Group seeks money to fix train crossings
#3 Mar 9, 2007
In the MEAN time...STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and LIVE. And, always expect a train.

That railroad crossing is safe. Obey the stop sign, stop, look, listen. Those that don't take the chance of getting hurt or killed. THose that live in that area know that its there but they still roll right thru the sign to this day. Has anyone learned a lesson here?

While I applaud the efforts to raise the money, I am familiar with all three of those crossings and all three are already properly marked. There's a "Railroad" sign and then a "Stop" sign -- what more do you need? Perhaps a better (and much less expensive) alternative is to put a speed bump right before the crossing, thus forcing cars to at least slow down before getting to the Stop sign. You can't legislate - or buy - common sense, which is all that's needed in this instance to keep people safe!

That railroad crossing is one that is dangerous. Even with the stop sign, sometimes you cannot see the trains, and they do not always whistle. Stopping will help but not always.
