You may be to young to remember but, in days gone by.....another demographic frequented that area and caused the same problems. To the point they redesigned the entrances and exits to the parking lot and erected concrete barriers to prevent them from driving on the City Pier. You can still see the bent over posts on the pier where a kid was killed. When a cable was tied between them and sheered of the top of his truck along with his head.........and you're worried about old poor people living there.

Old poor people are not doing thug fights, break-ins, robberies, assaults, and drugs. A senior living center is not being proposed. Low income housing is according to the mayor.

I don't think that he/she is worried about the "old poor people" living there, more like the younger single moms and their baby's daddies. If they rent to tenants (over 60 and disabled people) like Danforth Towers, Ridge/Hudson Towers there won't be any problems. If they rent to the type of tenants like the ones that live in Holland Townhouses, Fight Square and many of the section 8 houses in the city there will be trouble with crime. Don't know if you are old enough to remember the Hanover Apts. They had to be torn down before they were 30 years old because they were a nightmare when it came to crimes. They were seven buildings, seven apts. per floor and seven stories high, cost the taxpayers millions of dollars to not only to build, but also in police/fire calls and to tear down. I think that is what he/she is worried about, not the race of the tenants, but the type who will be living there. Just a guess.

A high rise in Charlotte. Gangs will be launching rival drug dealers off the roof. Think New Jack City.

I just want to know how many of these $250,000 to 1.2 million units will be set aside for low cost tenants? Anyone know? 10-20%

dont put any low rent welfare Section 8 high rise in there, plus there is no Tops or Price Right grocery store in the area. They will cross the lift bridge into Irondequoit and ruin locally owned Herrema's Family Market.

Keep the scumbags corraled in their current ghetto hood, dont spread the crime to Charlotte, it's bad enough they bus their bastard kids to school there.

For sure this will destroy Charlotte. The beach will be a fight zone like the liberty pole. Look what section 8 housing has done to the suburb schools bringing in the scum into quit communitiess

I remember the Hanover Towers....and that's where, along with the others you mentioned, those type of people are housed. This developer is not going to invest 100 million dollars and not screen tenants and potential buyers. No what the City wants.

Truly unbelievable, I posted on this thread, nothing racist, no personal attacks, only about a law called the Mt. Laurel Rule and whoever is the moderator keeps blocking it, why? Could it be because they don't like the truth, or maybe it doesn't fit their personal agenda? I guess that no one can post anything unless the certain special few agree. No wonder this site has lost 80% of their followers, shame that the few with their bias views can keep our freedom of speech muted.

The moderator is probably waiting for a rent subsidized waterfront apartment. Hope that place has armed security, they'll need it. Maybe holding cells in the basement.

No wait. Lovely has thought of everything. The Ferry Terminal is the place for the low income housing and the Coast Guard is right across the inlet. So we can have CG ships, fully armed, stationed right in the water next to their living quarters, with their guns pointed. Yeah, "bring it on Crips and Bloods".

Where dose it say anything about low cost housing? Take it from me, the last thing you want to do is mix low cost anything with desirable anything. Especially high end lake, water frontage. Would be like mixing water and oil. Taboo!

What wealthy person, not suffering from dementia, would be attracted to live in Charlotte. There are so many other desirable waterfronts properties... like Canandaigua, to name one.

Rich guys don't want to share their space with lowlifes. Makes no sense, but then, the Mayor is behind it. She doesn't have clue. Not one.

I can see it now; one floor of 500,000 condos and the next floor 30,000
low end section 8.

How to make a bad situation even worse. Leave it to our Mayor Warren to make the wrong decision. A better choice would be to increase RPD presence in the area. If she is going to waste money, at least protect the taxpayers. Unless they bulldoze a 2 mile circle and start over, Charlotte will always be a dump.
