On May 30th, Officer McGrath of the Charlton Police department issued a man a traffic citation. Witnesses report that just as the officer was about to leave the man politely asked Officer McGrath his name and officer McGrath suddenly became enraged and arrested the man charging him with the normally citation only offense which he just received a citation for moments beforehand. Upon examination of the citation it was clear Officer McGrath had no intention of arresting the victim until he simply asked for his name. The box "arrest" was not checked yet the "application issued" box had been checked and circled. The man was booked and jailed at the Charlton police department for several hours and was forced to be bailed out.
