<quoted text>Exactly! It's one of the biggest problems about living Downtown. We have a couple of pests that ask for money every time you go outside.
These guys are very annoying to women, who must think are a "soft touch". They become very aggressive at times (maybe based on their last drink or hit), and couldn't care less if I or my friends feel intimidated or scared. I refuse the same guys a few times a week.

I work every day. I'm not giving a dime to a guy who doesn't work, but is well enough to hassle me constantly. They won't use it for food anyway, they'll head straight to the liquor store.

I've had it with these jerks. Clean up downtown. The Mayor seems to ignore this issue.

homeless have been living down there for many years. sad situation its a very rough life especially in the winter. maybe we should offer them bus tickets to Florida when the cold comes, that would be the cheapest solution. most of these folks have some degree of mental illness, maybe assist them in getting ss disabilty or something.
Remember the white homeless guy that headed south last winter.???
Gets his picture taken in Washington D.C and they shipped him right back to the parking garage.....

The bums are like rats. MAPCO will lock them out, and they'll find another path in. This is going to be a long battle. I want to see them gone, but they think they own the place. I'll do my part to support MAPCO in cleaning up the garage. I park there, and it's a cesspool.

Would it be easier to cordon of an area for them outside of public view.....throw some hay on the ground and hose it out once a week......problem solved.

The Mayor ignores everything except her travel plans to somewhere else. I expect nothing will be be done about this ongoing problem. I agree with you, panhandlers are getting more aggressive and annoying. The problem is getting worse. How about a no panhandling ordinance.

Great. Precisely.

Only problem is the vagrants feel entitled to use this property as their own. The also feel entitled to trash it, and have the garage maintenance crew clean up their mess (sewage, broken bottles, needles etc). MAPCO is doing the right thing, because this extra burden costs them money and man-hours, as well as PO'ing the users that pay to park their car there.

I support moving the vagrants out. They should be in a homeless center instead of sleeping against a car tire, and using the wall for a toilet.

You're all entitled to your opinions, but just remember this: Many of us that are average working joe, we're all one paycheck from being homeless.

WTF is an average working Joe? One paycheck away from being homeless? You're such a tool.

They are all white drunk or druggies from the suburbs to begin with, so can't they all move to the underground parking area in Fairport near the library?
Fairport is trying out a new program. They dump their drunk homeless in the South Wedge. When they sober up, their so appalled and disgusted by the surroundings that many are scared straight. Seems to be a cheap and effective alternative to detox.

Think about it. If one loses their job especially if there's only one income in the household, someone's in trouble.

And you don't know what the average working joe means? A figure a speech meaning blue collar. Hope you know what that means

Social workers live in a fantasy world. It's not a real profession.

If nothing else works in college, there's always social work to get a fast, easy, sucky degree -- that guarantees you accomplish nothing the rest of your career.

Even the Open Door Mission doesnt want these dirtbags, they've been banned from there for their behavior. Time to reopen the 15 story Mental Psych Bldg on Elmwood

It's loaded with asbestos, the reason it is unusable by anyone.

Oh, right, now I got it. Yes, open the building, make it a homeless hotel. Good idea.
