Really did you think you would get more of an interview than Ms. Walsh. Amazes me what the news does to try and one up the other stations. I guess the other 2 remaining stations will have a repeat of this as well. Not really news but needs to be aired? Who knew.

Your time spent in jail made you think. Get ready because you will have a lot more time soon. You should have stayed home where you belong and quit trying to be a hero, it wasn't even your property.

Does not matter, this man should have NEVER have done this. It was not his property, and he killed a kid. He is not the law, he is a common citizens. I do not care, maybe people should lock their car doors too. That might help...duh

Of course he regrets it NOW. Hindsight is 20/20 isn't it? Should have thought about it before going out there huh? Now it's time to pay the piper. Think about it NOW, that you will one day answer to a higher power for this "mistake".

Why isn't the press hounding the two other teens that were going into unlocked cars and trucks! We haven't heard their story yet. Leave Mr.Scott alone. He is a hero.

Hero, HA I think not. He shot a 17 year old kid. Granted the kid was wrong for breaking in cars, I will say that. But this guy confronted 3 kids, not even on his property. He can feel guilty or claim self defense all he wants, but nothing will change the fact that he murdered another human being! Second Degree Murder is the least the system can do to him. You want to say hero, would he still be a hero if it was your 17 year old kid that was killed?

Is it ok for some guy to take the law into his own hands and shoot your child?? If so then you have a serious problem.

Like I said above the 3 boys were completely in the wrong, I will agree with that. But did the one deserve to be shot and killed by some guy defending a property that is not his to do so with??

If you really think Mr. Scott is a Hero, then let him shoot your kid when your kid is doing something wrong, lets see how you react then.

You people that call him a hero make me sick. He killed someone and you want him to get off scott free. Get your head examined I say!!

The kids were raised as animals now we have to feel sorry for them and blame Scott for it all. One monster is on probation. Lets see I am going to let my kids hang around with kids with police records. What a parent. The parent of the one on parole did not care where he was all night???? So now we have to feel sorry for the innocent children. Screw you. To bad the other 2 did not get shot as well.

The press wants to keep going after Scott Go after the thief's. One is on parole. Lets do a story on him, the parents and parole officer. This monster should have been under lock and key chained to his yard. The parole officer or parents have not caused this shooting? He has had trouble a lot with the law. I guess he or his parents did not care???

These kids put themselves in this position, the tables would be turned if they shot and killed Mr Scott, who didn't ask for these kids to breaking the law, this should be a lesson to all the punks that violate the laws and set an example to let them know there behavior will not be tolerated. I want a neighbor like Scott,,,

Me too. I would much rather be a neighbor to Mr. Scott than to the Cervini's.

Keep a good attitude Rod. Your sentence won't be that long. You have much support in the community, and I'll bet you won't be sentenced to more than a year or so.

What if Randy Norman had a gun with him when he confronted Frank Garcia who was fighting with Mary Silliman, and he had decided to shoot Garcia before Garcia had the chace to kill him? Would we still consider him a hero, like we do now? When Garcia was confronted it was not Norman's property Garcia was committing a crime on and Norman did not know Silliman, yet he did the right thing and tried to help. He did not know if Garcia was armed or not, yet he did the heroic thing and stopped to help someone else.

Granted, that case is one where the suspect ended up killing others and not just stealing their cigarettes, but the point is the same. Mr. Scott did not go outside just to kill someone. He was trying to protect his neighborhood. Should he have fired the gun? Probably not, but I was not there and do not know exactly what happened, none of us do. Should he have to pay a price (aside from the tremendous guilt he already feels), absolutely, but second degree murder is too much. Did Chris Cervini deserve to die for what he was doing? Of course not, but he also was NOT this innocent young man just out for a stroll at 3AM.

It can be argued that Mr. Scott should have just called the police (which he had done), and then the boys could have gotten away and, in time, likely progressed to worse crimes, eventually being locked up for something worse, or even being killed by someone else. We can also say that Randy Norman and Audra Dillon could have simply driven by as Frank Garcia was beating Mary Silliman, but they didn't and unfortunately, Norman paid for that with his life and Dillon was injured. Their decision to stop did not save any lives (that we know of), but the fact that they tried to stop Garcia is heroic enough. Mr. Scott is not a bad man, he made a poor decision just as Chris Cervini was not a bad kid, just one making poor choices.

None of us have the right to judge any of the people involved in this situation, especially when all we have to go on is biased media coverage. I feel for both the Cervini family and Mr. Scott and his family. The fact remains though that none of us were there and we do not know why Mr. Scott decided to pull the trigger. I do know that most "bad" people do not just start killing people at the age of 41, with no criminal activity prior to that. Just some things to think about.

Scott did the right thing!! What does that criminal's parent mean by shooting a teen in their neighborhood-THIS TEENAGER WAS 20 MILES AWAY FROM HOME BURGLARIZING SOMEONE ELSES NEIGHBORHOOD-is she stupid or does she think Hilton is Greece???

It is a shame the kid died, it is worse the parents are not arrested for not being parents. Whatever happened to "Do you know where your children are"? on the 11 o'clock news. Buffalo's ch 7 and Irv Weinstein used to say this every night. We need to bring that back instead of the United Way commercial.

Carol Cervini is outraged? If her nephew and the other two were not out at 3:30am this wouldn't have happened! Is she the mother of the 15 yr old cousin?

OK, I grew up in this exact housing tract. It's on the Greece/Hilton border. Greece police Dept, and Hilton Schools. Rod Scotts house is about 15 houses away from the Cervini house. The kids were in their own neighborhood. What an ignorant statement. You should shut up now before you make yourself look even more foolish. Cervini's live on Buttonwood Dr (as did I 10 years ago), and baneberry way is a small off-shoot with about 10 houses on it. Google map it, MORON! BTW: Last I knew, it wasn't a crime punishable by death to be out at night. IDIOT>
