I was raised in the 60's and 70's and we stayed in the car while mom went to the grocery store lots of time. No wonder these kids today are the way they are. Stop the safety nazis they are ruining america.

Someone who commits a hideous crime is pampered and given a slap on the wrist while someone does something that is no more than a bit of bad judgment or less is hammered. It's more about getting peoples money, you HAVE to hire a lawyer for any offense, then pay a fine, then other costs whatever they may be. Everyone connected to the system gets a piece. Another decade or two and this nation will be like Nazi Germany, Facist Italy, or the USSR,

I want any one of you first five that left comments to think about what would have happened had the car/kids been stolen. Then you would all be asking for her head on a platter. It's not like it was in the 60's and 70's; what she did was ignorant and she is where she belongs. If she would do this how many times does she leave the kids alone at home or subject them to other forms of abuse? She's driving without a license as well so obviously has no respect for the law as well as no common sense.

Buckle up because Reid/Pelosi/Obama are taking us all for a ride!

This has been goimg om lomg before Reid/Pelosi/Obama. A Socialist society is not necessarily a police state. Communist, Nazi, Facist states are. Sweden for one is a Socialist country but NOT a police state.

Not sure I understand why the person had to call the police rather than sit in their own car , keep eye on kids until the mother came out ......then just drive away, go back to their own life. I mean, they called the police because they "CARED", right ?

Okay I can understand where you are all coming from, but these kids were 4&5 years old. come on. Shifters and kids don't mix, they could of put it in gear and hit something and then what. Where is the common sense here?

Pretty soon, if she is IN the car with the kids while smoking with the windows down, the same thing will happen. These anti smoking fanatics are ruthless.

They were so bad he had to snuff out Roehm. Today someone like Heydrich would be better suited. If it fails I shall do myself in before I am hanged.

You may want to get all specific on the difference between a socialist or police state but neither is what we Americans need. How will our new administration make things better? The bottom line on this specific issue is the woman had poor judgement and is paying the price.

And if the kids did get the car moving then the caller should throw herself in front of the car to stop it? The caller did the right thing....

The caller did the right thing.... Why would she get out of her own car to throw her person in front of a moving vehicle ?:-/ I'd suggest she use her vehicle instead. The caller took it upon themselves to get involved and call the police. Would waiting for the Mom or walking into the CVS have been too much of a stretch , too much inconvenience , taken too much time ?
