Aside from the fact that our area doesn't even come close to the population & media requirements. They would NEVER go into an out of the way defunct mall in a marginal suburb. I have been to at least 8 Ikeas an every single one is in direct view from a MAJOR expressway exit. THe only place that might come close is Victor at the junction of the thruway & 490. They also ALWAYS build from scratch as their stores have a specific Layout 2 stories & then the warehouse space. Silly rumors!

We don't give a rat's @ss about your Toronto demographics. The point was that Canucks wouldn't be coming to Rochester to visit IKEA because they have Stores in Ontario and the Pittsburg PA Store is not the closet IKEA to our area. Get over yourself with your detailed maps of the GTA.

North York is a former municipality within the current city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Geographically, it comprises the central part of the northern section of Toronto.
Etobicoke is a former municipality within the western part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
you forgot the store in Vaughn - Vaughan population 288,301)is a city in York Region north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Vaughan was the fastest-growing municipality in Canada between 19962006, achieving a population growth rate of 80.2%
So 2 stores in Toronto itself and 1 in a north suburb.
And Burlington is 36 miles / 58 km or a 45 to 50 minute drive to the southwest.
The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System is a deep draft waterway extending 3,700 km (2,340 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean to the head of the Great Lakes, in the heart of North America. Ocean freighters have until late December to make it thru the St.Lawrence Seaway locks before they close for winter. Just in time for Xmas.
The Welland Canal closes from January to late March - meaning it can unload cargo and be driven to Detroit or Pittsburgh stores.
