Lets see.... You have Jerry Flynn a former cop who would try to cover up the Holocaust if it involved a cop and then you have Al Donovan who would sell his own mother down the road to make $5.... Hummmm.... I think the whole situation is in good hands!(If you are a cop that is)

What kind of jackarses are on the Dracut Police Dept.? What do you mean you almost shot some guy because he was walking down the street with a shotgun? Are you insane? Anyone can walk down any street with a gun in this country and don't you ever forget it, you dumb, armed, barstards!

When do the Dracut cops find time to screw up so often when all they do is sit in parking lots talking on cell phones or on laptops ? It takes 30 - 60 mins for them to respond to most calls , then they just drive up and roll down the window of cruiser and tell people to go home .

Well lets see this wasnt just some dude walking down a street was it? The police were called to respond to a domestic dispute involving a gun. Police respond to the scene, see man with a shotgun coming toward them. Are you getting the picture now Ted? But I agree with you, the DPD seem like a bunch of arses. The fact that the chief sees nothing wrong with this type of behavior seems to fit all the shite going in the department. I guess if you work for the DPD you can do whatever you want.

I think "Ted" was being sarcastic with his comments. Not sure, but that's how I read his post.

You are almost correct. But, you should have said " I guess if you work as a cop anywhere in the US you can do whatever you want". That is basically what happens......

The Dracut Police Department..when I was a kid living in Dracut, people would call the DPD to let them they would be away on vacation. And to keep an eye on their house. Then, later It was safer not to let the DPD know you would not be home..Will we ever find out who took the pot?

If it comes out that anyone outside of the police force stole that marijuana, it should become obvious that living in Dracut is far less safe than Lowell, Lawrence, or any other stereotypically "bad neighborhood". Dracut is essentially run by an immovable Good Ol' Boy network and it doesn't appear as though that will ever change...at least not any time soon, unless the truth about this marijuana thing comes out. Dracut cops get away with everything, and it seems to be bleeding into the rest of the top dogs in town as well.

Get Chartrand off the force, get Golec out of the HS and don't pay either one of them. They're useless.

More items that have hit Dracut in past year:
-Doug Willet passed away (sad).
-The whole Matt Grimard court case will be coming up.
-Walgreens forever trying to locate in town
-Bad press about current football coach
-The nice manager of the golf course getting fired
- State rep Garry's flip flops
- The controversial Canney land purchase/Kazanjian connection
- The bad press about Selectman Cox non-payment of taxes

What is up with this. Is the Chief that dumb he can't see what is going on. It's hard to think that the two of them joined at the hip weren't together. If a patrolman pulled the same stunt they would be in hot water. Can't punish your drinking buddy.

Maybe it was one of your buyers.
Did you file a theft report with Dracut P.D., telling them your grass was missing?

You know, as an ex-cop, I couldn't help thinking the same thing. I understand drawing down on the guy with the shotgun across his chest, and warning him to put it down. But unless he's pointing it at me, and making me fear for my well being, i'm not squeezing off any rounds.

The bottom line is Cops protect Cops. They don't have to live by the law they are paid to enforce.

Just look at all the blue line bumper stickers on their private cars. It's pass for speeding.

The people of Dracut deserve better. The Deputy should know better. Thank god he wasn't shot because that happens. In regards to the selectman blaming this on the union because of the pending results of the big investigation. Ridiculous and laughable. The statute of limitations is up. Period. End of debate. Donavan is a buffon who is on the ropes because of his own mess in Tewksbury and his credibility is suspect. The matter at hand is the violations of policy of a department, where the person who committed the violations is the person who is entrusted with upholding the policies. For a chief to claim that he didn't see reports etc. is also laughable. The reports are there for him to see every day. People, wake up. The deputy though his intentions were noble, were reckless and irresponsible. My advice to the people of Dracut is to demand that the state police or AGs office investigate the matter. Everyone shut up and let the truth come out.

Just don't assume that the union is telling the truth. Chartrand has been battling with them from the beginning trying to weed out the bad cops and make a better department. If they are going after him like this, he must be doing a great job and has them really nervous. I believe when this is all said and done Chartrand will be exonerated and the union will be liable to him for the way they acted. Better get your insurance company involved because this is going to cost you guys a lot of money. Keep up the good work Deputy Chief.

How many cops will get the boot because of the stolen pot.......that's what is at play here not an off duty incident.

“Chief Kevin Richardson opened a preliminary inquiry last week after New England Police Benevolent Association leader Jerry Flynn sent a letter to Town Manager Dennis Piendak accusing Chartrand of being too drunk to hear police officers' commands to drop an unloaded shotgun, and later trying to cover up his own involvement in the incident.“

So Chief did you know of a domestic disturbance involving a Fire Arm on B Street?

Did you not wonder why an arrest was not made?

Did you not wonder why no charges were brought?

Did you not wonder why no FID card was revoked?

Didn’t you think maybe I should look into this when one of the officers that was there went to you?

Didn’t you think you should look into it, when you had to ask the officer “How drunk was the deputy”?

Did you not think at least once over the last three years maybe the deputy has a problem?

Did you think this whole incident would just go away like all the others?

Let me ask you this, what were you thinking?

And it took a letter from Jerry Flynn to the Town manager to get you to start an investigation?

PRICELESS !
