Second time around. Why not restore these churches to the Latin Tridentine Rite. Holy Trinity would be fine and Sacred Heart is a beautiful location for a parish. Take care. Wish you enough. "Z"

You people miss the whole point! WIN THE WAR? What war? People have moved out of Niagara Falls. You cannot maintain the same number of parishes today as you did in the fifties with over 100,000 people in the city. Wake Up!!!!! You have a building-hooray!
I suspect that Dunkirk was referring to a first step and not a battle and war. Saving the building is a first step. But having the diocese recognize Trinity as a parish is an other big step. Like someone pointed out, the expense of maintaining the buildings is significant. This is especially true in the winter when heat is needed and the buildings are not insulated.

Another problem is the decline in population from 102,000 in the fifties to a little over 40,000 today. The numbers would appear to show that slightly less than half the parishioners are left. But, in reality, far fewer are attending mass and actively participating in church activities. So, closing some churches makes economic sense. The members of Trinity weren’t arguing to keep everything open. They were disagreeing with whatever selective criteria the diocese used to identify which churches were to remain active.

NO, we are not missing the point! The diocese has waged war on the parishioners of WNY and we are FIGHTING back. It is a fight to the finish. May the best man (nun) win!

The church is closing, but we still feel we were victorious. The church now has a landmark status that will force new owners to keep the exterior look according to the way it is now. Since all we'll see is the outside after Easter, we want to preserve it. When we drive past it, it will look the same.

I think you should all accept the path you've been given, quit whining, and start acting like real Christians
