Letter: Move VA facility into Medley Centre

Jul 7, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Rochester Democrat and Chronicle

The current VA facility is overcrowded and has inadequate parking. A possible solution for both problems might be to move the VA Facility into Medley.

I was wrong, 6 incidents. For some reason, 3 of them are under the group listing on Kings Highway.

Besides the upswing of internet shopping, the stores that set up shop in the malls are getting creamed by yet another layer of leaches feeding off their profits ... Mall Management.

Store owners in NY are burdened with a rather large state & county tax just for the privilege to run a business.

Add on top of that, the higher cost of having your store in a mall rather than renting on a street corner makes it even harder for merchants.

If you travel to Florida, where the business taxes are much less ... their strip malls have no vacancies.
Stores that sell sea shells right across from the beach!

Do you know what the definition of "Mall" is???
Target is NOT in the Mall.
IHOP is not in the Mall.
The only mall stores left that are open are Sears and Macy's.
Are you people saying that all the criminals left and are not at Sears and Macys? How come we don't hear of any news stories of recent crime at Sears or Macys??
And to top it off, if your talking about car break-ins, in recent years the only car break-ins at malls are at the other 3 malls and the suspects were WHITE. How do you explain that??
Whites break in to cars at the other 3 malls, yet it was always blacks that broke into the cars at the Irondequoit mall??
Do you understand how stupid you sound?
You are the stupid one here Rhonda.
1) the Mall does not exist anymore. There is no mall just a building that was a mall.
2) With the former mall gone, yes burgles have moved on to greener pastures for reasons I have previously mentioned and you seem to ignore.
3)The Target and IHOP while not connected to the FORMER IRONDEQUOIT MALL are still on the same property as the FORMER MALL.
4) Did not say blacks were to blame. You did.I mentioned the the problems of loitering and thefts.
Put down the glass stem and engage in the full context of the discussion and facts. I mentioned very real very strong reasons why those other malls don't suffer the way Irondequoit Mall did. They have much better locations for a wider draw of people from larger areas and have had more store selections and anchor stores that carried full selections. The I-mall always had anchor stores that had a limited offering of items and services.I-mall lost the CONVENIENCE.Once the I-mall became crowded with kids loitering and causeing trouble one might as well go to one of the real malls that yes have the same problems, but offer far superior shopping experiences. It should never have been built. It thrived for a few years because it was new and novel.Once that wore off it became a hangout mall.Even from the beginning it was a mall of limited offerings.

On top of it all, the stores connected to the FORMER MALL never have more than 30 people at them combined. Not really a pick-pocket paradise.Any two-bit crook still working that place is going to the Target that is on the same property.Better yet they are going to the mall on the same bus lines.Greece Ridge, which did have upswings in problems when I-Mall went downhill.

Midtown Mall is gone, but the Irondequoit Mall or whatever mall name you want to use is still there.
If the Mall wasn't there, it wouldn't be getting tax breaks.
The building the mall was in is still there but there is no mall in Irondequoit, only the shell of a former mall.

If you go look at all the tax break forms, I'm sure you will see that a MALL in Irondequoit is receiving some big gas tax breaks.
The legal documents of the tax break don't title it "Former Mall".
Your soo stupid, its like I'm talking to a 13 yr old kid.
If a house is vacant, is it no-longer a house??
When someone is trying to sell an empty house, do they say it's a "former house"??
Tax break coding does not make any difference.I still see Rhonda still playing child like semantic games.A house is always a house. A house is an architectural object. When a house is vacant it is no longer a home. When a commercial building is filled with rows of independent stores autonomous of each other but connected by a common enclosed walkway way we have a mall. When it is completely empty it is just an empty commercial building. When someone tries to sell an empty house they often times will call it a former home.

Plus, its not just a shell, if you go inside there is stuff inside.
A "shell" as you call it would have nothing inside including internal walls.
Wrong again Rhonda.Any empty building not in use is a shell of a building. It is an empty shell. Walls would have nothing to do with it as all buildings have walls.

The truth is and the facts are that blacks and city folk were boycotting the Irondequoit mall for a few years for the racist treatment from the mall security and the greece police.
I'm sure the loss of the dollars from the city people and the black people that helped hurt the mall, but none of the racist want to think that.
They think that even tho half of the areas population lives in the city that a suburban mall could and would survive with out them.
When you have a poster who thinks the Greece police patrol Irondequoit. I think you have a product of the RCSD.
and you have an even bigger idiot when one thinks everyone that posts name is Rhonda.

Is Sears and Macy's empty??
Go back and read the whole thread. I already addressed Sears and Macy's.They alone, with their mall entrances cement walled off from the mall do not make the rest of the building a mall.As a matter of fact anchor stores are designed and built independently of their attached malls. Your point is completely moot to the conversation.
It is amazing even they choose to hold on to theses locations. They are both sparsely stocked and never have any customers using them.

The Mall hasn't been converted to something different has it?
The Mall hasn't been gutted has it??
The Mall still has 2 Anchor Stores doesn't it??
Two anchor stores walled off from the rest of the building does not make a mall. When a mall has no stores in it, it becomes a former mall and is now just vacant commercial space.

Is another mall currently hiding all the crime??
Dude you don't get it. Any problems at a second rate mall would have serious impact on it.The crime did move back when this happend. It went to Greece Ridge. Marketplace and Greece Ridge can over come it though because they are much much better located to draw from a large area and always had much better shopping available at them. I-mall always had limited offerings and a poor location to draw people in from anywhere but Irondequoit and east side city. Any amount of hassle negated any positive the mall had.Of which easy access for RTS is the only advantage it ever had,but one could also use the same buss to go to Greece Ridge.

You people also have to realize not every crime makes the news.We don't have many slow news days around here anymore. Shootings and stabbings trump mall thefts. No to mention I-Mall was getting reported when it started to become quite common on a weekly + basis

Look at any business in Irondequoit. You want to know where the trouble went to? Look at the Target, look at the Tops, look at the Wal-Mart.Any big store or shopping draw in Irondequoit is always the head sh&t show of the area.

What is "the same problem"???
City black criminals going after the whites, and the whites are scared to go there, and the locations are losing money and going out of business?
Sounds funny, seeing many stores there like even Tops have been doing fine and have lasted longer then the Wegmans in Gates or in Greece on Dewey Ave.
Plus did you know that there is a Tops on Clinton and Upper falls in the middle of the East side of the city and they are making money and white people can even be spotted in there??
Plus, home come when you talk about parking lot crime, you don't admit that the last few arrests of parking-lot crime arrests have been white people and NOT black???? Do you not want to acknowledge that??? And you don't acknowledge all the old white people taking over the food courts and loitering. Seems its OK for them to loiter, but not blacks because blacks are scary to white people.
Did I say blacks?

You really sound really stupid.
If the black city crime closed the mall, then why isn't it closing all the other malls or the stores in Irondequoit as you state?????
Maybe all the black city criminals moved out of state the same time as the mall closed??
Hudson and Eastridge road there is what???? A Wal-Mart.You people are clueless and call me stupid.I never said the black crime, not once i said crime in general.Your completely off your rocker not to understand why it does not affect a Wal-Mart that targets and thrives of lower-class demographics of all races and a mall that relies on an upscale more affluent clientele to thrive. The I-Mall was destined from the get go to become what it turned out to be.

Tops thrives because people on welfare do not care if they pay higher prices for their food.Nor do they care how dirty the stores are.
