We don't want those horses that poop and pee all over.
Over half of the city murders go unsolved and these 7 cops do nothing but spend their 40 hours strolling around on their horses.

There is no need for them horses, so get the cops off the horse and get them to work.

Besides these horses are dangerous, like how the County horse killed a woman at marketplace a couple of years ago.

And many that support these horses and signed the silly fb page are not even from the city of rochester and don't pay the taxes to pay for these horses and fat lazy cops.
Time for you white suburbans to mind your own business.

They were replaced by cameras anyway.

At least the camera are impartial ... they catch cops as well as civilian crooks.

Lets save some tax money and let them eat the horses.

I like the mounted patrol. This description pretty much sums up the advantages. There isn't really a downside; except for the whining of naaaaay-sayers.

There are many benefits of patrol on horseback. These include visibility for an officer to see over crowds or situations as well as for increased perception of police presence when a person can see an officer in a crowd. They provide mobility, many times allowing an officer to get to a scene faster and more efficiently than on foot or in a vehicle. They are Ambassadors of Good Will and encourage approachability by members of the public, since many people love animals or are curious about horses.

The Mounted Patrol Unit is often used for crowd management. Some of the benefits of using the mounted patrol unit in a crowd include enabling an officer to assess a crowd and its actions, eliminating face to face confrontation between a citizen and a police officer, providing a calming effect on crowds in tense situations, and providing a strong police force multiplier since one mounted patrol officer equals 10 footed police officers.

The Mounted Patrol Unit provides a vital function in all types of situations, ranging from large-scale planned and unplanned events to small community gatherings.

While we're at it, disband the Sheriff's Mounted Patrol -- and turn the barn in Mendon Ponds Park over to the nature center.

This is a costly taxpayer expense, and the end product is used primarily for an occasional parade.

Here's an easy and significant county budget cut -- dump the MC Sheriff's Mounted Patrol.

Brilliant Chuck.

The effectiveness of the unit has to be due to the added height on horseback giving officers the ability to see and stop crimes faster than if they were in a patrol car or on foot. Officers have the advantage of moving around the city where cars cannot. The MPU's horses serve to intimidate criminals due to their size and speed. This unit not only has the ability to stop crime but also provide a sense of security to everyone living, visiting or working in downtown Rochester.

Horses are no longer needed, and expensive. Take the total expense away and add officers, and modern equipment. The time for a mounted contingent has passed. Not a good use of our tax dollars.

We must save the Mounted Patrol at all any cost.
What will I blame the city wide pee smell on once the horses are gone?
With the horses gone and the continued city wide pee smell I could lose all credibility.

Mayor Uncle Tom please keep the horses.

They will have to retrain those fat cops on how to walk a beat or how to sit in a car all day instead.

They need to replace the horses with tanks. They are working in a combat zone not on a farm.

They mount those cameras pretty high ... and the intimidation factor is that they have face recognition software so they can pick you up in your home ... and show the tape at the trial.

And the cameras are still cheaper than maintaining horses.

They already have tanks ... didn't you see how many were suddenly available during the Boston Bombing false flag?
