The problem is that most do not anymore. My prediction is that in 7 years Eastview mall will will look like much like the Irondiquoit mall. Very Empty. It may a few stores but not what it has now. What a stupid comment...there is so much money in Rochester and Macy's & L&T have great sales..Eastview will not be going anywhere !!

I just read that the upscale Midwestern department chain Von Maur was also approached and interested in Eastview as a possible location for its store, but it had concerns about Rochester's size. The chain, like Nordstrom's, usually likes to open in larger cities.

Wages are going down, benifits are going down and jobs are leaving the USA for good. People have less desposible income. The young have less money then ever. Soon it will be a big factor in the USA and will affect the Malls big time. Many of these stores will be going bankrupt.

It was just announced that Von Maur is indeed the store taking over the Bon Ton space at Eastview Mall. I didn't think Nordstroms would enter the Rochester market.

They are going to tear down Bon Ton and build the Taj Mahal to shop at.

I'm just glad it wasn't a dillards. Eastview doesn't need to attract anymore thieving hood rats to it.

The hood rats will be attracted to Eastview like flies to crap. Let move em out there. Why? Cause that's were the money is ( or what left of it ).

Dillards would not come to Rochester. They are no where to be found in the Northeast or the northern US states for that matter at the moment. They promised an upscale store, and I have to say, Wilmorite delivered with Von Maur! Too bad we all have to wait until 2013 to shop there.:)

Music from a grand piano when you enter the new Von Maur store. Liberace while I shop. Wow thats SHOPPING. A plush red carpet into the store. Its all at Eastview. It will bring so much more satisfaction to my shopping experience then I could ever imagine. Van Maur will have it all. Interest-free store charge card forever. Its like shopping in heaven and never having to pay. Even the mannequins are alive just for my pleasure. The toilets are gold plated. I can not wait to sit on one and have that gold on my rear listening to Chopin as I go #2. http://www.youtube.com/watch...

All of you people in this thread are the problem with Rochester. Always against anything good. Such negativity from all of you. You should all be ashamed. Honestly, all of you should get a life.

Eastview Mall and Victor, NY are a part of the greater Rochester metropolitan area, generally speaking. So is Brockport and it's probably farther from the city than Victor is from the city. I visited a Bon-Ton in Syracuse two days ago. I'm not sure there were 3 employees in the store. The Assistant Manager was running around like a chicken with her head cut off checking with each customer to make sure they were ok (aka serving themselves since there were no store Associates to do it). She was dressed in casual clothes and open-toe flat sandals and looked very unprofessional. When I worked at Bon-Ton, IF we wore pants, they had to be part of a suit with matching jacket or we wore a dress. Her excessively harried manner called attention to her plight, and left an impression of DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA - one had to feel sorry for her, that she had it so bad, that she was working so hard because the store and other employees weren't behind her. No store will make it in this manner. The store design itself was a hot mess. I found some clothes I loved and bought them, sad that the store is dying, but frankly, the store is dying. They could have averted this tragedy with smarter marketing and redesign but the old-school family probably won't budge.

The rich are so fake, and sooo snooty. My rich relatives came to visit and couldn't drink their fancy wine out of the wine glasses i had (how rude right). They had to drive to the Pottery Barn to get''special glasses''. So sickening.

At least we are in touch with reality. Cost of living is sky high. Have our wages gone up to balance it -no!!! Is it harder than ever to make ends meet? Heck yes. Only the very rich, and those who abuse credit cards are shopping. My friend has been job hunting. The trend today is 10 to 12 bucks an hour with little or no benefits. Who can live on that?

ALL good things must come to an end.

We know someone in Nordstrom headquarters management & they've told us Nordstrom hasn't rejected Rochester Metro -at-all !! BECAUSE Rochester Metro Nordstrom customers regularly give Nordstrom "a very healthy internet business yearround"!!! So, for anyone to state that Nordstrom would never come is most definitely someone that doesn't know what their talking about!!! Nordstrom appreciates it'[s Rochester NY Metro customers indeed & could very well make plans in the sometime future to place a fullservice Nordstom department store right HERE in Metro Rochester,NY !!! Nordstrom management is not in any way unaware of it's much appreciated loyal Rochester Metro customers!! The Nordstrom creditcard holders in the greater Rochester NY Metro is "Considerable" and GROWING!!!

hahahahah holy moses batman. ever heard of xanax? CNNErinBurnettUpperRear wrote: Who considers it Rochester???? If it's not Rochester, it's not Rochester. You might wanna claim your from Rochester, cause no-one knows where Victor is. If you don't pay City Property taxes where you live, your not in Rochester. Rochester is a City, there is No County named Rochester. You people make me sick claiming your from Rochester when your not, and you always have to put your nose in Rochester's business. Do you ever see city residents putting their nose in the business of any Town in the area??? Then you try to ZIPE CODES and AREA CODES as proof that you are in the City. Let me tell you something the broke post office or the old phone company doesn't get to determine the city boundries or who is in Rochester or not. So, I don't care what phone number you have or what your mailing address is or even what you claim your location is on your fb page. Even our stupid Mayor is mixed up, he thinks city residents work at PAETEC.
