TJX closes store in Irondequoit

A.J. Wright , which opened its moderate-price apparel and home products store at 2255 E. Ridge Road in Irondequoit six years ago, is closing, a victim of corporate restructuring.

Its more likely than an insane level of shoplifting made this location unprofitable. I'm surprised anything can stay in business in the Irondequoit ghetto corridor.

So you think that just because this one store had an insane level of shoplifting, that they would close down ALL of the about 100 stores??? Get real.
And if they had an insane amount of shoplifting how come none made the news?

I disagree whole-heartedly. It had little to nothing to do with the owner's decision. Profit margin was the driving factor in it's closing. Shoplifting does drop profit down, but not so much that the company is in the red. There is always more money being generated than there is of product theft or lost. I just think that like other companies in 2010 that went under, they just decided to fold their flag.

Slice, I agree that shoplifting probably played a minor role. The big part was that the store was likely unprofitable, or at a minimum LESS profitable vs other stores. It's interesting to note that the Pittsford and Canandaigua stores remain open...obviously nobody wants to shop at the store in Irondequoit. It's only a matter of time before the Target there closes down too. It's a shame how much that Ridge Road strip has fallen apart in the past 10 years.

The Pittsford and Canandaigua stores remain open because they are NOT "A.J. Wright store", you idoit.

The Company TJX run s different stores, and they are closing ALL A.J. Wright stores.
The ONLY A.J. Wright store in this area in the one in Irondiquoit.
It has NOTHING to with shoplifting in Irondiquoit, as if it did then the single Marshall's store in Irodiquoit would have made TJZ close down ALL of their Marshall stores long ago.

Marshall's on EastRidge has been there a long time, even before AJ Wright and Walmart, and they are still there.
