An 11 year old is recovering after being shot in Rochester Sunday morning.
Police say a shot spotter went off in the area of Chili Avenue and Thurston Road.
Around 10:30 AM one resident who didn't want to be identified, told YNN she heard the pop of multiple gunshots.
"Me and my little cousin, out feeding the cats, like we do, heard gunshots, I went out to see if anybody got hurt, didn't see nobody."
Police say it appears two men were shooting at each other on Thurston Road, one of them was injured and the other ran from the scene. An 11-year-old boy was caught in the crossfire and shot in the arm. Both were driven to Strong Hospital by someone they knew.
"There was casings on the sidewalk but no one on seen, shortly after the victims showed up at Strong Hospital," said Lt. Laura Grande, Rochester Police Department.
"This caused a lot of commotion because this is not the first time this happened in this community," said the witness.
And while certaintly not the first time, this resident says she can't believe how brazen the shooters were, with a blatant disregard for people's lives.
"This is like a playgroud for children when they're mother is doing laundry, you know, we all look out for each other," said the witness.
Police are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting. This witness, who called 911, says many parents worry for their children's safety.
"Well, the children that I had here, I had to send them home, it's really not safe enough for me to keep children," said the witness.
When we spoke with police Sunday afternoon, they were exercising a warrant at a nearby house that they believe may be connected to the shooting. Both the 29-year-old man injured and the 11-year-old boy suffered minor injuries. Police say the investigation is on-going.
So di the guy that got shot have a legal gun? Or has he been arrested?
Is he cooperating? He obviously knows who the shooter is.
Throw the book at him if he dosn't give up the name of the guy who shot him and the inocent 11 year old kid.
