most effective tool for evangilization the Church has. I'm sorry your experience was so poor. Did you even attempt to except what was offered you or did you fight it tooth and nail?

Trashy inner city white kids? Who the hell do you think you are to make a comment like that. Im not sure if you have children of your ownr but trust me if you do I'm sure there out doing the exact same things as these trashy students you refer too. Sex, drugs, alcohol, breaking the law in some way. You are an ignorant racist idiot. People like you make me sick, and karma is a bitch and it will come back to bite you in the ass.
