I know where your going with this but, it's a moot point.
How often do you hear about fights at Amerks, K Hawks or Bills games?
Almost never! And we both know they happen at games across the board.
You're finding it acceptable for one group of fans to have fights and a problem with another.
Well seeing that I have been a regular fan at Amerk games since the mid 60s I can honestly say that I have NEVER witnessed a group fight at a hockey game. Sure there have been occasions where drunk fans have been thrown out of the building for starting a fight but it is usually one on one not a group. As far as the Bills games again it is usually around drunken fans acting stupid.

Just look a couple of years ago when there was similar problems at local section 5 basketball games it was a HUGE local story ... wonder why you connect the dots.

I am not accepting of this behavior at any event as it takes away from the entertainment value and keeps fans away.

You have to wonder when the deep pockets will finally say enough is enough.. The Dome looks like it is not happening.. Why? Too low an offer? It just can't work economically at the War Memorial. Move to a suburban school with a big gym like Gates-Chili, Webster or Fairport.. Market it to folks that will actually buy tickets and feel safe as well when the family goes to a game.

Because the people who fight at sporting events prefer to listen to rock and county.....source: sports fan demographics

Great post CJS and you hit the nail on the head about moving to a high school gym. Take the ACTUAL paid crowd and Gates Chili would make for a great home and a reduced arena cost.

One has to wonder how much long Dr Sev will continue to lose boatloads of cash.

Oh, now we're on to "group fights" at the scholastic level, instead of staying on topic.
According to the news reports I saw/read, there were two or three simultaneous one on one fights which drew the large crowds. Not, for lack of a better term, a rumble as you describe them. Again it's your perception over the actual reality. That same type of perception is what killed the Irondequoit Mall.

I agree with you, I've never seen groups fights either. But I have seen several blood on the floor fight at the sporting events that I perviously mentioned. And it didn't involve the group that you are identifying as the problem.

Not for nothing, there's a reason the Erie County SO has a detention center built into Ralph Wilson. From my observations; what you consider the "problem" are not the ones being led in hand cuffs down there.

Just like I am, you're speculating that they are losing cash. It's no secret that the City and County will subsidize our professional teams. Or make arrangements to help the (re)build their organization/ brand.
For example, the Red Wings are 5-6M behind in back rent over the the last 10 or so years. Try and tell your mortgage company "I'll pay you as I have the money"

The Red Wings get away with not paying debt service while Naiomi drives around in her Lexus. Community owned? No way.. The Silver family really owns it.

Perception is reality ... the reason that Irondequoit went down the drain is that shoppers did not feel safe there period.

As a matter of fact when word comes out that minority kids are fighting it will have a negative effect on perception of going to a game.

Like it or not it is true.

I took in the Athena HS game tonight and the Razorshards only can dream about drawing that type of crowd that takes in section 5 high school basketball this time of year.

I am sorry but the Razorsharks will NEVER have the local interest that section 5 has in the local basketball community so it is no surprise that High school BB significantly outdraws them at the Blue Cross Arena.
